  • Triggered by the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, one man goes on a journey of self-discovery as he investigates a possible diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Follow along as the husband and father learns about himself and what his new discovery means for his life.
The book I refer to is "Very Late Diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome: Autism Spectrum Disorder." You can find it here:
    www.amazon.com...
This film was shot on the JVC GY LS300 with Rokinon Cine lenses.

One feature and strength shown in the film is radical honesty and objectivity about one's own life and conduct, instead of rationalization based on avoiding truths that would lead to personal responsibility. From what I see in the world, that is in short supply. Really great film. Thank you.

Thank you for this! I’m 38 and just know discovering I have autism. That feels so weird to say... It’s such a relief though, all this time I thought something was very wrong with me, felt like an alien, so apart from everyone else. Now, interestingly, with this information I feel so much better about myself!

This video was a true reality and awakening for me. WE all hear of autism but WE dont understand. This video helps to bring better understanding. At 40 years old this is so me. I just thought I was "normal". After seeing this DR on my local Pittsburgh news I had to check out the video. I watched it several times with tears and shared it with my wife and I told her that I feel like I finally can understand myself. She agreed I have 90% similarities to this video. May need to see diagnosis. But like this DR I function and own a business. But glad to have something to work with. Knowledge is power. THANK YOU

Thank you for sharing. I've often felt that "something just isn't right" with me, but your documentary & the transparency with which you share has made me feel confident & no longer ashamed to look into finding out what makes me "tick".
God bless you & your beautiful family!

Thank you for sharing this amazing documentation. So many of us never make the effort to examine and understand ourselves so thoroughly. I’m certain that you and your family (and students and clients) will only be stronger for your willingness to take this journey. All the best.

Oh my gosh EVERYTHING you said just connected with me. Random sensitivities to materials, smells, clothes and more. And the feeling everything. Wow. Just WOW. So mind blown and encouraged. Thank you for sharing your story 👏

Wow. This film is brilliant and as someone who was also diagnosed with autism later in life, I relate to this on a deep level. Your realization at the end is such an important one - we are different, not less. Well done and best wishes!

Me All Day. I don’t like sounds that come suddenly, I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TOUCH ME SOFT, I can enjoy something over and over again without getting tired of it. I have always felt something was off but I can never talk about it because people are very disrespectful about it. My last name is Slack and I had friends that would call slow moments “Slack moments”. I have always learned things the hard way as well. I have also had an issue with ordering OCD. I used to tap each finger repeatedly front the pinky to the index on each hand separately. Right hand pinky to index then left hand same order then right hand index to pinky then left same order than I was done. I did this all the time and I don’t know when or how I stopped. I have always been socially awkward as well. I have always been sensitive to someone calling me stupid. I have always been book smart and can pass test. Now I am wondering if it is hereditary. I see myself in my children but wonder if they are mimicking me or is it just them suffering from it.

50+ Female Tradeswoman. ALL the answers last year. Pandemic stirred up alot of things for alot of people. This short film was thorough and explained it perfectly. I may use it when officially diagnosed for my family. Thank you

Thank you! I appreciate it. I think you are right. A lot of people learned a lot about themselves during this pandemic. I don’t think I would have figured this out for myself had it not been for the pandemic.

OMG! This is my adult son! Thank you so MUCH for sharing this with us! He was diagnosed as a pre-teen. I feel so bad because my wife and I used to punish and berate him.😔😲 I have read so much on this topic AND have tried to be a very strong advocate for him.

Hi Rueben, do you mind sharing the name of the provider who finally spoke with you in Philly? I'm originally from there but have been in California for the past couple of years for grad school. Where was your cheesesteak from? Did you get to the final season of Atypical?? I would love to connect.. I sent you a message on IG.
