I would like to point out that The Hearse Song was not originally by Rusty Cage, though they did make a very good rendition.
We don't actually know when The Hearse Song was composed but atleast older than 1800. You may be interested in looking at the many, many, MANY alternate lyrics. Songs this old spread by oral tradition tend to have alot of variations. The Hearse Song was popular during WWI for... obvious reasons.

I’m honestly not sure which is “better” your’s or Rusty Cage’s. And I love Rusty Cage’s music so much. I love this too though!
Edit: This one did give me cold chills so I’d say this version is slightly better. But they both will be in rotation in my playlist.
