- The first call you get is an interview pre-screening call. The hiring person is checking to see if you are the kind of person who they want to bring in for an in-person or longer video interview. In this call the hiring person usually wants to know three things:
1. That you can do the job.
2. That you are still available.
3. That you are interested in the company and might be a good fit.
✍ If you're trying to figure out how to answer those three things, check out these videos on writing cover letters, which is helps you figure out how to answer those questions:

Such a clear and fantastic video, thank you!
What a relieving explanation. That was really good.
Thank you Kerri, that is really helpful!
You have a pretty soul Kerri.
Here is another question you might get: The phone screener may ask you if you understand what the days and hour of the position are. I have heard of supervisors at my job make offers to candidates only to discover the person is not available nights and weekends.

Thank you very much, you soo beautiful and what you're saying is too.
What if you’re not interested in the job and just want money????
It depends on the job. If the person you're talking to seems to know it's just a job and would be put off my disingenuous passion, I think saying, 'I am looking for a job because I need one and I have the skills." I would add something like, "I'm reliable and straightforward and once I know a job, I'm good at spotting how to improve things." Something that shows you do have skills and they can trust you.
I have been on the hiring end when someone's over-enthusiasm over a low-paying summer job made me feel they weren't the right fit. If they had said, "Listen, the market has been tough and I need a summer gig to get my bearings," I would have hired them.
