My Dad had one same as that one with 403. Rainy days you have to be very light on throttle or it will go sideways and tap someone beside you.

A few little things wrong, but overall a pretty damn good TA! These things are iconic. My old man had a '89 Firebird Formula, which was pretty sweet, but the 70s Firebird/Trans Am generation was really special.
Another TLC project car, but this is still a winner! Hey Nick, some people just don't appreciate old cars. Definitely a driver! Maple Motors car for sure. This will sell!!
Very nice ride ,these 79' only came with an automatic 403 cu in engine with 185 hp and 315 ft lbs torque , they were a big seller due to Burt Reynolds movie Smokey and the Bandit, this car is in grat shape should sell fast .
My brother bought a brand new 1979 trans am T/A6.6 WS6 with factory 4 speed white with gold bird camel color interior. Eight inch snow flake with gold inserts. The last of the 400cu big blocks . He wrecked it when it had about 30000 miles on it. Came from beamon Pontiac in Nashville. 😢. I always loved Pontiacs .@@KevinTurner-hr1wg
That's a sweet deal on a sweet ride. Someone put a nice cam in that 403, she goes! And I think the seats are fine, they're just really dirty and need a good deep-cleaning
The seats aren't dirty. They're just worn out. On those "hobnail" seat inserts, the tan hobnail dots are made over black material. You can see that on the unworn upper seat backs. So when the tan hobnails wear out, the black is exposed, and that's the black you're seeing...not dirt. They can't be "cleaned". The only cure is to replace the seat covers. Reproduction covers are available.
That horn has got the croup. If I remember correctly according to a hot rod magazine I read back in the day the 403 was an Oldsmobile motor that didn't perform as well as the 400 Pontiac motor because the 403 had more pollution controls that held it back. The 400 would bark the tires going from 1st to 2nd even though the transmissions of that time had more slippage than today's. Back then you'd get better mpg with a manual transmission nowadays the automatic often gets better mpg because of the improvements.
The 403 would do the same thing, I worked on them for a living, and every other slow car from the seventies the lower compression was killer of hp in these cars but the big engines still had some torque
The 403 didn't have more pollution controls than a 400. Both had EGR and cat converters. The Olds 403 had 185 hp and the Pontiac 400 had 220 hp. Plus in 79, the 400 came only with a 4 speed and with 3.23 rear gears. The 403's came standard with 2.41 highway gears. So with more HP and better rear gear ratio, the 400 was naturally going to be faster. But the 403 was still a good engine, with 320 ft/lb torque(same as the 400), and with a true dual exhaust without cats, and better rear gears, it will perform reliably. With some engine work to increase compression ratio, even better.
Nice to hear the word "wollered" I've been using that word all my life. My friends give me grief over it but where I was raised it's as common as anything.
Where are all these Firebirds coming from? That's like the 5th one in 6 weeks. I don't miss mine, I had one back in the day. It was a cool car but it was a POS rattle trap, all the interior coming apart. Both inside door panels eventually came off. Door sag cause they were so long, never shut right unless you had gorilla arms. T-tops leaked like a sieve. All sorts of mechanical problems with the drive train. Mine had the whoppin 200hp turbocharged 301 4.9L V8. My best friend had the 68 with the 400HO. It was red and primer in most places but a much better car with Cragers and 50's. I eventually sold mine and got a 1970 with the 6.6l Sammy Hagar red. That car I do miss.
You can see sun through the t-top seal on passenger side .. that may be why floor undercarriage looks like it had something, maybe rust covered by sealant. Axle on passenger side has something wrong... lots of buildup on passenger side. Can't understand why someone takes ac off of a modern classic. I had a blue one same year and model .. same engine. It would smoke tires easily even with ac on. Overall for age nice car to restore.
Not a TA 6.6 Pontiac engine, has to be the 403 Olds that should have 6.6 Litre on the shaker. In 1979 the TA 6.6 only came with a 4 speed, no automatics that only went in the Olds 403's
The slow motion sound of the exhaust is great!

Only thing I see it missing is Rebel flag plate on the bumper. Nice car
Oh there's sites you can order those from, don't worry! haha

I had one of these in gold back in '86... was one of my favorites!!!

So great you are able to use the gift of song along with everything else. Great car.
I can smell the B-O & spilled beer in that car all the way from Texas 😂
73 the most powerful year 455 closed chambered heads

The expressions are appropriate for a Trans Am, so fun to drive!❤
That just made my soul happy, thanks for the ride.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is the body style I love most. Not now though.

@grand73am that information came from one of the hot rod magazines of the day. They also claimed the 400 was faster. I never compared the 2 for myself

Lol nice , yep I feel like it’s a normal thing to say around here
Cool ride and the motor has plenty of torgue!! Thanks Nick for the ride!!
I'm taking that as a yes the horn work, that puts me up to 7 cars in row of being right. Got get to my record of 22.
It will be sold before it premieres
Maybe not , I think people will wait for the videos , they do most of the time
Im quite surprised with that 403!! I guess a good tuneup of that carburetor 👍🏼👍🏼
There is nothing like the sound of a cammed olds engine
Have the Same! 403 special edition
My dream car, maybe when I get a job I could get myself a project lol
Sweet Trans Am there Mr Bandit it'll sell quickly for sure
Looks and sounds awesome 👌 i say the horn will work on sweet ride 💪
Thanks for the ride brother
The biggest flaw on this car is the T/A 6.6 on the shaker for a 403 engine. That call out is for a Trans Am equiped with the Pontiac 400.
Awesome T/A day. Love it.
Very nice, I love it. Take my money! Oh wait, I don't have any. Oh well, I'd buy it if I could, it needs some love.
Man thanks for the ride!
Wont pass California emmisions😢
More to come!
Some really nice cars on up date this week
Where at how can I find where there at?
Google Maple Motors and you can see all current inventory
My first car!
Love it. Like them a little older though.
Love that car, but I don't do t tops, sunroofs, convertibles. You need to be playin some Jerry Reed while rollin in that :)
Neat car just needs a little love, but a good head start on a restoration.
Nice T/A but dont like the olds 403 in a pontiac. I have a 70 T/A 400 4 speed , 78 T/A 400 4 speed with ws6 w72 packeage. Both fun cars to drive.
I had one just like it only blue
Nick, What accessories, stands, or equipment do you use other than the mic and camera?
I have them all listed in the descriptions of the videos
78 400 4 speed,but these are nice!
My dream car
NICE CAR 🚘🚗🚘

Hey Nick!
You were wearing the black cowboy hat!
Right?
Beautiful car
That will sell fast
looks like driver seat has famous lean

Bought mine new in 79 for $6,200.00 400 4spd.
smokey and the bandit car.
Looks good should be an easy sell.
TRUMP 2024
my bet its not originally black exterior. any idea true color it was born with?
the body tag says it was originally nocturne blue...one of my favorite colors
Did you guys recently discover an abandoned Smokey and The Bandit museum lol?
Awesome car
If I had the funds it would be mine 😁
I thought we were going to stop somewhere and see some cool sh!t??!
Not a TA 6.6 Pontiac engine, has to be the 403 Olds that should have 6.6 Litre on the shaker. In 1979 the TA 6.6 only came with a 4 speed, no automatics that only went in the Olds 403's
Looks like original camel tan interior.
Hello today, bye bye tomorrow
owned 3
seria el unico trans donde me meteria XD jajaja porque es un TRANSAM jhajaja
That ain't no stock 403 runs too strong
Cam gives it away, plus the pretty blue fresh paint job!! Too clean, somebody has been in there!!
id send the horn, not fix lol
I’ll buy it but I want that hat..
lipstick comes to mind...
Maybe 19k
What trans?
That's a turbo 350 3 speed automatic, which is what came with the Olds 403 engine. It has a TCI Performance finned aftermarket deep pan on it.
black accents on interior dont belong there js
You know I love the vids, but if you're going to be sweating in all these vehicles, put a towel over the seat.
💦💦
U put your logo on the back of that trans am? What r u doing? Bad move.
😱
To much money for a old car with no ponies in my opinion. Drop in a real engine and transmission it could be ok mind you.
The ugliest year front end for Pontiac trans am and worst motor.
