  • Dennis Morris is a celebrated photographer whose photos of musicians Bob Marley, the Sex Pistols, Marianne Faithful and many more have become iconic images seen around the world.
In this short film Dennis shares how he discovered photography as a young boy living in Dalston, Hackney during the 1960s and 70s. He tells of his early days as ‘Mad Dennis’ living on Cecilia Road, leaving home aged 14 to tour with Bob Marley and the Wailers, and how his photos became world famous.
This film was made for the exhibition ‘Growing Up Black: Photographs by Dennis Morris’ at Hackney Museum (October 2009 to January 2010). This featured an important collection of images of the African and Caribbean community in Hackney in the 1960s and 70s. © Kwaku A. Mensah
