I did buy a ps5 for that and FF XVI without stutters. Played Remake on ps4 when it was out too. No regrets playing good games a good while sooner before they get to pc, and then some before they're fixed. Upgraded ps4 releases are cool too, some are still exclusive. There's a mod called Flawless Widescreen that allows you to bypass the dynamic resolution scaling in FF7 Remake. It gives you the ability to render the game at 8K within a 4K container if you have a 4K monitor/TV. My buddy has an 8K TV and he tried using the same mod and it let him render the game at 14,000x6750 resolution on a 4090. He was getting 19 fps and maxxed out his VRAM usage at 23,800 GB 😂 I was able to run the game at a smooth 40-45 FPS at 8K on my 7900 XTX. The game looks absolutely stunning at this resolution.
If it's mostly in the cutscenes it might just be an art direction change kind of thing. KH3 had it's lighting changed in some cutscenes when they updated it for it's dlc.
AGREED. 60fps is more important than anything below 40. *_IT'S A F**KING GAME, NOT A MOVIE._* And there's no benefit to 30fps besides the image quality.
@@kickass2733 but then consoles would need more powerful hardware which ups the cost. The appeal of console right now is its reasonably proced for reasonable performance.
I hope Square revisits FF7R part 1 on PC and gives us more options. If not then I guess I'll have to wait for the eventual FF7R remaster when they bundle the whole trilogy together cause of PS6.
FF7R Intergrade is technically already a PS5 remaster which got a PC port. What do you mean by more options though? Do you mean more settings to change in the menus? Do you mean additional DLC or NG+ content, which Intergrade had both of? What more do you really want? The game runs fine on PC even on more moderate hardware at a solid 60fps.

i stopped playing rebirth about 50 hrs in because it was so blurry on the OG PS5. Tried the 4k30 option but it felt so sluggish... Going to start it on my 3080 but i really hope i can snag a 5090 to finish this game off.
Just drop that 4.0 DLSS dll into the game's folder and keep your 3080, it should be way more than enough! I mean maybe you're a millionaire but to me $2k on a blatantly overpowered GPU is way too much, when the 5080 is half the price and will play every game just as well anyway, 5090 feels like a card for professional/synthetic AI use tbh.

More importantly, why doesn't FFVII Rebirth PC actually support ultrawide screens? Remake and FF16 didn't support it either. Is it that difficult to implement?
Anyway, even if you talk about Unreal Engine 4 (because there are mods on PC and we have access to the Unreal 4 console to modify things), in reality, they only bought the license and heavily modified Unreal. Even though they started with UE4 as a base, you could say it's a Square Enix engine now; it's completely different. It's the same thing CD Projekt did with the Red Engine: they bought the Aurora Engine license and then modified it, transforming it into something else

@Optim121 um really? Seriously? Then explain ffxvi. 250k units sold. Last I checked ps5 had 4mil. So no pc is not where the money is at. Where the money is at is heavily dependent on the genre of the game. And for jrpgs the money has always been playstation. Every single final fantasy except for the two mmos has sold the best in playstation. So much so in fact all other platforms combined still never even got to half of the numbers sold on playstation. Now let's look at remake. 6mil sold on playstation. 1mil sold on pc. And we follow this trend even more with older titles like ffxv. Where it's around 8mil on playstation, and 1mil on xbox and pc. Same with ffxiii where the overwhelming majority of sales is playstation and pc and xbox barely sold 1mil. Same with the hd remasters of ffx and ffxii. Sold better on playstation than any other platform. So no. You are extreme wrong with that notion of pc is where the money is at. Its not. At least for jrpgs, it's not. Mmos, wrpgs, crpgs and fps? Sure. The majority of the user base is on pc. But jrpgs, fighters, 3rd person shooter, action, action-adventure games the money is still on console. And it depends on which console. Jrpgs is playstation.
@densetsu4286 that 250k number is fake and was never verified. Capcom makes 50% of their revenue on PC. Tekken 8 sold the most on PC. Helldivers 2 sold the most in PC. Elden Ring sold the most on PC. You are a parrot. Enough said. Very disingenuous of you to bring up 15 when it had a 2 year delay btw. Same day releases sell more on PC which is why square Enix is abandoning ps5.
I would be crazy if you could change settings, resolutions, and framerate yourself on demand so it fits your needs and as you get progressively better hardware - and not rely on some arbitrary 3rd party to give you an update and resell you “remaster” for a game you already own… Oh. That does exist.
i just can't the difference entre the graphic modes when the trailer showed the three side by side. for me it's just a scam. i will stick to the lower. its exactly like the highest!
Any improvements to lighting will be welcomed. I played this game on the original PS5 at 30 FPS because the performance mode was extremely blurry. If I can get over 80 FPS with DLAA on my 4090 that will be a BIG win!
In the ps5 pro version, there are still low textures, just like when remake went to ps5. Like in Costa del sol you can see how low quality the curtains are in the changing rooms, it's laughably low quality. It seems like square just takes the money and runs. It could be worse, but I don't get why they don't fix things like that after launch.

@@raditzum UE-4 has supported GI from one version onwards, if I'm not mistaken the first time was with Gears5. Days Gone also has it active, on PS4 it had an intermediate setting. I remember that the Ultra setting on PC was very heavy, 2 steps above PS4. In some games it is inserted as lighting without warning. The highest parameters activate GI. This thing also happens in UE-5 games with evolved GI, Lumen enters from one step onwards. Now, I don't know if Rebirth will use GI on PC, but it wouldn't be very strange, and it wouldn't be the first time for UE-4. In theory it could use a form of GI also on PS5, which on PC would go to Ultra as it happens in Days Gone. From the screenshot shown, it looks like the occlusion is much deep on PC. Could be the GI effect. However the most annoying thing is that aggressive LOD to say the least. On PC even there will not be a very high setting, it is easy to create a mod for that, it is a simple hidden engine setting.

i love this game. But i feel like it could have been 30% smaller, and much more polished. I mean, they basically made a chocobo racing game within the game. Its cool, but it seems like sacrifices were made in order to accommadate the amount of content they stuffed into the game. It needed another year in development for how broad it is.
Another year of development wouldn't help it much because of a position they put themselves in. Middle games/movies of the trilogy are always the hardest to do, as they need to leave off with things to be desired. But most franchises can draw up a new story every game, sky is the limit. While here, we KNOW the story, it puts developers in quite a tight spot. They are literally devising new means to tell a story, instead of a story to tell.
They should've focused on developing characters and world building. Rebirth has the same problem that Remake had. The level design is okay for the first time you play it, but when you just want to get to a boss fight because it is fun, having to go through Shinra's Manor with Cait Sith again is SAD. There are a lot of comic reliefs in this game, when you get to Gold Saucer, the sidequests are almost 100% just funny stuff with probably 10 of them being developing something. Not to say the fan service with that interlude. That character shouldn't be in this game because he adds absolutely nothing. To me, the devs are trying to please every fan of the OG game and the Compilation, but they are putting the narrative coherence aside to put plain fan services. I swear to you, the last boss fight on Rebirth was unfortunately my worst experience with a boss fight ever. The soundtrack was boring, gameplay wise was boring, the amount of fan service was just unnecessary etc etc. I can understand people who liked it and I'm not gonna say they are wrong and the game is bad, but personally I didn't like it and I love the OG game, but to me you could delete the fillers on Remake and Rebirth or at least add something useful for the world building. They could have let us explore Upper Midgar, but most of the Remake took place in various locations that aren't that interesting :/
There is nothing interesting about upper Midgar, it's the point the og game makes too, it's a copycat city, where buildings are the same, and only slums got personality, because there people are survivors. I don't understand the complaint about the boss fight in Shinra Manor, most games would make you at least replay the chapter, that's why you have manual saves, to load certain spots you like. There was enough worldbuilding for a game that needs to leave things for the next game. 100 hours of content is more than enough in my book.
Why even asked this question when it seems the Devs didn’t do much with the graphics mode for the Ps5 Pro. While versatile mode it looks good but the pop in is way out of control. Whoever ask this question why would you even think console would be able to handle that?

For a modern 2024 remake of a beloved franchise visually the game just sucks, ff16 managed to do so much better when it comes to the design of the atmosphere, world, characters and enemies, everything just fits beautifully together.
Yeah, people try to kill me when I tell that FF16 is a better Final Fantasy game than Remake and Rebirth, mostly because 16 at least dive deep into the lore. FF7 Remakes should enlarge Gaia and the characters, but what it did was adding so much filler that everything seems unnecessary. FF7 sidequests are worse than FF16, because the last one at least add some lore to it even if gameplay wise it is bad, while the former is just comedic non sense and we can count with a hand how many quests are really useful

One thing for sure, slowly but sure i could leave my ps5 just for competitive games because of console are almost cheater free.
i love this game.

@mojojojo6292 least obvious got comment

Ur perspective is pc is more expensive and powerful which it is, i have a 4080super, series x and ps5 btw.
My perspective is, what is squares motive.
The upgrades are minor are more art direction improvementw at best. The game could have easily been updated for ps5 pro and maybe even ps5. These upgrades are there because they had additional time to revisit the game code.
Similarly when doing Switch port of Ori games. They hugely improved performance for Xbox and PC because they optimized the game more for all platforms in order to fit it on Switch

Short answer- the ps5 pro is barely a upgrade from base ps5 that a update wasnt worth it
It is a huge improvemente, considering how blurry the game ran at base PS5 perfomance mode. Now you got image quality crsiper than native 4K and stable 60FPS on pro, so yes, was a huge improvement
Because it’s still the PS5!!!!!! Just more capable. Why doesn’t IPHONE have android features? It can run them. 🤦♂️
Amazing video, thank you Digital Foundry.
What do you mean pc features? This game is not on pc yet.
What do you mean PC features ? There is already a trailer.
Why isn't a bird a car, why can't I install my sound system on a bird, why oh why.

@@raditzum Sounds like copium

@raditzum in case you missed the joke, I own a playstation 5, hooked up to a 1440p monitor and it does what it needs to it plays games and I'm no fanboy I own a series X and I've got other tech, the ps5 pro is basically a custom laptop it's all on the board and all very small parts aimed at casual Joe with a 4K tv, tell me do you think casual Joe pretends he can count pixels on a screen? do you think casual Joe knows what any of these features are ? There's levels to gaming, some of us laugh at these hilarious things like vrr and vrs and drs, band aids that not only require computational power to enable, sometimes it makes things worse, if you've got a ps5 pro congrats and enjoy your slave labour machine yet don't expect it to bring Jesus back to life, let it do what it's meant to do which is test the waters of how much Sony can get away with charging people, while not even including a disc drive that doesn't even cost 20/30 to buy for a PC, yet 80-100 for a ps5 come again ? The mark up is crazy, if you don't own a ps5 pro why even care go get a PC, you can build a decent amd PC and not have to worry if the devs are going to spend weeks or months adding things or if they're even contracted to do the work in the first place, my phone can run some games at ultra settings and 120 fps, some games not all and the battery goes from 100% to 0% very fast as it takes power to pull it off and I put my phone at risk of doing damage to the internals, that's why things are limited on consoles, things don't get tested properly and have lazy dev work as was seen when alan wake 2 devs tried to auto results and then had to go in and do it manually, information is available and taking the time to educate yourself and others on what things are is not a crime, if people care to take the time to want to know is up to them not me, if you don't care that's not my problem it won't stop me from being honest.

making drama out of nothing while pretending you aint feedin the platform wars. DF slowly goin downhill when it comes to VG discussions
Nah just stop buying Sony trash
well, cause high end pc is far stronger than ps5 pro.

@raditzum maybe it also cpu bound with all the stuff happening in the game world, as the ps5 pro cpu is very dated
Just release all games on PC. Exclusivity kills sales and holds back graphical leaps
thankfully they have stated they will no longer do exclusivity
Releasing it day 1 simultaneously on PC won't move the needle overall in sales, there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
@@craigsampson3386 Final Fantasy 15 sold 5 millions copies in the first 24 hours that's a multi-platform game. Final Fantasy 16 only sold 3 million copies in the first week. A game being sold on multiple platforms will have a larger group of potential buyers than being released only on one
@craigsampson3386 FY22 560 millions, FY23 730 millions (mostly from pc software sales).
I think that ain't bad
@user.asleep we're talking about the Final Fantasy IP here though, releasing it on time along side Playstation won't move the needle that Square Enix are hoping for.
Square enix sucks in optimization
Nah, they just don't care. Neither does Capcom.
@@emilgustavsson7310 So that means they suck at it.
Because it's not the PS5 Pro, it's the PS5 Slo.
It's simple, ps5 pro is weeaak. All it does is use upscale and still cant even achieve a stable 60 fps in some games lmao. And now with the rtx 5000 series coming out it's going to be way weaker in the current year. The amount of games you buy for the ps5 in total, you could have use that to build a pc and achieve greater performance, better investment.
But it's financially better to buy a console for people that just wants to game cheaper with 1 game for $70. Well keep adding the $70 up on every game and see how much it cost in total after that. The flaw here is spending for games over and over through out the years for a console that is just too damn weak in these times. You're limited no matter how many new games you buy for the ps5. It has a freaking amd zen 2 cpu which was release on 2019. What a joke.
cant wait for the benchmarks to come out, you will look so dumb
@wizzenberry like every other gpu before it comes out. Oh it's weak it's not worth it. And when it does comes out, everyone flocking to get one lol. Either way ps5 will be generations behind even with it's recently pro release. It'll be 3 years before they want to make a stronger Playstation so have fun.
😂 The ps5pro is = to a 4090 right? So why 😂 aren't these details on the ps5pro. 😂 what in the world is going on.....hmmmm.
"PC master race". \o/
After all these years, they finally started to start using their brain.
Bro got hit by reality. You won't get the premium gaming experience on PS5 pro. You will get it from high end gaming PCs

@@raditzum this will be glorious on ultrawide. Something you will never experience on a console
@@eytbits I had a PC with ultrawide. Went back to 16:9 because I didnt like it. I did not use the additional peripheral vision, except for nice screenshots
Also you are wrong, there are some games on console (recently SW Outlaws and Death Stranding) which had simulated 21:9 by using Black bars. On a 65"+ TV its basically bigger than on your PC monitor so dunno what you are rambling about
@@raditzum you are wrong, ultrawide is not just simulated black bars. It's a wider view than 16:9. So what you experience in outlaw and DS is fake ultrawide. You can only dream of real UW support on consoles lol
@eytbits its not just black bars. Do you know what simulated word means? If it was just black bars it wouldnt be ultrawide at all, it would just be black bars. Try researching before you spew bullshit next time. Outlaws and Death Stranding has real 21:9, it just works on 16:9 by adding black bars because how else would you do it? Cut off part of your TV? You can do exactly the same thing on PC connected to a 16:9 monitor by setting up custom resolution in windows kiddo
Cause the PS5 pro is a scam.
I think the main reason as to why we haven’t got this on the PS5 Pro is because it’s clear the main goal of the Pro patch was to get a 60fps mode that wasn’t blurry, which was the louder and stronger criticism of the game at launch. The PS5 Pro did have lighting upgrades but definitely not on the level of the PC port.
They listened to the fan feedback and prioritised the biggest concern.
It doesn’t hurt to give people a reason to buy the PC version too.
@ also very true.
we haven't even seen actual footage of gameplay from the PC version , trailer look always fancy until reality hits . On PC i reckon it will look the same if not even worse + a lot of stuttering going on . Typical PC situation .
@DankinaX unfortunately true for PC players
The ps5 pro has no upgrade in lighting at all. They slapped pssr into the performance mode and call it a day
