I haven't tried it but I did have 13/42 and 13/45. To be honest, 13/42 is great and helped me learn wheelies but if you are doing any street riding, the 14/42 setup is probably better. You're not shifting out of first gear after 5 feet and you also have easy highway capabilities
Thanks! Yeah, I'm doing 98% highway riding. Appreciate the info man! I have a 14/49 right now, and it has great pick up, but top speed is lloooooww.. lol
14/42 gives you a perfectly even 3.00 final drive ratio. Which probably accounts for the overall smoothing out of the power delivery. 13/42 or even OEM 14/40 requires a compromise to cycle the chain smoothly. 108 Links with 14/42 gears will evenly cycle 36 links every full rotation of the rear wheel. Crunching the numbers shows why the 14/42 is the best all round setup. But if you're riding a 250L off-road constantly like its a dirt bike, you're ingnoring the fact it's a CBR wearing dirt-bike clothes. Not many modern 250cc Dual-Sport Bikes can truly pull double duty like the the true "Enduro" bikes of years long past i.e. XR250, KL250G "Super Sherpa", KDX200(technically trail bike; but easily streeted), 5-Valve WR250F etc. Unless you wanna drop $12K on a KTM which is dumb because I could buy 2-3 of the aforementioned bikes for that amount of money.
I just installed the 42 with 14 up front with a bigger tire and now my chain too short a order a chain 110 link so your saying 108 link his the right length for this setup @ Let me know
It definitely is a noticeable difference. I like it because you get more top end without sacrificing too much down-low torque. Anything more than 1 tooth in the front probably would’ve been too much for me
ya i loved the 14/45 when I had it, but made the switch to 13/42 so I could do quick changes between a 13T and 14T up front. And ya that's exactly what I think, if I get the OEM with the actual rubber it will probably help noise a ton
Question, I got a 2020 Honda crf 250l and want to throw a fmf exhausts and power cord header on. Now when I get the ejk and throw it on can I leave the default settings or do I have to change the settings on it at all.
I don't have a full system so I don't have an EJK. But I believe EJK has specific maps they recommend for different exhausts. I would honestly ask them directly
hi! what gear do you recommend for the SM (crf250M)?
14/42 or 13/42
hey man i saw your comment on one of brians videos and have watched most of you videos now
yo man, I appreciated it! hope you're enjoying them💪💪
@@ConnorGMedia yeah I am really enjoying them
What about 50 tooth for a stunt build ?
What are your thoughts on 14/44? Thanks for the video!

Just got mine on the road. Instantly went to the shop and got a 42. Thank you so much for your info. Bike feels like it should be now
NICE i love the honda my guy next week gonna be some good weather to really get out n have fun nice wheelies also
Im around for it!!
I want a little more too end on my drz. I think it’s 14/44 now I’m thinking about 14/43 or 14/42. Does 1 tooth make a big difference?

14/45 feels like butter. The 13 up front sounded clunky. May be the rubber that’s on stock 14 keeping nose down. Keep oem 14 on.

@@ConnorGMedia some company needs to make a 13t with rubber gaskets.
@@FloridaVolts I agree 100%
Hello 👋 Connor g : ) 14 42 is stock??
14 42 possible 2nd wheelie??
14/42 is aftermarket! So 14/40 is stock. That being said, it is DEFINITELY possible to wheelie with 14/42 (as you can tell by my videos!)
@@ConnorGMedia OK 👍 I'm south Korean

FMf powercore 4 slipon. 14-42 is def the way to go
@@ConnorGMedia don’t need an ejk with slip on correct
@@ConnorGMedia the black you put is so sick think I might go white and gold to match the forks love your new build tho
