This vid is worth a lot to me. I got this very chainsaw to fix from a friend. I'm not a professional but got many small engines back to work. When I wanted to clean the carb headache started. Thanks to your video I have a good instruction now and the puzzle is solved.

Hi, i have this chainsaw and there is no oil coming to lubricate the chain, i don't know where the problem come from , the oil pump ?

    • @Allenr1967

Sorry for such late reply. Tech says to check the bar and pump slot to see if it is not clogged. if you take the bar off. Below the bar studs you will see a slot that goes down to the rubber head of the pump. Make sure it is not filled with sawdust. You can check the pump by running it with the bar off and watch for oil to pump out. if it does. Check the two holes on either side of the bar mounting slot. Those two holes have very small slits that allows the oil to go from the hole to the groove in the bar that the chain rides on. And make sure the groove the chain rides on is not filled with dust.
      I hope this helps.

Why would choke not stay on , as soon as I pull to start it pops off Hatachi cs40ea

    • @Allenr1967
      @Allenr1967  4 года назад

Choke is only for start up. It's designed to release when the trigger is pulled after startup.

I asked our Tech for any other common issues that may be the problem. He said there is a change to the trigger linkage and the anti-vibration spring might be too loose. Take the cover and air cleaner off to expose the trigger linkage. If it goes over the top of the choke linkage, you have the old one. If it goes under the choke linkage, you already have the new trigger link and the anti-vibration springs may need to be tightened. What is is happening is when you pull the rope. the top of the housing is moving around too much and bumping the chock to release it. The new trigger link and proper tightening of the vibration springs should fix it.

    Hi Allenr1967,
I have the same chainsaw But mine don't have primer bulb but have choke instead from the factory.
I was wondering to install primer bulb.
    What do you think?

    • @Allenr1967

I've been told you have to change the carb, fuel tank and side cover where the primer is mounted. But if you call the Factory Service center at 866-775-9429 and ask for Jack. He can tell you more.

I was cleaning the carb on this and knocked over my can holding everything.. I've found everything excep the fuel inlet needle and I've tried to find it online but can't find anything.. tried to find a whole carb but can't find that either.. you happen to know where I can find it? Or other carbs that will work?

Does your saw have a primer bulb or is it one of the early models that does not have the primer? Without primer is part number 6685437 (WLB-3).
      With primer is part # 6698683 (WLB-5A)
WLB- is the Walbro part # that may be much cheaper.

Hello I hope someone can help. I have a NEW CS33EB Chainsaw and it will not stay running! The primer bulb would stay stuck in when trying to prime the saw. Found what seemed like the factory hooked the lines up backwards. I switched the fuel/carb lines and it will now prime. It will start and run for only about to 3 sec. Like not getting any gas. I have tried adjusting the carb with screws out or in. Only time I can get to run at all is with low screw out 5 to 6 turns. Then NO high RPS at all just dies out. What is going on? This is not the first carb adjusting I have done but never seen this. Any help would be great!! Thanks!!

Hello. I’m having a problem after the chainsaw has been running for 5 minutes or so it will shut off and I can’t restart it. It seems that it won’t restart until the chainsaw cools off. I don’t think it’s a fuel problem as it’s running a good 5 minutes at high speed cutting power. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dave

That description is commonly associated with a bad coil. The coils carry a five year warranty. If the serial number manufacturer date code or the copy of proof of purchase is with five years. It can be covered under warranty if the coils are still available from the factory. *Unless a psychical inspection finds it to be a different problem *

The chainsaw is older than 5years and has been trouble free. Should I replace the coil or do you think it’s time to buy a new one?? Thanks for your help!

It would not be worth having a local shop replace it. With current height labor cost. But the manufacturer offers free estimates and is currently offering free shipping to thier Service Center. It would only cost your time. Just fill out the shipping label request that is half way down the web page link below.

Don't ship the bar and chain and drain all fluids from the tool before shipping.

Thanks again! If I ship them the chainsaw and if their estimate is too costly would they ship the chainsaw back to me free of charge? Just don’t want to put a lot on money into this as the chainsaw is approx. 7 to 8 years old.
