    Looks great Chris. What's the typical weight of your rolling pins?

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  10 лет назад +1

      Never been asked that before! :) I went and weighed it on my postal scale and this one weights 2 lbs 9 oz.

    • @monkwerks
      @monkwerks 10 лет назад

      That's a hefty pin. The heavier the pin, the easier it is for rolling out dough.

    That is cool, I am going to have to give this a try.

    Thanks for posting this video. I have one like that - it's about 50 years old. I've been wanting to make a few like it, but could not figure out what they did to make the handles spin - you have cleared that up for me. Going to make a few for the family this week.

    Man I am glad I found this video. Being a first generation American, Mexican style rolling pins are different (they do not have the outer handles on the sides) but I am planning on giving them as gifts. Thanks for the vid!

    Outstanding! Thank you, thank you. I also have a rolling pin that was a wedding gift (almost 49 yrs now, boy time flies when your having fun) and being a newby to turning I wanted to make rolling pins for two of my granddaughters but I wanted them like you make them with turning handles but have not seen anything on you tube until I found yours.Thank you again. Great job! P.S. I believe that older rolling pin is Yellow Birch.

      Chris Pine Yes, this is the place. My man studied at the Diamond School and polished rocks for 12 years till he got fed up of burning his eyes and demolishing his back. However, his Dad, older brother and 2 uncles are still in the business of cutting and polishing rocks :-)
      Merry Christmas if you celebrate and please, keep making beautiful objects

    Chris PINE, huh? As if that's your real name :-)
    Your idea of gluing dowels into the main roller just saved me hours of engineering and long-axis, end grain drilling. Great tutorial!

    Hi Chris. Did you need the additional length on the lathe bed to turn the pin? I don't have the extension on my Delta and would like to attempt the rolling pin.

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  10 лет назад

      No. You can do all of this on teh regular bed. Of course not if you are trying to turn a very long pin :)
