I actually edited this bit out of the video cos I ballsed it up! They are not good on hard pads, the texture of the vortex dot is quite hard, so you dont get any benefit from using them on hard pads. Recommend not doing it.

I received my Obsidian Pro today :D I haven't had the time to play with them but on the wraith control I don't have any LOD problems on my MZ1 (they look quite thin compared to the red obsidian). So for now I'm very happy with them (even though they're quite expensive). I hope this material will keep its promise in terms of durability (but if skypad and x-raypad are behind their creation I doubt it will be disappointing in the long term). They are my new favorite skates out of the box (maybe until TJ exclusive CeraSkate release). And the fact that they decided not to make the same excessive curved edges as on the red obsidian for me is really a very good point. Great review, keep up the good work

I must only use skates that are not too thick with some mice and be careful if i buy other mice which do not clearly have two options for the LOD (1mm and 2mm) so... R.I.P brands like Razer and Logitech for now :S. I will not buy another glass pad before selling my Superglide Polarity when it will become out of stock everywhere so i will still use the wraith for a while. Then i will try the Cerapad KIN or the new control glass pad from the whale (i don't remember the name) or any other good control glass pad that will be released until then. I really hope that the CeraSkate will be the cheat code for infinite durability on hard pad :D
Yes and I failed to mention the sound in the video! I don't mind the sound personally, but to address your point, the vaxee skates are a softer material compared to the Obsidian Pros, which makes sense when you talk about increased noise levels on a hard surface
since you got to try UHMW feet now, i'd love to see you try out diy UHMW feet. a 16 meter roll should cost about 10 bucks. mine is quite thin (.28mm) so i have to fashion something to get a consistent fit. ptfe skates aren't completely flat, so punching out dots out of the tape and slapping them onto the skates isn't the best way there is. if this all works out it effectively means ULTRA cheap mousefeet until the end of time.

I have the cyclones, the edgerunners diy and the vortex’s but i can’t perform well with vortex cause they’re too slow and they restricting my aiming ability i need a between like not too fast but not too slow aswell ! What do you think it’s better ? Cyclone or edgerunners? For mostly tac fps !

Hey Mark! Reportedly (from Ghostglides) there is a break in period, but I have played on them for a long time now and they don't appear to have changed in any meaningful way so far. Although I am using them on 3 diff mice, I've sunk about 10-15 hrs of use into 1 pair and they seem similar to the 'out of the box' experience to me. It may vary depending on the pad you use? I'm not sure though, I've been using the GSR 2 mainly - which isn't at all abrasive.

just put an order in for a skypad since they had another huge clearance sale, would never buy one at full price though. needed a new pad since my zowie gtfx is starting to be quite worn and has slowed down in the middle a fair bit. would have got their obsidians too but seems they're out of stock sadly. based on your feedback, I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for when they re-stock

I've used mouse accel for a really long time and I think the low static friction and faster initial mouse speeds will probably need some fiddling of my sens/accel curve for a little while, so ideally I'd like to settle on something to find a new baseline before dropping money on anything else really appreciate your skypad 3.0 review btw, no nonsense and straight to the point. made it easier to imagine what to expect
@@LogPileGaming will do :) out of curiosity, I've never understood why people talking about mouse feet mention surface area as though it affects the friction. the physics formula for the coefficient of friction doesn't factor surface area in at all, nor is it a factor in things like vehicle tires. 200hp motorcycles on street legal tires have a tiny contact patch for example, but that doesn't lead to them doing burnouts on every motorway on-ramp. motorbike tires are only made stickier than car tires due to the much lower weight of bikes, as mass is factored in to how friction is calculated in my experience the only thing that changes between dot mouse feet and larger ones (assuming they're both made out of the same material) is that on cloth pads the dots sink into them much more easily, making them feel slower since the plastic underside of the mouse drags more on the pad. obviously on a hard pad though this just doesn't happen. it's why on cloth pads I tend to add the extra feet a mouse comes with around the sensor so that when the middle sinks in, only PTFE touches the pad. if surface area affects friction, I'd notice a drop in speed from doing this but I never have. I'm pretty confident you could try adding more obsidian dots to one of your mice and you'll see that the glide on the skypad won't be affected, if anything spreading out the weight of your mouse+hand across more than just 4 dots will probably extend the life of them by decreasing the wear on each individual dot
@twpsyn I've seen this point raised a number of times, and all I can say is it certainly feels like there's a difference to me. It's possible that is some sort of placebo effect, but if nothing else, a bigger surface area tends to provide more surface feel "feedback" through the base of the mouse and maybe thats what I'm confusing myself with. You raise a good question, I'm not sure what the answer is honestly! To me dots have always felt faster than a form fitted mouse foot. But I'm no physicist! Maybe you could try it on the SkyPAD?

Thanks Knocked! Yes they're very similar to the Cyclones I tested here except they are a slightly bit bigger. I've used the normal obsidian dots for a long time and they're a great option 🫡 and yes they're a bit faster than the obsidian pros

I was thinking of trying the xray/skypads for cloth for maximum control until your video ! What do you recommend for max control/friction then for cloth in your experience, obsidians?
I am currently using the Obsidian Pro skates on a GPX on a pulsar superglide glasspad. The control they give has been great, and now I am kind of looking for slightly more control even. I play on a very high sens, pure wrist aim so low static friction is a must for me, but right now I still get slight airhockey feeling. Would you recommend the Cerapad KIN or would that be too drastic of a change? My 2nd fastest pad is the Artisan Raiden and even with jade skates it has way too much static friction for my sens.
I personally love the cerapad kin, but it would be a big change from the superglide (almost like an entirely different surface to learn), I would maybe look for a wraithe esports cosmic glass control (note ive heard from some viewers they have tracking issues with new skates?! I didnt have this issue). Or you could consider the Atlas, its a great pad with slightly more control than the superglide.

So I been doing research as I just order padsmith dark chaos and I noticed at the end of the video you said the skypad collab didn’t make much of a difference on it. So would you say to still get obsidian pros or cyclones then? This is my first glass experience. Looking for something balanced. Coming from otsu soft and ice skates.
Hey, I have tried it again, and there is definitely a difference between the Cyclones and the Obsidian Pros, but it's just not as noticeable on the dark chaos pad as it is on others. I'd recommend using cyclones or the normal obsidians if you plan to switch between surfaces, or the obsidian pros if you want to only use glass and want a slightly more controlled experience, with maybe an extra 15-20% added stopping power and dynamic friction.
I might do, I hadn't considered it until you asked! I'm not a huge glass feet fan cos I cant use them on my glass pads 😬 and i switch surfaces all the time 😁
got my skypad today, using with jade dots gonna upgrade to obsidian / skypad dots in some time. love the skypad for ow2, but aimtraining not really and fortnite also not really, but for 55 euro an endgame ow pad is such a deal. prolly gonna try some other glaspasds after i buy one more mouse (will use current one only on glass to avoid hair)

Hey Joseph, my monitor is a Dell S2721DGF, I think it's 144hz, and I did a tonne of research at the time, but that was a year or 2 ago now! When I upgrade my laptop to a desktop, I'll get something a little beefier I expect, and have this as a 2nd monitor.

funny side note to the Obsidian Pro's. They are actually slower and louder than the Vaxee stock skates made from virgin PTFE.

I have heard jades are very fast? Well, vortex are VERY slow. They are super controlled, I like them alot but they arent for everybody
