16 seconds in and I found what I needed!!!! Absolute legend. I was sticking flat heads, Phillips skrewdrivers and Allen keys in there and couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. 🤟🏻🇬🇧
@@fermentedworld glad it helped.
Dang! This guy is the Einstein of pneumatics! I was about to throw in the towel and junk my nailer, but I will definitely finish watching the video and give it another try tomorrow. Thank you for the best instructional video, probably in existence!
@@user_skjd82ji Thank you
@@Allenr1967 The piston rod unscrewed from the plunger and a gasket was bad. Bought a $20 rebuild kit, followed your very detailed and easy to understand instructions, and back to new! Never could've done it without you. Thanks!!! Liked and sub'd
@davidalexander843 Thank you so much. I had a manager long ago always say, "keep it simple".
@@Allenr1967 👍👍
Does the regulator also fit the DA Brad fixing gun?
@@markbarnes5073 yes
Hi, could you help me to find one of those metabo reduction valves no one has any stock of these anywhere. If not do you know what that small brass fitting is on the end of the hose? I'm thinking I could connect that directly into my tyre inflator which has an automatic shut off, dial it up to 110psi and re fill the tank. Thanks
@dannym670 each of the three regulators are different psu. not 110psi.
Can I remove the original spool and put on a separately purchased no string one on a Radley Grass Trimmer? And THANK YOU for making this video. SOOO MANY videos say they are removing the spool head but they are only adding string. 🤨
@sondra6500 as long as it us compatible. They are usually industry standard.
Hey How frequently is this to be done. Thank you
Ey mate can you use that connector in all the gauge nailers framer, 15, 16 ,18
Need to replace the pull starter string
Very simple when it is already loosen
This is just what I needed to see. Only the nail pusher didn't just set in there for me. I pushed it all the way up (with no nails) and that set it in place until I could put the bottom latch back on.
Thank you!
Straight to the point and exactly what I was looking for! A+!
Great video, concise, no bs. Just got a regulator, after a month on back order. Is the psi the same for the 18ga and 16ga too?
Nope, two other regulators are used for the 18 and 16ga
@@Allenr1967 so this is just for the framing nailers? Seems unnecessary.. do you know the part numbers for the other two regulators?
@playerzero0000 it's first generation tech for them. The first three models had their own regulators. 371208, 371209 and 371210. All models since 2015 have used one of these three regulators.
Wow thank you
Thank you. Worked for proulan electric trimmers.
Only a few main manufacturers of those gearboxes. Glad it helped.
How do you put it back in?
You have to just put in on the housing as evenly as possible and with smooth, steady, straight down medium force. Push it back in. If it starts to lean to one side. Stop, straighten it up and continue until it all the way down.
Thank you for the explanation of operation and tear down showing how it goes together and all the knowledge of what happens with these nailers. I dropped mine 9 feet right onto the concrete nothing appeared damaged but it wont fire anymore... Now I am certain my issue is the body was bent inward and the cylinder can't move.
Common issues with nailer drops.
With the regulator I removed the hose and put a 10 mm long socket over the screw and hooked up the hose again. Was much easier to screw it on. Saw this on another video.
Good video ! The reg kit seems hard to find.
They were back ordered for a while.
I just did my 18g gun. Boy what a difference.
Yes, the finish nailers are different but still the same basic principle.
What i mean is I needed to see the magazine disassembled because I had a jam, took it apart and cleared the bent nails, but when I put it back together a spring and the guide fell out unexpectedly so I thought surely, a video titled FULL DISASSEMBLY would be a full disassembly, including magazine.
Due to time. There is a separate video for the magazine.
Full disassembly... Except for the only part I needed... The magazine. Thanks!
There is a separate video for that.
What type of regulator you need for a milwakee 18v cordless framing gun?
Have to ask a Milwakee guy for that one.
The best video on RUclips! On how to take the whole nail gun apart! Thank you sir!
I’m trying to fit a weeding wheel to mine. Any tips? Thanks
Great video! Thank you
Thanks as others have said saved me a heap of time
It’s a good video, but I have no idea why you would need to do this. He never talked about why this maintenance is necessary. Please advise.
The tool is filled with compressed air that drives the piston to apply fasteners. There are seals that wear out eventually, and that air begins to leak. This process refills it.
Thank you sir. You saved the day!
My 15 gauge hitachi hastbe firing pin stuck open and wont go back ? What do i do?
Could be a faulty position sensor or broken pinwheel pin. If you're not familiar with taking it apart. You might want to find a service center.
Thanks you for this demo on different types of head removal. Saved my day.
Thank younfor sharing this. Instructions for the NR85A(S) say just to slide the rod to engage contact actuation mode. I can not for the life of me get that rod in the trigger to move far enough. Worst instructions ever. Thanks Metabo. Any input?
You’re a life saver! I jammed my nail gun and took it apart to fix it and then forgot how to put it back together. Thank you for this video explaining how to do that and the other ones you made.
I'm trying to figure out if the bad reviews on this gun are those who are not aware of this
Can u do this with a harbor freight nail gun also
You can take anything apart. The trick is correctly putting it back together.
Thanks man
Life saver my man! Worked stopped when this magazine jammed and the guide that pushes nails came off the spring. Thanks to you in less than 30 min. I'm back to work! Thanks again!!❤😅
I have a question. Is it also used for a rigid charging nailer?
Nope, Hitachi and metabo Hitachi only
Thank you! You just saved me from spending an $80 replacement nail gun.
I'm having an issue with 2 guns, an 83aa and an aa5. Both guns fire every other nail. It seems that when it doesn't shoot a nail, it's because the driver doesn't come back all the way. It sounds different when this happens. On both guns I've replaced all cylinder o rings and driver/o ring, and it helped for an hour then right back to same problem. Please help! Edit: I'll add, if I try to fire them quickly (5 shots per second ish) they both sound like their running out of air, if that makes sense)
Yes. It makes sense. Let me go over some common things it might be. *If compress air tanks are not drained regularly. You could have built up water in them which could be pushed through the hose and into the nailer. Water in the passage ways could starve the nailer of air pressure. *In the same direction. If grease is used as lubrication in the nailer. You could have grease clogging the passage ways. Try cleaning those passage ways with pipe cleaners and use compressed air to blow directly through the passage ways. *Another possible thing. If the driver flops back and forth when the nailer is turned upside down. Take the driver out. Remove the oring and examine the slot the original goes in. Look at it as a cross section. The bottom of the slot should look square. If the bottom of the slot is rounded. It is worn out and the oring is not holding enough air pressure behind the driver to function correctly. *Check and make sure the driver travels through the nose without restrictions. Nose or driver could be bent. * Check the exhaust value in the cap for wear. If it's worn, it could cause abnormal cycling. * Last possibility, Check the ease of travel of fasteners going through the magazine. The clipped head magazines are created to a slightly tighter tolerance. So different manufacturers of fasteners can have different preference. If the magazine is dirty or bent. It could definitely cause stripes of fasteners to travel through the mag harder. I hope any of this helps. They are all just possible causes.
@Allenr1967 thank you so much for the response. I tried calling metabo, but it was a waste of my time. Tanks are drained twice a day, typically. We use kilfrost now in the winter to lube. It's happening to two guns that are fairly old, not to the new ones. You may be on to something with the pipe cleaner. Not sure which passageways exactly but I'll poke around. That definitely sounds like it could be the problem. Our jobs are muddy, icy, wet and overall shitty. The drivers and their o rings are both brand new, fit snugly and travel all the way with firm finger pressure. Magazines are feeding well (when the driver fully retracts). I really appreciate your time... these are the best guns ever made imo and I refuse to trash them!
Darn, i just ordered the valve kit 371208 and it will work with my framer but i wanted to recharge my 18g nailer NT1850de. I seen that you mentioned that this kit will work unoficially with the 18g, am i able to just set my compressor to 51psi and charge it like that?
Yes
How similar is this to the original / japan Nr83aa? I've been rebuilding them for years but the one I have now has me stumped. I've learned some things to try though. Great video!
Nose, trigger, Piston driver and magazine angel is different. Rest is same as original design.
@Allenr1967 thanks! Do you think the adjustable depth nose piece will fit onto an aa5? I don't get why the A5 has adjustment and the AA5 does not.
No, the nose will not work with the AA5 piston driver.
I disassembled mine (out of warranty) and turns out i have 3 pins broken in the pin wheel can these be rebuilt?
Yes, very much so. Just download the parts list from the. Manufacturer website and order the pins.
is the 18g brad nailer the same psi to fill i have just ordered the pressure reducing valve for the 1850 nailer
Ive lost my lockout spring.any ideas how to get the right spring
Download the parts breakdown . Identify the part number from the breakdown and order one. Easy peasy.
Awesome video! I have the NT1865DM(S) finish nailer... ordered the regulator on Amazon and followed these excellently presented instructions. The gun is working great again, and now I'll be able to recharge it quickly whenever needed. Glad you made this video, because I was about to chuck the Metabo and go back to a Paslode.
What’s the part number for the tension spring? Mine fell out.
889089 = Trigger Spring
@@Allenr1967 thanks brother.
How can I fix the trigger spring?
@@MrMiltongi just buy a new spring. Easy fix.
@@MrMiltongi is the spring broken or bent?
Will this method work on the cordless metabo 16 gauge finish nailer?. Gun is new and just clicks hardly shooting nail
If under 30 days from date of purchase. Exchange it
I have spent waaaay too long trying to id this part after the magnet became dislodged so your vid has been an absolute lifesaver with the added bonus of actually showing me how to change it. Many thanks
