but I think in an industry like music, I personally prefer listening to Filipino over English songs as it has a closer connection to the culture. English is my first language and Filipino is my second language, I'm not entirely fluent yet I prefer listening to OPM with Filipino lyrics over English
That's right! The Philippines have 180+ local languages (Filipino is the official language). So it's really nice to hear Alamat incorporating 7 different local languages (Tagalog, Ilokano, Bicolano, Waray-Waray, Kapampangan, Hiligaynon & Bisaya) and representing them in the mainstream media. FYI, here in the Philippines, many people have some stereotypes regarding other native languages when it comes to accents and pronunciation. Like for example, when a non-Tagalog speaker mispronounced a tagalog word, they will be made fun of. So it's nice that Alamat is normalizing diversity in a Tagalog and English-centric music industry.

They get it. ALAMAT is different and fresh. They don't conform; they create something new. I also like the discussion on 'kasmala' because that's the magic of the video and the song. After watching the MV, you would really like to dig deeper. Actually, what I felt when I first learned about ALAMAT was the same feeling I had when I encountered SB19. They just have this magic na sobrang genuine nila at mararamdaman mo 'yung parang hindi sila ganun kataas, especially 'pag nanonood ng vlogs.

KPop is successful because they mastered their branding and that includes their costumes and overall styling, for another country’s Pop music to prosper they need to really study their own Image direction, which should not make them look like KPop, that’s the challenge.
KPop doesn’t own those styles but it became part of their branding, I can relate it to IV of Spades it’s not originally theirs but created it as their own.

I’m so in love with Alamat. Not only are they talented but they really touch on their roots as Filipino from different regions of the Philippines. This is something that should be more mainstream. Hoping they get more support.

Alamat sounds very OPM to me compared to other group. It feels like listening to EXB or other OPM artists. Just like the boy from Malaysia said, they have their own style.

ALAMAT is such a one-of-a-kind group. Instead of mimicking what Kpop has already done, they mix distinctly Filipino elements in it to make it our own. Not only are they a full package of vocals, dance, and visuals, but their group’s message is commendable. Philippines can be a xenophilic country at times, so ALAMAT’s message of getting more in touch with our own Filipino identity is just… chef’s kiss. I love them so much. They need more recognition.

ALAMAT for me stands out. They can sing anything from RNB ("Litrato" with Thyro) to power pop/ rock ("Sandigan"). The members have different personalities yet they have a great chemistry.

Kasmala means strength or bravery of Filipinos....Philippines is liken to a very enchanting/ beautiful woman whom other countries (Spain, U.S, Japan etc) are very attracted to....there’s actually a connection between the MV and lyrics, they just made it sounds like a love song when it’s actually a patriotic song

ALAMAT is beyond pop music (for me) because this group makes me dig deeper into our culture. I just love how they force listeners to read and know the message/context for them to understand the meaning behind everything. I am guilty of not knowing this particular part of our history but thanks to KASMALA, I was able to read about it. ALAMAT is serving us great and educational music and music videos. They deserve to be known by the whole country and get recognition abroad as well. THEY ARE SERVINGGGG 🔥

Apart from the language, the instrumental, the mv, the outfit, some parts of the choreography of KASMALA are inspired by indigenous dances (you can watch it in their channel). I loveeee how everything in KASMALA is meaningful! Arghhhh i just hope more people support ALAMAT. It kinda saddens me bc they're underrated compared to other ppop groups. I believe they all deserve to be in the spotlight :

the very controversial st Louis world's fair included different native Filipino The concept of this song "kasmala" is about as living Exhibits it was also Called the 'human zoo '.. Imagine how our kababayans felt during that time being treated as animal in a foreign Land.. But as for the message of the song, it some what tells us that despite of those criticism and discrimination we should be STRONG or MALAKAS in filipino which the world KASMALA came from.
The British guy he's spitting facts! Like drop the English songs! English song is boring to them... They hear it all the time. The same reason why I listen to Korean, Japanese and other Asian songs because the unique language adds flavor to me.
Disclaimer I listen to Filipino songs too but having Variety in language is very interesting for me.

@@junefeldoncila7343 okay po ang live vocals nila, pero nagsstruggle pa rin yung ilan sa live singing while dancing. 😊 Ang laki na po ng improvements nila. Yun naman pa yung plan ng management, parang jpop style po na maggrow yung group with the fans. 1 year pa lang po ang nakalipas after nilang mag officially train. Pero pag panuorin mo po mga live vocals nila ang gaganda po ng boses nila. Endurance na lang po ang kelangan nila ipractice pa. 😊😘
