Dude, the Morpheus scene may be the most badass action sequence in history of cinema. The way he is absolutely stoic, in contrast with Trinity's hurry, like he's got everything under control. Then the music comes, and he doesn't waste any movements to defeat the villains without breaking a sweat. And THEN, the greatest freaking chase sequence continues. In 2003. F*cking Matrix.
I came here for the Ducati 996, stayed for the chase sequence. It becomes even more impressive when you know that Carrie-Anne Moss actually did all that high speed swerving herself for the camera, two-up with no helmet.
For me, that is one of the best scenes ever produced in history, the music score, the intensity of the chase and that gorgeous Ducati sound, the three mix in a blood pumping delicacy of a shot. Wonderful.
0:38 is criminally underappreciated. The sword popping the rear light off, and the debris of the car still in the air on the wide shot that follows. Morpheus frozen on his knee. And then his deadass expression when he lights the gas tank up. Got damn.
@Lee Brown No, I don't need to, I do it because I can and I have an opinion too. Should I ask you for permission to give mi opinion of things? Is he going to fall into a depression just because I LOLed at his comment or what?
My problem with that scene is that you can absolutely tell by the cut of those scenes that that car would never flip. I am not talking about sword flipping cars not being a believable thing. I dont care about that. What I am talking about is that you can tell the car wouldnt flip. It simply stopped between those takes and then you inexplicably see it in the next thing rolling over. The effect had to be more pronounced in the previous shot. God I hope I make sense lol. It is a badass scene but I was let down by the fact that it did not look like the sword (or anything other for that matter) made the car flip.
@@elwingy I agree, that, and the damage done by the sword is not that visible in the second shot either. Another thing is that when morpheus stabs the katana into the container, its waaaay higher than what is shown in the next shot :D

@@emiliodelbozo3155 MCU movies are made for little children. Movie goers these days have the minds of little children, so it keep the money flowing into the corpo pockets.
Absolutely phenomenal & very deep scene. Trinity is essentially "speed running" through the program with absolute perfect timing on every single maneuver & with it bugging the system (cops coming in the highway from wrong directions, ETC). Earlier in the film Morpheus is said to have warned her that going in the 'highway' was "suicide" because of the monumental task he knew it would endure to get out of it. This is essentially a hacker trying to get their way out of an information highway against firewall programs that have Administrative access to every single file any any given time. Super wild.
You gotta love how this movie reframes Morpheus' sacrifice in the first movie not as a noble dive into the jaws of death, but as his standard operating procedure. Dude's just so used to fighting impossible odds and winning, he's not sending the others away to escape, he's getting them out of the way so he can kick ass and link up later. Dude's so used to protecting his allies and pulling off impossible escapes it's just how he works. Him and Neo literally think and operate the same way, Morpheus knew Neo was the Chosen One not because of faith, but because he saw himself in Neo and knew those traits were what you needed to become the Chosen One.
They didn't, it was a section of newly built highway that they paid for the rights to use before normal traffic was allowed to use it. Happens in many, many films. Italian Job, (1969) for example
@@MrMolova no it wasn’t lol, they literally built a mock up freeway on the old Alameda NAS runway to film the chase stuff, and several scenes briefly on ca hwy 24/ I-980 maze, which has been there for quite some time.

Even if Reloadad and Revolutions cant keep the quality of the first one, scenes like this are so damn good that modern films still fail to produce something similar. Only thing that bothers me all the time, because its so damn obvious, is when Morpheus puts his sword into the side of the truck and a second later the sword sticks way lower than he could ever reach from the top by some matrix magic.
