If the mask command sent the file to /dev/ null, where does the unmask command retrieve it from ? (Apologies in advance if it's a silly questions I'm new to Linux)

Hey. No such thing as a silly question :) The mask essentially creates a soft link to /dev/null. The unmask just removes the softlink. You can learn more about soft links in another video of mine: ruclips.net/video/IDjoYh2EPQ0/видео.html. Hope that helps :)

@@compsecgadgets okay got it. I went through your softlink/hardlink videos few days ago,it was explained very well. I've been having issues with the boot section with your videos-and other videos- do I have to download centos or redhat, or is it because I'm on Ubuntu and some commands just wouldn't work.
Thanks again for taking the time to record and reply to comments.

No problem at all. Yeah you are right the reason some commands don't work on Ubuntu is that is relatively different to red hat or centos. Essentially red hat and centos are derived from fedora, Ubuntu from Debian. Both of which use different packages to achieve largely the same result. For most compatibility best to use red hat. Hope that helps!

    Hey Colin,
Really loving all the videos! If I could ask a few questions...
How many years relevant Linux experience do you have?
How difficult was the RHCSA v8 exam for you, with your prior experience?
Is LDAP configuration in the exam? It seems like they've done away with that ability in RHEL8. If they do use it on the exam, or some other type of external auth, could you make a video on that subject? Thanks again for all that you do.

Hey @G C, I have about 10 years of experience with Linux. Found the exam pretty straightforward, though I believe that the exam focuses on areas that aren't that often used so not too important the background, maybe 2-3 years is probably enough. LDAP authentication has been removed and its location authentication only now, which makes it easier :)
However do plan to do a video on that in the future but for now planning on getting all of the objectives for the RHCSA covered.
