it's actually mental how good he has done with us. From a team that was absolutely awful getting only 3 points from 12 or 13 games to now being only 4 points from playoffs just over a year later is mad. A couple good signings in jan and I genuinly believe we can finish top 6
With a lunatic chairman, a below average squad and a sometimes unforgiving fan base. Danny rohl is doing a phenomenal job. I hope he says for as long as possible but I think he’s destined for the top.
Great video and really insightful analysis. My only frustration is that we often throw away the first half of games and wait until half time to change things. We have got away with this a few times this season and the fact we are 9th in the table is fantastic. If we want to be genuine play off challengers we need to start games on the front foot and make things a bit easier for ourselves. Not knocking Danny at all as I’m more than happy with where we are this season, just an observation that I know many other fans share
Jack I have said this before on the comments section of your RUclips videos. You are probably one of the best unbiased bloggers on RUclips. How someone like the BBC has not noticed your talent and signed you up is a mystery to me. Well done on your interesting and entertaining content. Keep at it you have a great future ahead.

We have one decent defender, tons of injuries, no strikers who can score and yet we are winning games and every week we've no idea what the hell is going to happen. It's unreal where we are in the league with this squad Danny has done amazingly so far.

You're also a bit unfair on Josh Windass, (unless you want to hide behind classing him as a non-striker).

I think you ilustrated Shea Charles' significant contribution and why he, like Bannan and Beadle, has to be among the ever-present starters on a team sheet.
It all depends on the January transfer window, Jack, he could easily get us into the top 6,but the miracle he achieved last season you couldn't put anything past him, he could go to the very top, just hope it's with wednesday
He's already said he sees us as a project, so hopefully he'll see that project through to the end, in which case I can see a new glory era ahead for us.
Wish he would get the formation right from the start instead of having to come from behind in a lot of games. He must have analysed Middlesborough's stile of play before the game.
He was also assistant manager at Bayern Munich, not just a coach... By far the best manager in the EFL, ppl rave about there own managers but bias aside he is and I mean by far the most tactically advanced manager on the English football league, he has game management skills and tactics better than most premier league managers.... He's learnt a lot over the past year or so and is also improving even more as a manager which from an opposition point of view, absolutely terrifying.... To get a squad that was certain for relegation back to league 1 in contention for playoffs and a possible promotion to top flight inside a year and 3 months is absolutely unheard of... Tactically he’s incredible. The substitutions were critical too, he often speaks of team members being ‘squad or impact players’ and often this is clear in his pre and in game selections for me. Some of our fans in chats say ‘why doesn’t X start’ - I think Danny knows who his available impact players are and has a plan B for tactical changes for the match and doesn’t start certain players for that reason. Chalabah, Sven, Musaba and my personal fave Valentin are all in that list. He brings these on and opposing players are overwhelmed. This is evident in our ‘coming from behind’ stats and winning from a losing position results. Hope we get to keep him for a long time - let’s see what Mr Chansiri really feels about the club 💙
I’m feeling confident this season, I’m just worried about Danny’s future at the club, I genuinely believe if we do well he leaves 🫠 But I do also see the passion in the man and genuine love for the club. Hope we do well in the foreseeable future and I also hope our owner backs him in January 🤞🦉
Thanks for the video. The camera shows him often with the tactics board, I’m sure some managers do it just for show, but not DR, the guy is intensely clever. Up The Owls 🦉
Glad someone else spotted the interview after about changing shape to the 4141 and the quote you used really showed , first half they was brilliant in build up and deep build up we couldn’t get near them with our shape, just showed why ratings on apps mean nothing because I was watching barlaser in that first half make everything tic for them he was constantly moving into spaces and wanting the ball and even when not he was making certain rotations to drag players away and make other passing lanes to get them up the pitch the football they was playing was brilliant, Hackney wasn’t as effective as him but he was occupying a false full back position giving gorges freedom to play higher aswell and watching the way they was playing and overrunning us I feared we was in for a serious hammering after the second went in, but Röhl does what he does best I mean it doesn’t always work but more often than not he manages to tweak the shape and make changes in personnel that can effect a game and don’t get me wrong the red card helps in this factor but the change in shape and extra midfielder could see it taking effect rapidly we pressed a lot higher and was more aggressive and didn’t let them build up even before the red card, had a brilliant effect on the game just like the data in this video showed. Really hope chansiri lets him get some business done not only in this window but in future ones because I’m not sure how long he will be with us he will move onto bigger and better things but hopefully will leave the club in a better state than when he joined because he is seriously over performing with our side. Love the togetherness in the team aswell 🦉
Red card had no effect at all we had pulled 2 back before the sending off if anything i think it helped Boro more than Wednesday it made them go a more defensive shape.
excellent as normal jack and your right to point out Charles he's key to this season, I'm a little worried if we lose him in January and we don't replace him its back to normal for us
Hi Mate, yet another Brilliant video, You're simply the best stats man around. I just Love watching you. Great win for Oxford by the way. I think you have enough too stay up this season, Keep up the Outstanding work you're doing mate ⚽️⚽️⚽️
First of all, I think DR is a great data analyst. If I take data as not only a close observation of the opposing team and the ability of his own team, but also the actual progress of the game, then DR can work with this data like not many managers in the Championship. In over a year, it hasn't occurred to me that he has explicitly lost a game tactically. Plus the team follows him and the club owner respects him. The result of this mix is the current position in the table, built on sophisticated tactics and a strong team spirit. Now a lot will depend on strengthening in the winter transfer window, I think there is a chance of reaching the Premiership play offs. UTO and WAWAW from Prague!
To be fair, we didn't set up to play a low block and be so defensive the first half, we were just so so bad. The worst we've ever played under Danny. Every player has an off day and we just couldn't get the ball and nobody was chasing. Forget tactics, the players has a rocket up them at half time. He was absolutely fuming. Yes tactics were changed, but I think the rollocking was the main reason. So much love for Danny. When he goes it's going to be impossible to replace him
I'm delighted to be this good so far with a chairman who hates us and refuses to spend lots of money and a squad that many consider not good enough in the championship Danny is doing a magnificent job
Hey Jack, Wednesday fan here. My biggest worry is that will Roehl take life-changing money NOW, or will he stick around and get both life-changing money, and a place in the SWFC hall of fame ? There's still half a Season left to play. Roehl is on the radar, in Europe and England, and Wednesday fans don't count on anything...even after a 3-Nil comeback, in the second half.
He will manage at an elite level, the most tactically assured manager we’ve had in the last +20 years. Making it harder and harder for chansiri not to find money to back him, we need to make 3/4 quality signings in January and hope they work as well as Charles loan has. Then hopefully push on for playoffs, would have been happy with mid table at the start of the season. But Danny can get us there UTO 🦉
The team still doesn’t feel like it’s clicking, our first half performance expose some fundamental flaws in our side but what I do appreciate about Danny is his willingness to put things right, the amount of points won from losing positions must be ludicrous and, as a Wendy of many moons, that sense of fight he has installed into the lads (as well as his tactical skills) is seriously impressive. Actually, now I think about it and in case any other teams read this, he’s bobbins, total bobbins x
A lot of us are suprised we are sitting 9th given our form has been pretty inconsistent all season, except for our away form in the last few months. If Danny is backed by Chansiri in the transfer window we could be optimistic about a top 6 finish. If not then we would be happy with top 12, showing continued progress.
While Carrick isn't a genius. Plymouth could have been 4-5 nil up against Boro last week and we were awful. No excuses again yesterday, he didn't know what to do. Dropping Latte Lath is baffling, the continued rotations that destabilises the momentum is crazy. We score for fun but teams can just cut us open for fun. He has a very talented squad but his formation is completely vulnerable.

Hello Jack we was 12 points safely last season top 7 form help us stay up on final day Brilliant but we need more better players in January & Chairman Chansiri has to back him in January we’ve been lend to believe he will that’s why he signed a New 3 years contract in the summer! Best chance of premier league football if he’s backed by our Chairman Mr Chansiri 🙏🙏🙏🤔👍👊💙 SWFC very loyal fans deserve it & more 👏👏👏👏👏 Remember they have most expensive tickets in the Championship 👍👊
Speaking as a Wednesday fan you've got to love Danny, but he does my tree in a bit when we try and play out from the back. It's something that sounds a bit alien to the British game, but I'd rather have defenders give it some wellie up to the halfway line and then pick it up from there. If Wednesday improved the defence by quickening up player reaction times, man-marking and taught players how to read the game better, they'd be up there. Overall, Danny has done a brilliant job since taking over
I'd say a couple of things. First, Sheffield Wednesday is nowhere near 'great again' (yet!). Secondly, when Danny makes incisive substitutions, one could sometimes look at it the other way and ask how he got it so wrong in the first place. That said, we all love the bloke and he is working minor miracles with a squad which is not exactly brimming with talent. If he is allowed a fairly free rein to deal in a couple more transfer windows, maybe, just maybe, our 25 year absence from the top tier can be ended, and we haven't remotely thought that for a long time.
I'm a Wednesday fan and unfortunately I don't think Röhl will be with us next season. He is destined for great things. I would bet a lot of money that in 20-30 years, he will have won a lot of trophies with a "big club"
Also got EVERYONE talking about us 🤪 You all LOVE WEDNESDAY 😂😂😂 But for the record!!!! We are a mid table squad that is punching above our level. January will be important for us!!! You must all be so pissed off that Danny chose to stay with the sleeping giant 😁😁😁😁
he needs to play 3 in midfield 1st half then wouldn't be 3 down.. There was no guarantee that the 2nd half was going to turn out how it did & we've had a few hammerings because gung ho setup in past

First was a catalogue of errors from Boro, when lath should have squared for a goal
Hello Jack we was 12 points safely last season top 7 form help us stay up on final day
Brilliant but we need more better players in January & Chairman Chansiri has to back him in January we’ve been lend to believe he will that’s why he signed a New 3 years contract in the summer!
Best chance of premier league football if he’s backed by our Chairman Mr Chansiri 🙏🙏🙏🤔👍👊💙
SWFC very loyal fans deserve it & more 👏👏👏👏👏 Remember they have most expensive tickets in the Championship 👍👊
Overall, Danny has done a brilliant job since taking over
Remember we have little to no investment and no ground improvements since Euros in 96. If we were run properly nd had investment.... 🎉❤
What tactics did he use against Watford then?
Evidently not the most effective ones
Wednesday come back kings😅
They absolutely are!
@TheJackWardFootballPodcast. Pretty easy when the opposition commit football suicide and hand the game back to you.
Ffs here comes young fan curse
Also got EVERYONE talking about us 🤪
You all LOVE WEDNESDAY 😂😂😂
But for the record!!!! We are a mid table squad that is punching above our level.
January will be important for us!!!
You must all be so pissed off that Danny chose to stay with the sleeping giant 😁😁😁😁
Come on Wednesday
he needs to play 3 in midfield 1st half then wouldn't be 3 down.. There was no guarantee that the 2nd half was going to turn out how it did & we've had a few hammerings because gung ho setup in past
We get overloaded in midfield all the time. Concede way too many under Rohl
Windass best number 10 in the division!!
How do you work that out? 🤔😳😂Finn Azaz, is. Check the stats.
Until Preston just beat them 3-1, that's 1 point out of 6 in last two games 😅
Getting excited about conceding 3 goals Get a defence
back to normality against 11........ lmao
We need to get rid of Johnson he’s about as strong as a glass of water
He’s crap don’t listen!! (Lifetime contract plz?🥹)
