Great to see you back on the beach. Sorry for the stupid new laws. Oh well, nothing better than playing in the sand with your best buddy on a beautiful beach. Thanks for taking us along.
With that banjo sluice pan, you might want to consider another john-invention ! (Screw those @#$ state bureaucrats !). 3D print out a high-density plastic workman's table (of parts) that will act like an archaeology shaker table. Massively sluice the beach sands IN the lake water. No more pump and water sluicing, or bringing up majority buckets of water to a sluice of minority volume of tailings. Put the sluice shaker table into the water ... and bring the minority buckets of black sand to the sluice and majority water. Put the four - 2+ foot long legs and cross beams into a carry bag. Print out plastic slats (and only 2 upper side railings) that can be connected all together for a shaker table top sluice. The table top doesn't need any angle of deposition. Cut out a 2 foot x 2 foot plastic sheeting as a bottom liner. Cut out a 2 foot x 2 foot micro-ripple mat surface. Roll these up and put into carry bags. Construct the shaker table, with easy assembly, at the beach. One could use those rubber kitchen drawer liners - Easy Liner by Manco, Inc. They are the connected multiple beaded surface strings connected into a porous matting. They are perfect for sloughing off the lighter material, while allowing the heavier black sand and shinies to hide between the matting and the bottom liner. Just keep pouring on the tailings, until you see the whole matting appear as black sand, and you have sluiced the entire shaker table top with concentrated tailings. Put the shaker table into the lake with the table top at (or just below) water surface level. Then bring up buckets of black sand to the table. Pan on the black sand onto the shaker table and allow the NATURAL wind and lake's small wave actions to NATURALLY sluice down the sands into black sand and shinies into the ripple mat grooves. Some arm-action shaking and vibrating the table also accentuates the sluicing action of the shaker table. Keep putting sand into the center of the sluicing shaker table. You have a greater area of sluicing, with unlimited and unrestricted wind and water action (and hand action), processing larger volumes of black sand in a shorter time period. In the end, you have an entire 2 foot x 2 foot of intensely concentrated black sand and shinies caught in the micro-ripple mat. If there is any porosity of the ripple mat, the underlying plastic bottom liner will catch the finest of particles. One can then wash down the ripple mat and bottom liner, and have a concentrate that can have a final panning at the beach or at home. Repeat the cycle and acquire more concentrates The shaker table (at most) would weigh 5-7 pounds, and all parts are easily stored in carry bags - and carried to the beach and back to the truck. Easy assembly and disassembly. Let the wind and lake water ripples naturally sluice off the majority of white sands and organics, dropping the heavy sands and shinies to the bottom of the sluice. This same device can be put into those deep portions of the creeks and streams where you have good water flows. This is far more productive than the tiny shovels onto the small and narrow creek sluice. This process alongside the multiple stacking of classifying bucket and pans getting out the larger cobbles, can then sluice out the finest of materials right at the creek water surface. Start processing the concentrates - and screw the basta bureaucrats.
