    Traveling is embedded into our relationship as we met on a Spring Break cruise in 2016. Since then, we haven't stopped traveling together in the United States and abroad. We left New York in July 2019 to travel the world and we took work with us, including starting a travel vlog. We have made it our mission to slow travel for 16 months throughout South America and Asia and to create travel videos along the way.
    Due to the pandemic, we changed course and bought a van to convert into a campervan (#vanlife) to travel to all 50 National Parks in the lower 48 states (excluding Hawaii and Alaska) before Christmas. We are Brandon and Erin, follow the journey and stay tuned.

    Good video! Better list of pros and cons than I’ve seen loads of other vanlifers make. You should look into mounting your grey tank underneath the van so you can have a larger one that where ours it mounted. And if you put a trap in between your sink drain and grey tank that will stop the odor from coming out of your grey tank into the van! 👍🏻

      That's absolutely what I should do, and add a little electric solenoid valve to empty the grey tank so you don't even have to crawl down there and empty it. That would be amazing... haha thank you!

    yeh the lack of space aspect is what blows my mind that couples with pets are doing this, i just saw a 5 person family like wtf! I'm happy I'm single rn

    The waste water jug overflow seems like a real concern. With that said, why not place a bowl in the sink to catch the water while washing dishes and then just toss it out. Same when you brush your teeth. Place a cup under the faucet when you wet your toothbrush and use that water to rinse your toothbrush and your mouth when you’re done.

      Not a bad idea! Might start doing that. Thanks for the suggestion

      We've actually gotten really luck on the whole during our road trip, there has been very few full rainy days. That being said, there have been plenty of freezing cold days that keep us inside all the same lol. Thank you!

    Thank you for your honest perspective of the good, the bad, and the ugly of van life. I'm totally encouraged about how amazing it has been for you both, and how it has enhanced your life profoundly. The blessings seem to outweigh the inconveniences by a long shot.

      I'd say that's a very fair assessment! With any journey not everything is roses, which is why you have to consider the pros and cons!

    Thanks for the video, trying to decide whether to take the plunge. I have not done vanlife yet but I wonder if you can put an inexpensive water level meter in the gray tank to monitor that so you have piece of mind?

    • @travelingatlas
      @travelingatlas  3 месяца назад

      Yes, if (hopefully when!) I build another van out, I would likely frame it in under the van, and I would have a simple level meter and automated valves so that it's easier to dump etc. The only time this becomes an issue is in really cold weather when it could freeze, but then you would just have to be diligent to empty it out quickly of it's below freezing.

    I would suggest van life us better than buying a permanent house and getting stuck at one location, no flexibility plus house cost us increasing everyday and renovation charges, etc.
    You can buy a van house with just half of the cost of what you would pay for a traditional house. So you save money and travel on wheels.
    Now the other pros and cons about vanlife like lacking social connections or missing houselife and ❤its comfert. So for this you can live on rent guesthouse or apartment once in a while for a change and again continue van life. So it doesn't gett boring.
    I think in India Vanlife is not that difficult considering the above factors. It can easily be sustained.
    Indians go for it guys. Work hard, save money, get some skills to do remote work and buy a caravan instead of house and invest surplus money in some investment to generate regular cashflow.
    With plans everything is possible.
