I have a late model Suzuki Grand Vitara and just breathing on the throttle makes it lurch so it's quite difficult to pull away smoothly or modulate just off idle because it already has an aggressive pedal profile. Too bad this unit is not compatible because it would greatly improve drivability but Suzuki is not exactly the target demographic is it.
Fun fact: It actually IS Duck tape, and started out life sealing ammo boxes in WWII. It got it's original name due to being so water tight, water rolled off of it likes it would off a duck's back. Duct tape, is actually a different thing entirely, and is usually a thin strip of adhesive aluminum used to seal HVAC pipes in larger buildings. Most notably is that while Duck tape it strong lengthwise, duct tape is strong laterally as it's a narrow strip sealing two vents pieces together.
@@iHelpSolveIt Did you even bother to read the whole comment? 'Duct tape, is actually a different thing entirely, and is usually a thin strip of adhesive aluminum used to seal HVAC pipes in larger buildings. Most notably is that while Duck tape it strong lengthwise, duct tape is strong laterally as it's a narrow strip sealing two vents pieces together.'
@@iHelpSolveIt Quite right, duct tape (that is, the aluminum tape Arthur mentioned), is for ducts. Duck tape, however, is the normal silver cloth-backed tape with good water resistance that is definitely not for ducts. Use duct tape for that, or mastic, or whatever you want.
Incorrect, sir. Duck tape is a brand of duct tape, but both are exactly the same thing. The aluminum tape is called Foil tape or HVAC tape. It could be colloquial I suppose, but anywhere I've ever been in the nation the cloth backed gray tape is called duct tape, even if you get the "Duck tape" brand. If you don't believe me, just google all three terms.
Dad was in the navy and had duct tape before the 1970's. He brought it home and it was the gray, wide, super strong cloth water resistant. The Nashua stuff is similar but it's black. They're both duct as he referred to them when Moby Dick was a minnow. He used them for lots of things but tubes that delivered air you couldn't handle because they completely failed, could be externally wrapped with duct tape. Replacing them was not yet available, and they were wire with a sort of treated cloth construction. The duct tape repaired the duct. Go figure. Now, in the field, you can call it whatever you like. But it was duct tape, to the shipyard. Years later, I saw small skinnier rolls of a crappy copycat stuff that wouldn't stick to anything for long with the brand name duck tape. We laughed and pointed. Real duct tape could hold up the pant legs on a pair of bell bottom jeans, and the adhesion improved in the dryer. My sister's had to learn to sew and mend. Duct tape was held dear for wearing something the night you bought it instead of waiting.
I liked it when your friend corrected his grammar! (Using have instead of got.) After spending 35 years teaching kids to speak and write correctly I get tired people never speaking correctly, especially in the internet.

Been thinking about your EGR code, and a device that I used came to mind. A popular mod on the LLY/LBZ was to install an EGR blocker plate (back against the firewall). Of course, that would throw a code. There was a device called the "Fingers Stick" made by a forum member on some of the Diesel forums, and it fooled the ECU into thinking the EGR was working properly. I don't remember if it plugged in line with the EGR valve or the MAF, but it was a narrow PCB and could be tucked into the corrugated wire cover in the right fender area. I'm wondering if maybe your truck had this installed before you bought it, and perhaps the "Fingers Stick" is finally failing after 14 years? Maybe inspect that wiring harness and see if anything is hidden in the loom.
Hi Mr. Ray, To answer your question regarding the A/C, I always drive windows up, a/c on and sunroof shade open unless it is too cold then the heat comes on, but always windows up.
Ray here is what Wikipedia says about the cell lot at an airport. A cell phone lot is a parking lot, typically located at airports, where people can wait before picking up passengers. The purpose of these lots is to reduce congestion at arrival sections by preventing cars from continuously circling around the airport or waiting on the sides of highways to avoid paying fees at the airport parking lots. Once the passenger's flight lands, after they collect their luggage and are ready to be picked up, they call the person waiting in the cell phone lot. These lots are usually free and only minutes away from the terminals.
I am the same way. I love driving with the AC on and windows down lol. Unless I’m on the highway which I usually am going faster than the traffic so the wind is just a lot lmao
Ac on, windows up. Winter time up here in MN is opposite. Heat on and windows down for heat control. Learned at a young age to never turn the heat down when its really cold in case something breaks and you lose heat.
With A/C it depends. If you have the Full A/C recirculation on. Then you want the windows up, as it pulls the air from the inside of the vehicle cooling the inside faster. A/C without recirculation on will pull the air from the outside of the vehicle so windows down is fine.
AC: Under 40mph, AC off, windows open. Over 40mph, then windows closed, AC on. But I'm in the UK, where it doesn't get that hot. We use the AC mainly for demisting the windscreen in the winter!
I'm a convertible top down, heat on, driving while it's snowing kind of guy. It's warm and you can catch snowflakes on your tongue while waiting for lights. GOOD TIMES
Hi Ray, This video reminded me of my friend's wife's VS Rabbit convertible. We would drive it around with the top down and the AC on during the summer. Fantastic feeling. Years before that I had a Buick Electra convertible with factory AC but never even thought of it.

Need a remote control gate opener/closer to that yard. Maybe you have a cool land lord. You already drilled a big hole in it I would have just glued the plastic parts together with Plastic Weld or something and have no plastic rib-its. The term “cell phone lot” or "Cell Lot" comes from the idea that most people who park there anxiously await mobile phone calls or messages from travelers who are ready to be picked up at the appropriate arrivals terminal after they exit their planes, hit the restroom, (possibly have a quick libation) and pick up any checked baggage
A cell lot is where you go to wait for the arrival of the passenger without having to circle the airport waiting for them to arrive. You park, they call your cell when they get off the plane and it is a short distance to the arrival pickup area. Supposed to reduce traffic, save gas and reduce pollution.
@2:50 - i prefer AC on window down.... you get the breeze from outside while driving, but the AC takes the heat out of the air when you're stuck at lights
At Salt Lake, the lots are called “Park and Wait”. There are big electronic signs that show all the flights that are due in soon. The descriptions for a given Airline and Flight Number are effectively, still in the air, landing, waiting and pickup now. That way it keeps the drive up pickup areas relatively uncrowded.
Windows down, sunroof open and AC cranked up. Heat in the winter and it could be -30 outside and sunroof is open. I’ve driven in snow with top down but that was a Jeep thing that you don’t understand. 😊

Watching Ray trying to get under the dash reminded myself at 6'2" and 250 lbs trying to hook up my dash camera in my 2014 Yaris lot's of fun. Also when I cut the ends off Zip Ties I use my lighter to melt the Sharp ends so I don't get myself.
Cool to see you go live last night with the wife unit!

I remember buying the edge tuner for my truck when diesel went up in price thinking yeah even if it gets me slightly better milage it will pay for itself. This started me doing different mods like downpipe and exhaust and then supporting mods like a lift pump and I did a transgo jr to help the transmission with the added power. The truck runs great and does low 12s in a 1/4 mile but it was kinda smokey so I finally got an intake and I know that didn't help at all for the mpg but it did get rid of the smoke from the extra fueling.

These three together are really funny.
On the Zip Ties, if you grab the unnecessary part (the Tail) with a pair of pliers w/the jaws perpendicular to the zip tie & then just start twisting it. It will eventually break off & not leave a sharp tip that can scratch the crap out of your hands, fingers or arms. Give it a try sometime.
Flush cutters trimming square to the zip tie works very well.
You should buy the billboard... lol. May be a good indirect way to get new customers.

An off road setting would be nice for setting it up for super lazy off idle response for fine off road pedal control.

I also loved Airports before DHS and TSA existed. The Pittsburgh Airport had a Fred Roger's exhibit. Charlotte was neat with that atrium. Indianapolis and the hideous carpet. Nashville carpet, too. And BNA uses local country stars for the announcements. And of course all the small regionals like Chattanooga, Lynchburg, Myrtle Beach, Allentown, Knoxville . I don't remember Roanoke or Reading.
That's an wicked mod... nicely done you guys!
Love the channel Ray I always look forward to your videos 🇬🇧
I am the same way. I love driving with the AC on and windows down lol. Unless I’m on the highway which I usually am going faster than the traffic so the wind is just a lot lmao
Ac on, windows up. Winter time up here in MN is opposite. Heat on and windows down for heat control. Learned at a young age to never turn the heat down when its really cold in case something breaks and you lose heat.
Cool road trip!
With A/C it depends. If you have the Full A/C recirculation on. Then you want the windows up, as it pulls the air from the inside of the vehicle cooling the inside faster. A/C without recirculation on will pull the air from the outside of the vehicle so windows down is fine.
It's 32 in Germany at the moment. Thinking about AC and/or windows down feels kinda weird right now :)
Same in Canada. I was looking at the green grass and blue skies.

AC: Under 40mph, AC off, windows open. Over 40mph, then windows closed, AC on. But I'm in the UK, where it doesn't get that hot. We use the AC mainly for demisting the windscreen in the winter!
So does this allow awesome burnouts with just a touch of the pedal? Let us know what it does for fuel-mileage!:-)

I'm NW of Bham AL and just today I had the AC on and window down in my truck. Humidity is like butter
Duct tape is used in HVAC applications to seal joints in plenum that carries air.
A cell lot is where you go to wait for the arrival of the passenger without having to circle the airport waiting for them to arrive. You park, they call your cell when they get off the plane and it is a short distance to the arrival pickup area. Supposed to reduce traffic, save gas and reduce pollution.
And squeaze blood from the stone that is your wallet. They can go straight to hell with that.
