Great Series! Totally enjoyed this episode... History time after time has repeated itself.. Keep moving forward... Re-invent... Thanks Andy for the history lesson.. Cheers from Missouri USA.. be Safe ..
I really enjoyed this. Excellent series great glimpse of canal working life from conception through to its newer invention of providing leisure and pleasure. I look forward to another series.
Thanks Andy!!! The history telling of an area of Birmingham and the canal that goes through it here I think it's unrivalled. I'm sure I've passed over and alongside these canals on my drives into Birmingham (when we were still allowed to) without giving them much notice, apart from thinking they were hemmed in, dirty, relics of the past, but you really bring them to life. It's amazing how much British industry made bad decisions when they were market leaders, didn't innovate, and disappeared. This video shows quite a harsh, almost grim stretch of the canal network, but it was highly enjoyable learning about it so thank you very much for doing such an informative video on this area.
Andy, fantastic job on the series my friend, I found your video coverage very enjoyable, I also found the information to be very useful for planning Led Bicycle rides. Really appreciate your effort my friend, thank you.
Great Series. Great content and presentation. I'm just a bit concerned that you forgot to make your delivery. But then that hopefully just keeps the door ajar for more adventures.
Ironically we don't get to see much canal in this episode (of the while cycling shots). Face(ing) the fence through spring growth and a bit of landscape beyond. I never knew about the BSA factory and motorbikes, so Ackers was interesting! Spotted the offside grill (at 1:50) that always collects litter below bottom lock, interesting history about sampson road (seeing Berkswell ready for action), and our favourite lunch stop on the offside grass at Ackers. Of course none of the litter seen on the water of the top pound is still there now!
You have identified one of my weaknesses - I can only do the one handed ride and film trick in one direction, using my right hand to control the camera which means there can be no canal backdrop is the towpath is on the left as I travel along.....
Hi Andy, this has been a brilliant series, so thank you for that. I shall certainly look forward to your next series.
Thanks Graham, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Another excellent vlog by Andy.

Gad you enjoyed it.
Excellent series. Thank you. I've explored the canals in Birmingham off and on now for 50 years. What changes have been wrought!
I think some of the change is for the better but of course some gems have been lost. Its a small miracle we have ended up with as much as we have.
is there anywhere you can buy a map? as i would love to walk the canals in birmingham,
Again many thanks for a fantastic series looking forward to your next series, love the canals and the history behind them.
