I made so many mistakes with my puppy, he’s 11 months now, and I’d say mine is not continuing training even after he got really good. I sort of stoped training him when we was like 6 months, because he seemed to be doing to so GOOD, but as he got older I realized I made a mistake and in some places he wouldn’t listen smh 🤦♀️. I restarted training when he was 9 months now he listens really well though 😁 but hey we all make mistakes and I’m only 13
Im getting a mini goldendoodle in a couple of weeks and this will definitely help me even if I make even more mistakes which is most likely to happen. :)
I love your videos. I have a question about potty training outside. If my yorkie puppy is 10 weeks when I get him next week, and it is very cold and snowy where I live (Canada), can I still take him out? Aren't they too sensitive to extreme temperatures at this young age? I'm trying to learn about it before the puppy arrives to avoid mistakes.
Thank you for this! I have raised two Shih Tzu’s from puppies and I always took them outside to go potty. That was 16 years ago. Now we live in a house built on the side of a mountain with no grass at all…so I was thinking that the potty pads were a good idea ..so I ordered 2 boxes from Amazon plus a pad holder. I had planned on taking our new puppy (we get him tomorrow😃) outside about every half hour which means across the road and along side the road (we live on a quiet road) I thought the potty pads would be great for putting in his pen when he’s playing just in case we got busy and forgot. Now I’m not so sure! We also bought a 4x5 artificial turf carpet for out on the back deck that’s partially covered for rainy days, then we can pick up after him and hose it off later. Anyway…thanks for mentioning your feelings on the potty pads….I think we may save that for in the garage when we have REALLY bad weather! We weren’t thinking of getting another dog when we bought this house…oh well.
Can you talk more about the potty training? I’m going through the same thing. My dog is almost refusing to go outdoors and it’s so frustrating. Can you talk about how long it took and what you did ? Tips and tricks for a struggling dog mom😫 LOL
Thanks for this. Already made mistake of buying too big of harness, greenies and bulk treats. Will stick to outdoor potty training. Parti Yorkie arriving in just a week! I'm so excited!

Nova is so cute! I fell in love with shorkies after watching your bringing home my new puppy video and have been researching on them since 1 month. I really want to get a shorkie but am not able to find any place where I can get one. Where did you get Nova? Pls let me know... Thanks! ❤❤
Hi! I actually just looked for posting on Kijiji in my local area and the family I got her from aren’t actual breeders. It was more of a happy accident 😂 But if you do look on similar websites definitely be careful and do some research if they claim to be breeders and such 😊
We adopted a 1 year old chihuahua/terrier mix just a month ago, the previous owner said he goes on his puppy pad real good and all potty trained, but I feel like they lied or we took him out for walks a lot because he would hold it in until we go outside, no matter how much we tried he’ll still hold it in and by that he made a lot of accidents, currently at this moment we’re taking him out at 7-7:30 am, 1-2 pm, 5-6 pm and 10-11 pm, and since we live in a apartment with constructions everywhere he’s scared of a lot things since he also came from a abused home, at first I was lazy but I feel like I’m getting better since I want to meet all his needs, since he came from a abused home we want to give him love and all the love possible and that 1 part of love is going out for walks, he loves exploring and I love seeing him so happy with his tongue out, enjoying every little thing, we’re trying to make him go potty in our balcony obviously with supervision since we might be a lot too busy or caught away even if I have to go out to give him potty I will still be glad but I was wondering I know u have a puppy but did u by any chance know any tips on how to get your dog to pee somewhere else then outside like in the balcony? Sorry I got carried away! I love ur little puppy doe🥺
Hi! If he likes to pee outside, maybe try getting those grass patches and putting it on the balcony? That will kind of mimic the sensation for him of going potty outside but it will be a little more convenient for you. Try introducing that to him and rewarding lots when he does go potty on it.
Thank you for the great tips 😀. I'm getting a maltipoo puppy in less than a week, and I will definitely not wait to teach him the leave it command for sure...
Hi cuties. Thanks for another puppy video.Plese more training videos. How you train Nova to wait for food. And alll she can do .Thank you .Looking forward for next video Victoria .
Thank you for your incredibly insightful videos Victoria. They are helpful! I would suggest instead of puppy pads for indoors, you can get an inside potty porch kinda thing. It looks and feels like grass, and it can be kept indoors for when you don't want to make those early morning trips outside. Try that out and see if it helps.
With my 7 month old pup we always got his collars for him to grow into. Even if it was too big we didn’t really have to worry Bc he had a big ass head as a young puppy🤣 and we never walked him until his collar/ vest was his size. The time we weren’t walking him and the collar was too small was the time where he was getting use to having a collar on and a leash. We went to the dog park and went on the small dog side so he can play with smaller breeds even tho he’s a pit mix he was a puppy and we didn’t feel comfortable putting him on the big dog side. The small side worked best Bc he could get exercise and become social at a young age. We also did that after he got vaccinated so we didn’t have to worry about him getting sick at the park. Now he’s bigger and plays with the big dogs he’s a handful lol
Hey girl I love watching your videos because im expecting a new pup next month. I noticed Nova can bite on her collar, just be cautious. A few years ago I came home and my older dog had on a semi loose collar like novas and her arm was through the collar while on her neck. Luckily she wasnt harmed too bad and her breathing wasnt impacted but the collar cut into her underarm (armpit area on us humans) and I had to take her to the emergency for stitches. I now make sure her collar is not too loose nor too tight using the two finger rule.
Hi! That part she is chewing on isn’t the same thing that is around her neck. The collar she wears is a martingale style but instead of a chain it’s fabric so that part does hang loose. She only chews it when I hold her like that but otherwise she doesn’t even notice it haha. But thank you for your advice.
That’s something I’ve yet to be able to do with my 7 month old pit mix 🤣 it’s just me and him and my boyfriend so he gets really lonely and wants attention. We give it to him Bc we have nothing else to do but give him attention lol he’s attached at our hip. But tomorrow he’s going to be getting a best friend! I’m so excited to see him bond with her and see how he redirects only wanting our attention to wanting attention for her to play with him. I feel like dogs have different bonds with other dogs than they do with humans and I can’t wait to see their bond blossom

Hey! Can you share the links to the smaller collars that you purchased.. we are getting a puppy and he is 1.5pounds now and will be a max of 5. Thanks!

My puppy, Cynthia, loves to bite at/ pounce on my tennis shoes and/or socks when I wear them, sometimes I squeal really high pitched or stop walking until she calms down, and she stops, but overall she just likes my tennis shoes way too much.😁 Any suggestions?
You shouldn’t squeal when she bites you. You are reinforcing the behavior by doing that. Ever notice why dogs love squeaky toys? She keeps doing it to hear you squeal. You’re not a littermate so do not use this method. If you are doing reward-based (positive reinforcement) training, when she bites you have two options. One is to ignore and then redirect to something she can chew on that’s of higher value. It needs to be more interesting than your socks or shoes. The other option is to take away the reward. You remove yourself. Essentially it’s a time out. Keep in mind, this is not punishment. You are telling your pup, if she bites, play stops and doesn’t have access to you anymore. If she doesn’t bite, play continues. Play is the reward. Keep timeouts limited to 30 seconds to 1 minute. Anything more is overkill and the pup won’t understand what’s happening. I tether my dog to a table leg for time outs (you don’t need to leave the room).
