I just came back from a 2,500 km trip. I have the 2016 model with a 14/45 setup. It revved too high at the highway speed limit and of course almost everyone wants to go over the speed limit. Its a huge difference from the factory setup (especially off road), nevertheless, I'm going to use a 14/42 setup. By the way, the seat is AWFUL on long trips. My brother and I had really good trip anyway.
I'm using 13/42 on my 250cc, from stock 13/52. But thats just to offset swapping out rear tyre for a lower profile, as that geared down the ratio by quite some. These sprocket experiments are fun though, bike feels completely differently
Agreed! I had so much fun running a bunch of different set ups, it was definitely trial and error, but it really helped me determine what gearing set up is best for me.
Hello my friend thank for the info I have 14T / 45 T and I really like I’m going to change it for 13 T on the front and 48 tooth on the rear trying to pick up some speed I LOVE THE WAY YOU GOT YOUR MIRROR where I can get them thank you.
That will give you lots of torque! Glad you enjoyed the video. The mirrors are the PowerMadd handguard mirrors. I made a video on them, here: ruclips.net/video/s-3EHPMI_7A/видео.html
Hello there I have a CR250R 1999 would it work if I do the 14/45 to make it go faster on the road I've made it street legal for the street. Any information it would be appreciated. Thank you
Connor , thanks for making these vids! 🤙🏽🤙🏽 I’m about to go with the 40/45 as well but before I pull the trigger , what size tire are you running in this video , how tall? I have the Dunlop D606 , it’s 120/90-18 Thanks 🙏🏽
40/45? You’re probably gonna have to remove the front sprocket guard and use two chains for that. And it should lose some low end torque but increase the top speed to around 500 mph!
Hey bro I have a CRF250L, Im considering ordering a 13T/42 because I’m unable to wheelie on the stock one. Is it possible to use the stock chain with this mod?
@@ConnorGMedia I ended up changing the whole Chain set with 13/42T. it’s my first day on it and But why is it so much faster but is not torque enough ?
@@ConnorGMedia thanks for the reply bro🤙. I ended up ordering a new rear 45t sprocket and some bolts for it. I’m going to pick up a new chain this weekend. Going to rock the stock countershaft ⚙️ for now since I can’t find a 42t drive ⚙️ . Can you believe there’s a ⚙️ emoji🤔? Neat.
So confused, so during this ride which one did you have? And which is the best for having plenty of torque and wheelie ability, but still have highway ability
@@richscanlon3201 thanks for the reply bro. I ended up cutting my chain to 08 past the hundred when I put mine on as well. Chain calculator was trying to do me dirty lol
It sucks that you can’t adjust the speedometer. You would think that it would have the capability, since you can change the tachometer, etc. I’m starting to think I can change everything on this bike and it still won’t ever be close to what we all want. A MX or off-road enduro bike that’s street legal and pulls wheelie in third without having to clutch it up. The smog makes the bike run like crap and I bet there’s no actual proof it improves anything but the lifestyle Uncle Sam & friends have become accustomed to. “I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” ― Thomas Jefferson “Without Government, Life would be Peaceful, Fair & Tax Free.”
@@Journeyman1642 13/42 worked great! If you ride a lot of street, I'd recommend keeping it 14/42 though. You can use the stock chain length and switch between 13/42 and 14/42 but 14/42 is waaaaay better for on road. Still rips wheelies real easy too so I probably won't ever even go back to 13/42

That's a big trip - sounds like an awesome time! And ya, the stock seat starts to become pretty uncomfortable after the first hour lol
Speedometer sensor must be on the front wheel. So gear ratio do not affect speed. Tire size will.
Nope.. picks up the signal from off the transmission output shaft
My drz is 15/44. I just ordered a 42 tooth. Hopefully I can get less revs up top without losing too much in the bottom
so 14/45 has great torque and good highway speed or does 13/42? Trying to figure out my gearing for my wr250f

@@ConnorGMedia What gear should i try wheelie on it? It seems to not have much torque
@@IvoRos-o7g hate mate I found going down in sprockets increases top end speed were going bigger means more torque easier to wheelie bigger sprockets
So whats better to make 1st gear more useful just for casual city ride but mostly wheelie.
I mean first gear is gonna be short if you want to be able to wheelie easily. I’d say try 13/42 or 14/42

What’s the best gearing for learning wheelies?
13/42! Have a whole wheelie tutorial on the 250L on my channel. Recommend checking that out - I talk about mods that help when learning
@@ConnorGMediaWould it be difficult to learn at 14/45?

No 13/48
Will 13/42 work with the stock chain?
I believe it should. That’s the absolute most you can do and it’ll be snug, but technically 13/42 should work with stock chain, yes

13/42. Beat for wheelies and highway is 14/42. If you go 14/42, I’d recommend upgrading the clutch springs for a better pop
