One of the things (out of others) that mba school will evaluate is academics. Here, IITians and NITians would get an edge over other colleges. But other colleges can compensate by doing well in other parameters like leadership, diversity etc.

Post this, I worked with the Govt. of Delhi in their Education Task force as an Education Policy Consultant, and took up projects such as "Constitution at 70" and "Mentor Teacher Programme" in this role. Post that, in this covid times, I went back to teaching in a government aided school, since I strongly wanted to contribute to education in these unprecedented times, when education sector has been facing a whole different challenge, and the apparent technology divide that becomes ever more evident.

Hi Soumi, I have a degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from IIT Madras (Batch of 2018). After graduation, I started working as a Product Engineer in an IT Startup by Maybank in India. I have 2 years 2 months experience as of today which qualifies me to apply to ISB this year. I am planning to apply in Round 1. I will be writing GMAT by the end of the month. I'm freaking out because I don't have a score in my hand yet and very few days are left to finish my essays before the deadline. My only doubt is about GMAT. I don't know how to prepare. While there are thousands of resources available for CAT, it is not same for GMAT, especially because they don't reveal their exam papers.
Hey - use the GMAT official guide. That's the best. And then practice 1 paper everyday for 10-15 days. And analyze ur answers. That's what worked best for me
Definitely do the GMAT official practice papers. And the ones that come with the Manhattan and other prep books. If you need more, go for any test series. GMAT is standardized so not a lot of variation in these test series

Personally I've grown a lot from them but I have the desire to excel and grow in my career and not let the failures hold me back. However I doubt if these things make my profile inadequate for consideration. You being an alumni would have better idea of what profiles make it. Would love to hear if you have anymore information or thoughts on this. I really appreciate it.
@@mridul7639 hopefully your performance in bachelors will be compensated by your other grades. Multiple attempts in CA - is that not normal, or do people always go through in single attempt? In any case, I don't think it is a big deal, because you have cleared it in the end. All the other things, if you think of them as setbacks, it will continue to hold it back. I think a better approach is to contemplate all that you might have learnt from that phase. Did you do anything meaningful during your gap year? If it is due to illness it is very understandable. But if not, were you trying to do something during that time? Basically, as long as you justify those introspecting thoughts in your application story, you will be good. Also, rather than focusing on if these will hold you back, you should think of your future goals and why you want to do an MBA. That's what matters. ISB will not dwell in your past as much as your future ambitions. Hope that helps!

A bit about my background : I work at a non-profit in their marketing department and have 2 years of work-ex. Rescuing a dog made me realise why I wanted to join a non-profit and make a difference. I hope to get into ISB to understand the business aspect of orgs. Even a non-profit is a business. A business of doing good.

12th - 93.8%
B.Com (Hons) - 62.9%
In college, I was a core committee member of ENACTUS.
In school I have participated in various sports and I represented Assam team in a national level Hockey tournament.
I am really really keen on getting through ISB! However, I am yet to take the GMAT. I am looking at submitting my applications in R2.

Got it. Your profile looks okay. It all depends on if you are able to showcase the skills (eg when running the family business) in ur essays plus a solid story why ab MBA from ISB will help you.
