To me "Such rituals" infers him speaking specifically about the rituals to cast spells tho. If he had said "The Jedi don't need rituals" it would be one thing, but the such makes me think Sidious was just angry about how without Vader's help Windu would have likely killed him.
@@benburk7765 Im not saying he's perfect or anything, but I think looking at having pride in what you do as being a bad think is quite shortsighted, especially something that would be so important as being the guardian's of the light. Obviously they should have had more foresight.
He said “such” rituals. It is the type of ritual Windu was speaking about. It was the magic type rituals of the out side of self as opposed to inside of self. The Jedi purify the self while the Sith corrupt it. One gains their power and strength from within the other from with out. So “such” rituals are the rituals were supposed power is gained from with out that Mace Windu speaks of. If Sidious hates and disdains something that is a Sith form of respect.
I believe that he meant using spells and such to wield the Force or to achieve certain results, but it seems to me that there were Jedi who did similar rituals, which is why Sideous makes it sound as if he is merely commenting on temples and titles, when his real meaning is, everything the Sith do, the Jedi also do.
About point one, agreed. About the other, whould he tho?. It's far more likely that he played possum to get anakin to full commit himself. It is kinda left open technically but not really, give how much power he held back n could just switch on. The disfigurement wasn't caused by losin control over the channeled energy. It was the illusion no longer kept up. That i think, also wasn't a sign of being near defeat cuz it certainly took way more efffort to keep the suddenly doubling output of pure force in check, than what would b freed by not using it otherwise. Further he knew he won't ever need that illusion again if he succeeds just as he would have to face the most powerful enemy that would no longer b fooled by it, in case his gamble would've failed n anakin stood loyal to the jedi. It was all or nothing but not life or death fscing windu. That would've been the likely fate of the future path he was about to create by killing windu instantly. He would've been exposed, alone n unable to start the purge.
Honestly, I view Mace Windu and Palpatine as mirror images of each other. Which makes sense, as Mace Windu was written as a kind of narrative parallel to Sidious. His fall was the fall of the Order, and was brought about by his arrogance and surety that his side was infallible. Very similar to the fall of Palpatine and the Sith in Episode VI.
Did he say “the Jedi didn’t need SUCH rituals” or that “the Jedi didn’t need rituals”? Those are 2 completely different statements that would change the narrative of the video in my opinion.
Exactly. When I heard that I immediately thought he was referring to the sith spells and those rituals that were needed to conduct them not rituals overall
Windu used the term "such rituals", which gives the implication that he wasn't against rituals in general. It is the kind of rituals that the Sith engaged in that Windu opposed.
The part about not wanting to train Anakin, there’s more to it. In episode I, all the Jedi masters saw the darkness in him. That’s why they didn’t want him trained. They sensed corruption, he was unstable in his emotions. It wasn’t that Mace was ignorant.
Several points about your clear misreading of Windu’s character: 1) Windu did NOT write “The Jedi have no need of rituals.” He actually said about *specifically* Sith spellcasting rituals: “The Jedi have no need for SUCH rituals.” In other words, Windu is ACTUALLY saying, “Though we Jedi do value ritual in our reverence of the Force, history, and the Order’s tradition’s, we do NOT need rituals for casting dark-side SPELLS.” You didn’t pay enough attn to the actual diction or semantics of what he wrote. 2) You said Windu was “unprepared” to face Darth Sidious. Need I remind you that WINDU ACTUALLY HAD DEFEATED SIDIOUS? It was ANAKIN Windu had not paid enough attention to, and thus didn’t anticipate his treason.
I don't know if it was on this channel or another one, but I've heard people say that Mace Windu was the perfect representation of the Jedi of the Republic. He wanted all the other Jedi to uphold the code, but he felt like he could break it for whatever reason. IMO, he was such a staunch advocate for the code because it was one of the things that kept him from falling to the Darkside, and he knew it. If I was putting it in DnD terms, he'd be more lawful neutral instead of lawful good.
I believe that was more Plo Koon who is considered to be the perfect Jedi in his morals and value of all forms of life (including clones which Windu did not agree with)
I believe Windu is talking about "unnatural" rituals, rituals that bend, break or distort the flow of the Force. Jedi hold ritus that is common for all sentient life. To be born, to reach maturity, to grow old and to die-it's all a part of life and thus feeds the well springs of the Living Force and Cosmic Force. This is natural and it flows with the Force, and Jedi acknowledge this and pass it on to the next generation.
By this point in history the Jedi had become an institution of the Galactic Republic and were no longer the independent order of religious monks that they had been for eons. Mace Windu is a living embodiment of this progression of the Jedi and their inevitable downfall because of it, being a servant of the Republic first and a Jedi second. From the Revenge of the Sith novelization: "Because Mace, too, has an attachment. Mace has a secret love. Mace Windu loves the Republic. Many of his students quote him to students of their own: Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. For Mace Windu, for all his life, for all the lives of a thousand years of Jedi before him, true civilization has had only one true name: the Republic."
The rituals that the Jedi use are ceremonial, not something done in order to achieve some goal, so Windu was correct, Sidious was completely wrong on this.
I do think Windo was mistaken about Jedi and he stand for everything wrong with the order, but he was right reject the Chosen One the rank of master for Anakin was honestly not yet ready for the rank should he and rest of the council maybe come up with a new rank such as High Knight where it will be knight sitting on the council and get a bit more access to the archives then most knight along
@@Vskage65 you have a point and one of the reasons is his lack of self control. Anakin did a lot of good but he is too young and lack self control to be a proper Jedi Master
He can't be everything wrong with the order because that would be yoda. Yoda was born into the Republic at its peak and lorded over the jedi to their fall. No one is more directly responsible or had more opportunity to guide the jedi and the Republic then yoda and you see where he guided it
I think to a degree he did but he was never able to cultivate it. The two biggest examples are Anakin and Luke on both cases Palpatine knew they would drastically effect the events around them. In Anakin's case whether Palpatine believed him to be the chosen one or not he knew I must bring to my side to win. In the case of Luke it was the same while the Rebel Alliance was able to still field a force to oppose the Empire, Luke destroyed the Death Star, bo easy feat, yet he may be the long list chils of Vader which meant he could be as strong if not stronger than Vader and witn both of them gone the Empire would crumble, so Luke needed to be brought before either to be turned or destroyed. But if he could see the future Palpatine would have known that both were too dangerous to him to keep alive at a certain point, hence why he didn't didn't or couldn't cultivate it further.
Idk about shatter point and I’m also a bit of a noob to the Star Wars universe but it’s been said multiple times palpatine would go into deep meditation that he could bend the force to his will or even feel “disturbances in the force”. How he found out about Luke and him being Vaders son.
Imagine in a plot twist that Mace W went to deal with General Greveius and Obi-Wan confronted Sidious. What would the 3rd act of the film be like, would it be Mace W vs. Anakin and Yoda vs. Sidious or the reverse 🤔?
Anakin wouldn’t betray Obi-Wan at that stage. There’s a reason why Palpatine wanted Kenobi either left behind (on the Invisible Hand), somewhere else (ie Utapau), and/or dead: he has a strong bond with Anakin (Kenobi has his faults, as does Skywalker, but they do see each other as brothers, not to mention that they’re _The Team_ ). Now instead of a prior antagonistic relationship with Windu, you have a relationship with Kenobi that you know wants what’s best for you (not perfect but you know he’s got your back) and that could either change from probably gonna betray the Jedi for Padme to being tipped towards staying loyal to the Jedi (if not being more in the middle)
I understand that Windu had SEVERAL opportunities to end the Sith single handed but because of how ignorant he was, he couldn’t see the truth. I also believe he wasn’t meant too cause the Force had to get back into balance before good could overcome. On the same token, Clone Wars showed us that he wasn’t the only one that failed the Jedi. Shaak-Ti with her immense knowledge couldn’t see that Palps was evil and when she had the info on the clones having the Order 66 chip, she failed to really fight to have that looked into. Even failed to see that Anakin was the threat in the Temple Massacre. Obi-Wan with training Anakin from the very beginning and Yoda failing to see the deceit. There were a lot of Jedi that failed the Order, yes Windu was one of them, but that doesn’t make him a dumb character or and idiot.
I feel like this, whole thing is being taken out of contacts. He is talking about ritual magic. Not the traditions of the jedi. This is like saying because you poach eggs, you should go to jail. Poaching is poaching whether it's an egg or a rhino.
I think saying that mace windu had a coffin of failure is so wrong. He was such an amazing jedi and destroying his image like this is terrible. With anakin as a shatter point it isnt fair because he already had many predictions about him and being the chosen one that there was no way to actually for-see his turn to the dark side. Also the interpretation of windus comment was wrong, The dark side rituals were more like dark magic and spells and the light side was more like training and self purifying. Also the he follows the rules of the jedi so much because they are the only things keeping hime from turning to the darkside. also rushing sidious want dumb, he would have won but because anakin messed up shatter point he couldnt predict his loss, also not making him a master or wanting to train him was probably because he sensed how bad he messed with shatter point. I dont think Windu deserves this disrespect.
i recently watched clone wars again and started thinking about how many Jedi there were and that all these different jedi many not as powerful as Yoda but had there own special gifts like people in today's world. some have quick wit with no depth then others with superior intuition. i find it hard to believe that not one of these Jedi had the ability to sense Sidious's true nature.
Windu obviously meant that no Jedi powers required ritual, and insofar as Jedi don't need to make arcane hand signs or speak in dead languages to enhance their bodies or affect the world, it's true. However, at least in Legends, I think about particularly powerful abilities like Wall of Light. Although it didn't seem to have arcane or prescribed forms, it does seem more ritualistic than most Force powers. I wonder if there is a - mostly unexplored - Light Side answer to Sith magic.
Palpatine could have killed mace earlier on in their fight but he was arrogant and played with his food. But, because of Vaapad, the longer they fought the more equal mace windu would become in the force to sidious. Mace was already equals in terms of lightsaber technique when compared to Yoda, Sidious, and Dooku. However his power was at most equal to or a bit strong than Dooku. But while Cycling the dark side emotion he equalled the playing field.
Its very obvious you have a bias against Mace Windu! It doesn't really matter what An Arrogant Dark Lord like Sidious felt about Windu because he was bested in battle by him. We all know his feelings about Anakin was right the boy was lusting for power and his EGO was out of control. Every negative point you make about Windu is invalid. You sound like a Sith Apprentice.
Just because he was played by Samuel L. Jackson. Doesn't mean that Windu wasn't an asshole. If anything he should have been more wary considering all the time Samuel L. Jackson's characters die because they are short sighted dumbasses. He got eaten by a shark! A fucking shark!
“Such rituals” doesn’t mean *any* rituals. Edit: sidious isn’t ever unarmed. We literally see him try to continue killing mace after he loses his saber. Many of these were really not that hypocritical. Anakin did indeed turn out to go very badly. So did dooku. Mace beat sidious, so he was not at all overprepared, but also not that underprepard either. It was anakin that messed that decision up.
Next to Pong Krell and Ki-Adi Mundi, Mace Windu aggravates me the most as an individual. He is the perfect representation of why the Jedi Order and the Republic didn't mix well together.
In the aftermath of one of the older wars that predated Yoda, the Jedi and the Republic army conducted a galaxy wide search for Sith artifacts. The search started with the ancient Sith strongholds, which is more than likely where the book was found.
I mean... this rather misses the point. It's not about the Jedi being trapped in ceremony etcetera, which is to a degree, true. What Windu is getting at is that the Jedi don't need props like ceremonies or spells to actually wield the Force. Now, one might argue that this cuts off a degree of options, but the guy's also got a point - they don't need to bother with flamboyant spells or fancy tricks, they just use the Force.
Given up vote, simply because there is work put into this and I know that the algorithm is tough on people and it can be tough to make money on RUclips. I appreciate that you try to work hard and put out videos My issue lies in the amount of subjective information. You interject into these videos, and make comments that are entirely incorrect sometimes. Please explain to me how mace window went after the emperor completely unprepared? As George Lucas said he literally defeated the guy. It was not a game of possum. Although there is a component where the emperor knew that he had to be injured, the only way for that to happen without dying, was to actively fight all the capability that he had, and mace window, defeated him in cyber combat. and was redirecting his lightning and killing him when Anakin Skywalker showed up. His failure was to realize the shadow point he did not go unprepared. He brought a strike team of incredibly capable Jedi that you have made your own videos of describing them as anything, but losers like many uninformed people often claim due to how quickly they were killed. There was nothing week about that group and particularly kit fisto was one of the best people that he could’ve brought. Mace went there, after having been on the track of the Sith Lord, according to the prequel media project novels, labyrinth of evil and others that transitioned into the revenge of the Sith timeframe. No mess was hardly unprepared. He had been thinking about this, and as soon as Skywalker told him his suspicions about the chancellor being the Sith, Lord, base, executed exactly as he should’ve with the information that he had. None of the Jedi were aware of how completely they had been deceived, so it is incorrect to say that he went unprepared based on the limited information he had. The other things you say about me, so true. He was arrogant and blind to the fact that he and the Jedi were vulnerable. And he believed, for some reason that following the existing Jedi code would allow him to achieve whatever was necessary. He wasn’t flexible enough. But I just can’t get over demonstrative statements like that that actually contradict your own videos, talking about how the strike team was a very competent group of Jedi, and that Miss handled the situation. Well there needs to be continuity to your videos man you can’t just make statements that contradict yourself all over the place.
Yep. Bang on assessment. While Obi-Wan may have been the underlying reason Anakin chose the dark side, it was Mace Windu who ensured Anakin was put into a position to choose... a long with bringing down the Jedi.
If Count Dooku had remained on the council and not turned to the dark side then most likely Anakin wouldn't have either. Dooku would probably assisted Obi-Wan in training Anakin and provided a much more nurturing grandfatherly role.
I believe what Windu meant by saying “such rituals”, was specifically alchemy and magic. Even more specifically, rituals to gain power. Windu definitely was the poster boy for issues with the Order but, he wasn’t meaning “tradition” when he said that.
Okay the rank of master thing, while I can see how it upset Anakin beyond him not getting what he wanted, Windu also wasn’t completely wrong in that bit. Everything else, yeah. Windu’s a damn good general and combatant, but damn if he isn’t the most shortsighted
@@lastzulu180 Agreed. He’s my favorite character but I can see why the Council didn’t make him a master. But I can also see why Anakin would be upset cause he was basically being handed a kiddy seat and told “Yeah we don’t respect you, now we want you to spy on your friend”. If they just straight up said no, he would have seen it coming a mile away cause he even said they wouldn’t be chill with it
Whole MW decision of not acting up with Skywalker seems to me as definition of what Jedi order and Anakin where to each other, missed chance. Taken his origin (reaction on experiments of Darth Plagueis) and personality type( there is video about it, innovator who brings change), I believe that Anakin's role is last chance from Force to Jedi before order 66. Palpatine plans would probably worked even without Skywalker, because how adaptive he is, but Anakin could change Jedi and show them their weakness. He even teach his student battle style, that counter betray of clones! Anakin was last gift from Force to old Jedi order to save themselves, but they, as with uncomfortable truth happens, ignored it and saw problems with him, not themselves.
I like mace windu. He wasn’t perfect, but he was pretty good still. He was bad ass fighter, has the coolest lightsaber, and beat Palpatine in their fight. Hands down one of my favorite Jedi.
Living with discipline and casting spells are quite different. The Jedi practice ritual observance aka a system of rites. Casting any spell while they require a “ritual” it’s not an observance of a rite or protocol.
Mace was supposed to face Sidious with only Agen Kolar as backup. He was extra prepared knowing that Yoda perhaps underestimated Sidious which was true. Mace also believed in AOTC that they should tell the Senate about their struggle to see clearly through the force which is not a very arrogant thing to admit.
Wow! It wasn't terribly difficult to see who you agreed with. I think that you share some of Palpatine's distain for Windu. In my humble opinion, this video was a scathing indictment on Windu as a person which may not be justified. I agree that Windu like all Jedi of his day were subject to arrogancy and pride, but the many failures he endured cannot be laid at his feet without really acknowledging what he was up against. Windu used his Shatterpoint ability masterfully but was drastically crippled when the Jedi lost their ability to see the future. Windu was aware of the connection between Anakin and Palpatine which is why he helped create the plot to have Anakin spy on Palps. The goal was twofold: if Anakin found proof of Palpatine's connection to the Dark Lord the war would be over much sooner and if Palpatine was innocent, the relationship between Anakin and Palpatine would be damaged beyond repair which is what he truly wanted. It may seem immoral but he was willing to take drastic measures to ensure that the chosen one was not compromised by his political allegiances. Windu and Palpatine were both playing chess against each other but Mace was hopelessly overmatched. Not because of a lack of personal insight but because the Dark Side truly DID cloud everything. Mace was playing Chess without being able to see the pieces or the entire board! Palpatine had the advantage. He observed their strengths and weaknesses daily while the Jedi were unaware of who he was. This is textbook psychology which dictates that "An informed minority will always hold the advantage over an uninformed majority". The Dark Lord and his apprentice were the informed minority. And as the Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine was the ultimate gatekeeper, holding all the keys and controlling the flow of information on both sides of the War. My apologies for the long reply but the truth of the matter is that the Jedi had lost long before the war began. Even Yoda acknowledges this to be true during his final duel with Sidious. As for Windu's quote on ritual, as with all things in Star Wars, what he said was true "From a certain point of view". It would be the equivalent of one man's religion being perceived as superstition or magic to another person. Ultimately, I do believe that Palpatine wins the argument due to the fact that he was more knowledgeable about the Jedi order than MOST Jedi. The Sith were Reborn though Bane with a 1000yr head start on the Jedi. Mace was not to blame, he was just hopelessly in over his head!
I remember that MW did in fact believe, that Jedi are first protectors of Republic and servants of Force second. He believes, that peace equals Republic so they need to protect it for every cost. This shows, what was wrong with Jedi order. They weren't able to see or do something about flaws of republic and rather dealed with consequences that source of problems. For MW, Jedi and Republic were too close to each other to separate them. Maybe that was reason, why he didn't see problem with taking control over Senate.
Count Dooku represents all that is wrong with the Jedi order. However it was his Padawan, Qui Gonn, that went against Jedi ritual and told the council that he would take on Anakin as his padawan. Ultimately, Anakin sacrificed himself and brought balance to the Force, demonstrating that the Will of the Force is stronger than it's participants.
I think that Palpatine did feel Windu was a fool because when he fought Windu and the other Jedi masters it was 4 against one and these four were considered top 10 Jedi yet Palpatine knew he had a fight but not one he took seriously. But Windu was absolutely wrong in that what the Jedi considered procedure and force abilities the Sith would have considered ritual, spells, and magic. Windu forgot a very true philosophical line that myth and superstition is science yet discovered. Even the procedure of of a Jedi Padawan moving to the rank of Jedi Knight may be so common it's look at as a simple promotion but each event has specific things done. Windu like many of the Jedi on this time forgot who they were which is the brighter reflection of the Sith.
This a Windu Bashing video huh...I guess if you wanna make Anakin not guilty for turning to Dark side and excuse him for the astrosities of millions??? Just blame Master Windu.
I know George Lucus made Star Wars, but I think Mase Windu was right about Anikin about not training Anikin to become a Jedi and Darth Sid was tricking Anikin. When Anikin came into the seen I see that Palpatine face change and he saw Anikin and he started tricking Anikin
We need a two part origins movie release on Darth Sidious. Have it cover his early years and run right up to where he disposes of Darth Plagueis. What would be good titles for those 2 movies?
How would Mace Windu write in the Book of the Sith, if Sidious is the one who made the Book of the Sith? How could Windu write in a book being made at the same time?
Windu is well known for beating up on himself. He did not feel he was infallible and he often felt he was missing something, not seeing something. I wonder if his worrying blinded him as much as his belief in the Republic. But arrogance was certainly one of the faults he battled with. One could say that the dogma of the Jedi and Sith are both steeped in arrogance.
A better question is. How easily would it have been. For Mace too become a Sith? Had he, succeeded. In what he was trying to do. Too remove Sidious from the board. Given the fact. He was using all of his dark tendencies. For his Jedi abilities. From the sound of it Mace was, vary close too being a Dark Jedi. At the vary least. If not well on his way to becoming a self made Sith.
I actually think the idea is Palpatine misinterpreted what Windu said, What Windu wrote: The Jedi have no need for such rituals. What Palpatine read: The Jedi have no need for rituals. It’s an easy mistake to make and it would make sense for someone as intelligent as Palpatine to still fall into that trap.
Sith fanboys like Stupendous Wave are predictably missing the greater point Windu made: the Sith were arrogant enough to believe that it was their right to bend the Force to serve their whims instead of acting in concert with it, which is why they typically resorted to using rituals and spells to pervert nature. The Jedi have no need for those rituals because they act in concert with the Force and nature.
Mace Windu went after Palpatine after Anakin outted him as a sith lord. He beat the shit out of palpatine, bit Anakin had already turned. Windu wasnt an idiot, he was one that took action. He didnt sit back and wait. His style was always do the unexpected.
"I have asked around...and all some are willing to say is that Master Windu...is bad at caring for his mother? My sources all mumbled the last part. So of course I incinerated them."
I feel it might be that to many jedi force magic wasn’t innate thus the organization as a whole would have looked down on it and call it wholly dark sided and since windu was quite rigid he would look negatively on spells.
He ment casting spells ritual but .Its not ritual to help him. The force guides them. It seems like ritual for people looking from the sidelines or the outside looking in.
If mace windu had knowledge of the dark side like dooku did he would have grown far more powerful than he was his brother had far more raw power than him
As Yoda tells Luke in ESB, the Dark Side doesn't make anyone stronger. It's just more seductive and provides an easier pathway to power since it demands that the user draw on their negative emotions for strength. The trap comes from ppl believing that it can make them stronger. It is for this reason that Dooku still got schooled by Yoda, despite years of immersing himself in the Dark Side.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 Dooku rarely actually immersed himself in the Dark Side. On top of that, someone as old as him could only do so for a brief period before degrading. The Dooku in episode 3 was far weaker than the one in episode 2. As for the Dark Side making you stronger, it does at least in comparison to the rigid Jedi doctrine of the time. Drawing on the Dark Side is as strong as immersing yourself in positive emotions like what happens later on.
Mace Windu disarmed & defeated Sidious in 1 on 1 light saber combat. That statement came out of the mouth of George Lucas himself. If it wasn't for Anakin coming to the aid of Sidious at that very moment, Sidious would've been killed by Windu. The battle between Yoda & Sidious was a full stalemate/draw. So everyone who actually studies Starwars films & Canon knows that Sidious is NOT the strongest sith lord to ever exist. Sidious is only #3 at best. Sidious is just embarrassed & salty that Windu actually defeated him. Lol
All who set themselves up as the keepers and protectors of others are suspect, this includes the Jedi. The draw of Power is too much for ANYONE to resist once you've had it. Absolute Power can be had easily, if your absolutely corruptible. Pride insures this. It also insures that you will be supplanted, sooner or later...
The biggest mistake Mace made was hiding the Jedi vulnerability! Imagine using the internet to create your content, and then you loose your internet capability and use dial up to to try to edit and manage your RUclips channel. You should go for help. Mace was in that very position. He even asked Yoda( instead of telling him) should we infothe senate of our diminished ability 2 use the 4S. #sad
Slander. All of it. But especially the part about not making Anakin a master. He very clearly was not ready to become a master and Windu was 100% right in not granting him that rank. A true master would have understood he wasn’t ready and not thrown a little baby tantrum about it.
What is this Book of the Sith that Mace Windu wrote in? Why did he have it? How did Darth Sidious get it? What book, game, comic, or show is this lore in?
I think you are wrong in your comments. Windu simply meant the Jedi didn’t have rituals for casting spells. Further Mace was correct, Skywalker should have never received training and lacked the discipline to sit on the Jedi counsel
Correction mace windu did back anakins training this is explained in the revenge of the sith novelization it was primarily Yoda against it he was more open minded back in the day before war time even supporting qui gon becoming a master on the council because of the diversity of opinions while yoda was again against it we can even go at this from a black and white perspective you don’t attempt to create a dark side lightsaber form if you’re close minded
To me "Such rituals" infers him speaking specifically about the rituals to cast spells tho. If he had said "The Jedi don't need rituals" it would be one thing, but the such makes me think Sidious was just angry about how without Vader's help Windu would have likely killed him.

Besides what that “such” person said. Mace windy was not incorrect to kill Sideous, siths are never unarmed
The part about not wanting to train Anakin, there’s more to it. In episode I, all the Jedi masters saw the darkness in him. That’s why they didn’t want him trained. They sensed corruption, he was unstable in his emotions. It wasn’t that Mace was ignorant.
yup in the books they saw the anger in anakin. yoda especially didn't wanna train him.
100% Mace Windu was the best jedi
My thoughts exactly.
From the Revenge of the Sith novelization:
"Because Mace, too, has an attachment.
I find myself lately having your voice as my inner Star Wars voice when it comes to reading articles or stories.
It's "star wars reading club's" voice for me.
Could the aura of grand failure yoda's failures be so large it blocked the vision of all the competent jedi in the room? Would explain a lot.
The rituals that the Jedi use are ceremonial, not something done in order to achieve some goal, so Windu was correct, Sidious was completely wrong on this.
Imagine if they brought mace windu back. I see so much art of how he'd look if he were to re-appear within cannon. It's obvious we want him back 😅
Poe Dameron: Somehow Mace Windu has returned.
Would love that and him being super humble knowing how he screwed up and let the jedi fall too ruin
True,Anakin was maybe a hero, but he was a bad jedi.Had he listened,ha he not married Padme, things might have gone differently
No one is more directly responsible or had more opportunity to guide the jedi and the Republic then yoda and you see where he guided it
@@deadend1041All I know is that Luke didn't redeem his father by obeying Yoda. I'm too baked to consider what that means though.
@@DeathScepter he lacked patience and wisdom
Seeing this video made me wonder if Palpatine also had the Shatterpoint ability. How else could he stay 5 steps ahead of everyone?
Hmmm...oversimplifications abound. I didn't realize that Palpatine was so stupid. Fascinating.
I mean, it literally does. Just because everyone else was stupid doesn't make Windu any less stupid.
I feel like this, whole thing is being taken out of contacts.
He is talking about ritual magic. Not the traditions of the jedi. This is like saying because you poach eggs, you should go to jail. Poaching is poaching whether it's an egg or a rhino.
He said "Such rituals" hence those types of rituals not all rituals.
I dont think Windu deserves this disrespect.
exactly destroying his image with HIS opinion
Little did he know he would be bested by him.
It makes one wonder what would the Jedi Order have been like if Dooku had gotten the seat on the council instead of Windu.
i recently watched clone wars again and started thinking about how many Jedi there were and that all these different jedi many not as powerful as Yoda but had there own special gifts like people in today's world. some have quick wit with no depth then others with superior intuition. i find it hard to believe that not one of these Jedi had the ability to sense Sidious's true nature.

Yaaay another video bashing Mace windu and why he's the scape goat for the jedis downfall. smh
Exactly i think there is some undertone of racial bias here..
Not just him Yoda and mundi as well
@@777OGU nah

Nothing to do with race
Windu obviously meant that no Jedi powers required ritual, and insofar as Jedi don't need to make arcane hand signs or speak in dead languages to enhance their bodies or affect the world, it's true. However, at least in Legends, I think about particularly powerful abilities like Wall of Light. Although it didn't seem to have arcane or prescribed forms, it does seem more ritualistic than most Force powers. I wonder if there is a - mostly unexplored - Light Side answer to Sith magic.
I took it as Windu saying Jedi didn't need those specific rituals. I never saw it as a statement on rituals in general.
Windu was blind to a great many things as would Siddious become ultimately costing him his life.
You keep dreaming
Can you imagine first time mace sees anakin, executed him on the spot seeing the shatter point
he did he said the boy should not be trained did they listen
Relying on Shatter-point also made Mace Windu tunnel visioned. Not something to have on and off the battlefield.
Agree 100%. Great video. 😎
How did Windu get his hands on the book of the sith to write in it
In the aftermath of one of the older wars that predated Yoda, the Jedi and the Republic army conducted a galaxy wide search for Sith artifacts.
I appreciate that you try to work hard and put out videos
My issue lies in the amount of subjective information.
Sideous’ lightning was only Windu’s second worst roasting after this video
I believe what Windu meant by saying “such rituals”, was specifically alchemy and magic. Even more specifically, rituals to gain power. Windu definitely was the poster boy for issues with the Order but, he wasn’t meaning “tradition” when he said that.
Very impressive video
And to think if mace had just done the logical thing and stabbed palpatine instead of going for a swinging kill that made no sense
I have a question remember when dooku cut of Anakin's arm what happen to that arm did the Jedi take it and burn it?
Okay the rank of master thing, while I can see how it upset Anakin beyond him not getting what he wanted, Windu also wasn’t completely wrong in that bit. Everything else, yeah.
Windu’s a damn good general and combatant, but damn if he isn’t the most shortsighted
facts anakin had the power of a master but NOT THE WISDOM of a master
@@lastzulu180 Agreed. He’s my favorite character but I can see why the Council didn’t make him a master. But I can also see why Anakin would be upset cause he was basically being handed a kiddy seat and told “Yeah we don’t respect you, now we want you to spy on your friend”. If they just straight up said no, he would have seen it coming a mile away cause he even said they wouldn’t be chill with it
A Sith on the level of Sidious is never unarmed. Killing Palpatine would have been the right call, even if it made Windu the biggest hypocrite.
Palpatine: "Yeah he got lucky, I tripped. He ain't sh-t let's go again I'll beat him this time I bet! Put money on it!"
What if there's a jedi that has shatter point, psychometry and foresight.
Jedi building a council chamber on an old sith temple, leads me to believe they were easily clouded in assessments. Build on a swamp, get poisoned
I wouldn't say the one time he talked with the droids should count, as he was obviously just stalling for time.
We need a two part origins movie release on Darth Sidious. Have it cover his early years and run right up to where he disposes of Darth Plagueis. What would be good titles for those 2 movies?
anyone knows the name of the music at the beginning of the video?
How would Mace Windu write in the Book of the Sith, if Sidious is the one who made the Book of the Sith? How could Windu write in a book being made at the same time?
The Book was a later compilation of Sith texts. Mace just wrote in the margins of Sorsuz Syn's diary.
I'll never understand how Palpatine was able to never be felt as a sith in front of ALL the MASTERS and how he was able to hide his yellow sith eyes
What's up with the near 2 minute stock video at the end? Is it just to increase the length of the video for engagement?
I actually think the idea is Palpatine misinterpreted what Windu said,
What Windu wrote: The Jedi have no need for such rituals.
What Palpatine read: The Jedi have no need for rituals.
It’s an easy mistake to make and it would make sense for someone as intelligent as Palpatine to still fall into that trap.
If they spend time thinking about you they are then you are a threat
Pride makes idiots out of the greatest of people.
The irony of basically having a hyper awareness ability and 0 self awareness is just...
I think Mace was clearly referring to a specific type of ritual.
I feel it might be that to many jedi force magic wasn’t innate thus the organization as a whole would have looked down on it and call it wholly dark sided and since windu was quite rigid he would look negatively on spells.
Mace biggest mistake was trusting or turning his back on Anakin in Palpatines office!
might be just me but "such rituals" means Windu is separating the Jedi's rituals from the Sith's rituals
I would love for him to do an audiobook of both the sith book and jedi book.
He ment casting spells ritual but .Its not ritual to help him. The force guides them. It seems like ritual for people looking from the sidelines or the outside looking in.
If mace windu had knowledge of the dark side like dooku did he would have grown far more powerful than he was his brother had far more raw power than him
If he actually turned, he would just adopt form 7 and lose the one thing that gave him any real advantage.
@@trutyatces8699 but he will have more force abilities like force lightning force drain force rage ect
If not for his hypocrisy, Sidious may have come up just shy of clinching Anakin's fall.
It so ironic that a Jedi of windu caliber was so arrogant & lacked so much wisdom.
Windu’s arrogant’s was boarder Line idiotic.
This party’s over..
Mace Windu was a #TDBank card holder...
And yet for the Sith's "superiority" they only ruled for like 20 years and were defeated by a moisture farmer...
Lol
Thats freakin council seat swipe in Tales was the final straw were I now view Windu as a villian. Evil? No. A villian nonetheless.
The Force is strong with this one.
I would not say he was unprepared against sidius. He beat him easily.
So, Sidious thought Mace was a Wind(u)bag. Interesting 😅
All i see is how people continue to knock the Jedi especially Windu. Literally the only master that sensed a plot to destroy the Jedi
