There have been many good singing voices in Greece in the last 50-60 years and then there is Maria Farantouri on the unique throne of musical Olympus. With her amazing timbre of classical and opera music, she has interpreted together with Mikis all the immortal poets of freedom and democracy after the Greek Junta. When all the others have been forgotten, Farantouri's voice will continue to resonate as the image of the eternal Greece that we all carry in our hearts.
Would it be possible to add subtitles? I love Greek music/ culture and her work in particular, I started to learn Greek but I am afraid it's not sufficient to understand what's said here and I would love to be able to understand everything!
Wow, just seeing this for the first time. Love the high-quality clips scattered throughout, makes me wish that all these concerts were available in that quality in their entirety! Is it my imagination, but was the video from the 1974 first post-junta concert of better quality and at the corrected speed compared to other sources of that concert? Thanks for sharing this, Pieter!
