- Saw Scary Stories to tell in the dark today! I thought it was amazing. I was so happy when this song started playing too! I made this version of the song to loop in the background of my Halloween exhibit this year! I got some really big plans this year!!!

I love this movie so much and Sarah's story was very tragic, I had never felt so much pain and sadness when it comes to fictional character. She wasn't evil, she wasn't different, she was a normal, smart, beautiful girl who knew more than her family wanted her to know and had to suffer greatly for it.. I am was so happy that Stella saved her in the end and she could finally rest in peace.
Spoiler alert
Well, actually, most people don't find this unless they have seen the movie... Sorry but yeah the movie was really good!
@@prod.internet I am so sorry! I didn!'t even realize to say Spoiler Alert, I didn't do it on purpose..
@@elvis.austin It's fine! I've seen the movie. Lol but the movie was great
She still works as a villain though and it manages to keep her scary. She was never killing for a genuine reason, she never stopped at her family, it was all just a blind rage on her part
Clare Assassin yah it’s true because when I heard the voice of her and the taser I felt horrible for
Being cared of her th story made me sad but the jump scared gave me nightmares
Who just watched it
I watched it yesterday. It was a fantastic film!
r Diaz I Watched It The Day It Came Out
I watched it twice! Such a good film!

I'm so happy they included this song in the movie. I was so excited when the realization hit me as I was watching the movie adaptation, that the song was in the first book!
I was also super excited!! Especially when it was being played over the opening movie logos! I got super giddy!
I really liked how the lady dancing in the music box was dancing on a skull.
The music box was really cool. I hope they make one so people can buy em!

hell yeah, i'm back here again cause i miss the movie so much, hope they sell a furniture of it or smth
The Hearse Song
Lyrics by Rusty Cage
[Verse 1]
Don't ever laugh as a hearse goes by
For you may be the next to die
They wrap you up in bloody sheets
To drop you 6 feet underneath
They put you in a pinewood box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks
It all goes well for about a week
And then your coffin begins to leak
[Chorus 1]
And the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
The worms play pinochle on your snout
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose
As you begin to decompose
[Verse 2]
A slimy beetle with demon's eyes
Chews through your stomach and out your sides
Your stomach turns to rancid grease
And puss pours out like melted cheese
You spread it on a slice of bread
And that's what you'll eat when you're dead
[Chorus 2]
And the worms crawl out, the worms crawl in
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your hair falls out
[Verse 3]
Your brain turns into maggot pie
Your liver starts to liquify
And for the living, all is well
As you sink further into hell
[Verse 4]
And the flames rise up to drag you down
Into the fire where you will drown
Your skin melts off as you descend
And Satan tears you live from limb
Your suffering will never end
[Chorus 3]
And the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
They'll eat your guts and then shit them out
And when your bones begin to rot
The worms remain, but you do not
[Outro]
So don't ever laugh as a hearse goes by
For someday, you'll be the one to die
And when Death brings his cold despair
Ask yourself, "Will anyone care?"
I like Rusty's version :)
Do they use Rusty's version?
Nope! They use the version that is in the book Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones. In the movie the old woman who owned the music box even called the song "You may be the next..." Which is what the song was titled in the book. It really shows they did their research when making the movie!
Rusty’s version is my favorite.
Man just said the whole song
I watched this movie like a month ago with my friend and when I heard this music box, I NEED IT
I have looked on Etsy and haven't found any yet, maybe after the sequel comes out, someone will make one.
@@bradleymayse I hope so
I loved The Hearse Song even before the movie came out lol but I love the music box version too it sets that creepy mood❤ I started singing this in front of my cousin and his dad he was looking at me like "wtf you bout to murder us or something?" xD it was funny
I remember going to the premiere of the movie and as soon as I recognized the song, I started singing loudly. Scared the hell out of a bunch of kids and adults alike and it was awesome.
I can't decide if your annoying or awesome
Am I the only one who heard this from Rusty Cage, and when it started playing during the movie was really tripped out, cuz I didn't know it was a song before Rusty sung it??

AshAfterDark it’s a song from WWI
@@Hello-gq2qv I know that now😅 but when I watched the movie I was like,, "tf??" Lmaoooo
Yea I started sing out loud because I remembered Rusty's version I sung it a lot in high school lol
This one of my favourite movies... it’s so tragic, yet so haunting...
I loved the movie! I was waiting for them to make a movie based off of the book, and when they finally did I went and saw it that same weekend!
I just cant stop hearing this again and again
Me toooo
Add some rain background to this and I’d put it on a 5 hour loop! (Not that I haven’t already played it 36 times) Music boxes are so calming.
That's not a bad idea!
Cemetery Doll I want to get it as my ringtone x
Barbara Brown imagine if you went to a funeral and this was your ringtone perfect.
Sarah loved that song
This movie was so good, miss reading the book in 5th grade th o
Same! that's why I recently bought them all!
I watched it yesterday and as a 10 year old it was awsome
Esteban Gallardo it reminds of that line in mean girls “Regina George punched me in the face...it was *awsome*
But the movie is a 15
As a 11-13 year old, I *agree*
Im gonna be honest, I thought the movie was ok but I loved the books more, but I did like how they added the song to the movie, it was very clever.
I'm gonna have to agree with you on that. The movie is pretty good, it's just missing something that would have made it perfect, what it is I don't know. But how they added the song, was fantastic though!
@@Jolly_P.A.L It should have been an anthology movie. Like Creepshow, The Twilight Zone Movie, etc.
Yeah, just like how trick r treat was! That would have been pretty epic!
@@Jolly_P.A.L Exactly.
If you play this when a killer is perusing a victim or about to pounce, this song could be a great song to put it over
I was so stoked when this began playing at the start of the movie! 😁
Same yo, same!! I was all like "OH MY GOD THEY DID IT!"
@@Jolly_P.A.L
I first came across Rusty Cage's version and then my best friend showed me some other versions! Eventually, I got to watch Scary Stories and loved it!
I found the song through the book a long time ago. And then one day I thought about it, and I wondered if I could find it online. And I found Rusty's. Then Harley's. Then the movie came out shortly afterwards
awesome!!!!!! i love both this song and movie xD
The movie was so good! I was worried it wasn't going to be good, cause I always wanted to see a movie based on the books.
IVE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR THIS THANK YOU!!!!😂😍
You're welcome!
🎶Don't you ever laugh as the hearse goes by,
For you may be the next to die
They wrap you in a big white sheet
From your head down to your feet.
They put you in a big black box
And cover you up with dirt and rocks.
All goes well for about a week,
Then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes
Crawl in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it on a slice of bread,
And that's what you eat when you are dead. 🎶
Hello! I just finished watching the movie and I just had to search up the music box! The movie was such a success and a throwback to my childhood. 11/10 would watch again.
I'm glad you liked the movie! It's definitely one of my favorite movies too.
@@Jolly_P.A.L It also adds a pinch of noglostia
Oh definitely! It's made me think of the first time I read the books as a kid, and the pictures scared the crap out of me!
@@Jolly_P.A.L You're not alone, I remember having nightmares because of those books. And seeing them on the big screen adds more fear to the mix!
Seeing those characters move in general was just so weird, After all these years of seeing them as still images.
When that music box started playing in the movie i scared the shit out of my mother because i started screaming/singing the lyrics
This is the best song to play on Halloween
This song is so good!!
Thank you!
The movie is incredible! ❤️❤️
I read all the books when I was small and still have them. I was so excited when I heard there was going to be a movie. It was wonderful!
When I heard this song back in the movie I was
“OH SHIT I LAUGHED”
Then freak out after that

One of my favorite horror movies, alongside A Quiet Place, and The Invisible Man
I actually haven't seen a quiet place, and the invisible man yet, I gotta watch them one of these days.
This is calming
Finally the "loop video" option just got updated into mobile RUclips, so I don't have to be sad lol
Oh man, this music is so nice
Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Weird this is I knew the song before the movie and when the part came on I just sang it and my mom sitting beside me was freaked out (I’m 14-)
I also did this. But instead I was sitting in the theater alone...

¡gracias! ¡Me alegra poder ayudarte a encontrar lo que estabas buscando!
Nico does stuff tu la hiciste o como fue que diste con esta version?
Hice esta versión. Lo necesitaba para Halloween
Nice song
Thanks!
Awesome cover. Did you do an exact cover of the version in the movie? Or improvise your own version? I also want to do a cover of this, but I cannot find the version from the movie anywhere.
I tried to do an exact cover, but I got mixed up with the original version, and the cover by The Rusty Cage. So some of it is improvised, but I did in fact get it wrong sadly. I was really close though. I do know however, that on the official Scary Stories movie Twitter page, they have a trailer for the movie where the song plays. that's how I found out I was wrong.
@@Jolly_P.A.L Thanks for the info! Don't worry your version sounds great!
@@kordas87 thanks!
Nico DS Has anybody transcribed the exact version?
I hope I can find the exact version in the movie. Seems like no one has done it. :(
It's kinda creepy that Lou Lou sing the song
She knows the song
Can someone please tell me, what the Sarah Bellows story is about? Because I am a super scared baby when it comes to horror movies, but I love the stories. I also love the hearse song. And seeing how you all seem to like this character in this comment section, I would really like to know more about her.
Well, Sarah's story is that she was a girl born to the family that settled the town the movie takes place in. She had some sort of disfigurement, and that caused the family to feel embarrassed by her, so they locked her away. People began dying in the town due to the family polluting the water supply. The family told the town that Sarah was killing them by writing putting spells on them through her stories. Eventually while trying to make sarah say she killed the people by electrocuting her, she died. And That's pretty much it!
Nico DS Thank you so much, for your answer. Omg this is really sad! I now get, why people sympathise with her so much.
You're welcome! Yeah her story is just really sad. What makes it worse is that the people who were torturing her were her family, and they recorded it so they could play it to the town's folk. But she died, so they faked her suicide.
Nico DS I feel like it is always much more sad, if it is the own family betraying you.
It Definitely is.
Didn't they take this from rusty cage?
No actually, this version is From the book. And from the 80's
This pre dates the 80's. I was born in 1980. My father taught me this when I was a little girl. He learned it growing up in the 1950's.
I watched this movie on the plane
I watched this movie wearing a white hoodie and black leggings. And a creepy personality
Everyone definitely watched it with a creepy personality!
Do you have a long hair? Cause you might be Jeff the movie watcher. 😅😂
Dorry le littó medium. But I weared this because it was jeff day!! Yesterday was laughing jack day. And guess what? Im only 10 :) and horror is a part of my life like 6 years ago
And all of the creepypastas are my favorite!! I can relate to all of them!!!!
@@alyaaaljuburi8495 oh my God, me too. My favourite is you. Cause you like all of them too. Oh. That rhyme.
Any chance i could use it?
Yeah sure go ahead!
Bro if it's on 0.75 it hit diffrent.
Huh, it does indeed hit different. Ha, ha! I kinda like it more that way.
Its creepy oh and it's cool
Could i use this for a cover?😅
Of course! I'd love to hear your cover when it's out!
Sad song : (
While the movie wasn't all that great (I was hoping it would be multiple stories and not one all together) I still very much enjoyed the music
I was also hoping for something like the movie Trick R Treat, a bunch of short stories that all lead to one ending. But they managed to make something pretty decent! I'm so glad it wasn't a huge flop.
@@Jolly_P.A.L I've never heard of Trick R Treat, but leading all to one ending sounds much better than what the movie did. A friend of mine mentioned that they might either make a sequel or a prequel if the movie does fair :0
@@Bonez-Yard yeah from the ending they left off on they definitely made it so they could make a sequel of some kind. Hopefully there will be a sequel, cause I just want to see how they will finish the story of these new characters.
Same here, maybe they'll have Lana Del Rey sing for us again
@@Bonez-Yard maybe!
So we all know Stella right?
And the actor has a YT channel, Zoe and Nich
Isn’t that cool?!
I have the scary stories to tell in the dark
I wish you could purchase this music box as it looks and sounds in the movie somewhere. Be it Amazon, EBay, Walmart, Target, Hot Topic. Just somewhere. I would love to own it
I've been looking online for a few months now. Sadly I haven't found one yet. We can only hope they make one though, cause it'd be awesome!
It would be a great collectors item along with her book of scary stories and maybe statues of the creatures
Oh absolutely! I do know They do have some Funko Pop figures of Harold, and the Jangly man. As well as an action figure of Harold coming out soon. I also think there might be a version of Sarah's book too? I'm not sure. But I think the music box would be the coolest thing to have!
I listened after I can see a white clothes woman outside my bedroom.......

*sigh* i seen the movie and i listened to this while drawing wally and opposite facing each other like the men they are and someone asked me: are you drawing two men kissing? ',:/
