I've had the GIO GRX80 for almost 13 years dual humbucker. black metallic with a black pick guard and headstock, a dark rosewood fretboard, alder body, maple neck. Cost me $150 with a gig bag, chord, tuner and strings. Still plays and sounds good.
I tried a GRG220PA1 two days ago at a guitar store and I was amazed at how nice it actually felt and sounded. I tried it with a lamp amp and the sound was awesome. Currently saving up for it. These instruments cost way less then they should.
I bought an Ibanez GRG170DX in Jet Black in 2009 online from Gear4music. Still use it regularly. It still plays and sounds great. They are superb instruments at a brilliant price and perform as well as much more expensive instruments.
I have a GSA60 that is now about 20 years old and still plays and feels great. I also have a GRX70 that’s a few years old that I upgraded with DiMarzio picks and just feels fantastic and now sounds even better.
Is it great for playing softer songs like alternative and neo soul/ r&b ? I'm not into rock but this guitar has the nicest design and colour for my price range lol. Its this or probably a squire stratocastor under 180 with a marshall mg15gfx amp and probably might get a pedal names something like goo ge100.(I forgot lol) I like the weeknd after hours songs and sadder slow songs like lilpeep, siloh dynasty, Arctic moneys. Chase Atlantic. Xxx tentacion, tory lanez, etc. Sorry if its hard hard understand what I'm asking
@@sakuxvv yes I also play a lot of softer style of music, and for me this guitar is an all rounder, but being an all rounder means that this guitar have no distinct style of sound character, example like fender kind of tone, so again if you're not into a really specific kind of sound you can go with this one just fine, I'll say it's a balanced guitar
My dad got me a GRX140 back in 07~08 and later on we've got a DiMarzio Super Distortion on the bridge and Evolution on the neck, it sounded amazing. It's still with at my parents as I need to fly it to Canada someday.
I still have my Gio that I purchased in 1998. I switched the bridge pickup to a SD Invader many years ago and that’s it. Obviously, it doesn’t feel as good as a nicer, more expensive guitar but I just recently put on a new set of strings and it is still fun to play as it was when I got it 🤘🏽 I’m never getting rid of it
I've been playing a GRG 140 since 2015 when I first started playing guitar, I payed it 220 euros. It's comfortable, sounds good with a great heavy sounds and has a super affordable price; no need to buy a more expensive guitar if you're just starting out learning guitar. Only thing I need to point out is that 8 years after I bought (so now) it started giving me problems; when I plug the cable the signal buzzez so I think the pick ups or something inside the guitar got broken so I think now it's time to buy a new guitar, but till now it never gave me any problems whatsoever.
I just grabbed a Gio used for $139, great guitar, and I can tell the previous owner probably did some smoothing of the fret ends, it feels and plays beautifully.
Bought a Gio in the "recycling shop" recently. Turned out to be a Spring 2009 special, called Howling To The Moon. The headstock has the tuners at the treble side, very strange, looks like a leftie played by a righthand player. Can anyone explain to me, why Ibanez did that? My plan was using the Ibanez pickups in a Les Paul clone. Changed my mind! That clone has Pacifica and Maya humbuckers, now. So, Gio has its own pickups. I can always replace them, when I'd like to. Oldfashioned humbuckers are sweet, for you can often add a coil split. Maybe it is time making my own pickups, all you need is magnets and huge coil(s). A Gio is a good test platform. And this Gio guitar plays very okay. The finish got scratched and dented quite a bit, I really do not understand the previous owner. Dirty as can be, dents, scratches. So I took coarse sandpaper and rounded some edges. I like Strat bodies. Did not reshape it all, you still see this is a GIO, though the front resembles an arched top, now. And I did a custom paintjob. Not original anymore, however, try restoring a "cracked soil" finish. Summary: yes, GIO is a very good guitar. Remember, cost me 75 euro! And some paint. And I can always buy a deer antler chunk and cut myself an excellent nut. When I'd buy P94's or Fender single coils, or whatever, that is a good idea.
I own a gsa60 same finish and it's just great for the price. Sounds good feels great definitely worth every penny. Picked mine up with a 25w amp and a BOSS-ME25 pedal for 160$. A bargain!
I’ve got the white/red gio without a whammy slot. Double humbucker. It’s a great guitar for beginners, and my friend can do crazy shreds on it. I know it’s not for all, but I would say after you improve to the point of decent improvisation, a handful of chords and riffs/songs, upgrade to either an epiphone or squire. It’s just my opinion, so don’t worry
I HAVE THE Ibanez: GAX70 SINCE 2005 AND I HAVE 5 OTHERS GUITAR INCLUDING A JACKSON PRO FROM THE 90S AND A PRS BELIEVE I LOVE TO PLAY MY GAX70 MORE I LOVE THE NECK I CHANGE THE PICK UP WITH EVO AND IT RIGHT THERE WITH MY EXPENSIVE GUITAR I WILL NEVER DEPART FROM IT
Always really like Ibanez guitars and so I spent my first official paycheck on an all white, 7-string Ibanez with matching amp. I love this guitar and really helps get anger out lol. I would highly suggest if metal is your genre
I've been buying affordable used electric guitars to modify and customize at pawn shops and I've always been into Mexican Fenders. I recently starting picking up used Squiers for $100 or less when I can find them, especially into the offset Fender stuff but I picked up a couple Ibanez Gio guitars this week because I liked the fact they were hardtail super strat style setups with dual humbuckers and I'll be honest and its just my opinion but I swear I think the Ibanez Gio guitars feel like they're higher quality feeling guitars than the Squiers. Obviously they're comparative to the Squiers I've bought price wise but for the $70 and $90 I paid for these Gio guitars I think the quiality and build surpass the Squier guitars I've bought recently.
My GRG121SP is the best Ibanez I've owned. The Roasted maple neck with Fender C profile. So much better than a Wizard neck. The Classic Elite pickups are amazing for metal.
Of the 100 or so electrics I've owned absolutely NONE of them stayed in tune as well as the GIO I owned. It was built like a tank; one of the most solid guitars at any price I've ever owned. If the neck had been as comfortable as my Yamaha I would still own it now. As it is I'm considering getting another one even though I'm cutting back.
Can you tell me the width of the neck the reason why is i need a smaller neck because my fingers are a bit shorter. Im in the process of finding the right guitar for me but none tells about the width of the becks. Please i would appreciate it
I sanded my GRGR09LTD, for the finish was no good (thanks to the previous owner). And I am always curious to the wood. I prefer to see wood. Yes, I am old. I want a finish to be as thin as possible. Resonance, you know. A thick finish shortens the sustain. It dampens the vibrations of the body. It has an effect. Still, extremely hard finishes sound.... brighter! Be careful when you start believing people saying something about guitars. Always listen yourself, play yourself, do not buy dull sounding guitars (or an out of intonation guitar) unless you need such a guitar for a certain gig. Always listen yourself, only listen to people who tell you things, you can check yourself. Do not accept bla bla theories. Back to my GRGR09LTD, it is bass wood. West American swamp ash, my dictionary said. Light colored, soft wood. So I left the primer paint and added some funny finish. Nice guitar. The way they built that body and ALL components is making that tone. But do not forget to do the setup well. Buy the strings you like best. Brand, tension, you do hear a difference. Action is important. Pickup height and angle are important. Most of all, buy a good amp, and dial it at a sweet spot. Take time for all that. Sometimes you get lucky, you plug it in and everything sounds great.
it's the amp, expensive or decent amp can get you that sound. check out katana amps, yamaha thr, catalyst amps, 500-600$ tube amps(have to buy Overdrive & Distortion pedals tho). or any amp sims, like neural dsp, etc.
I have this guitar and i know it was cheap and I think it sounds great. I had to look up videos to see what was wrong with me. Turns out I'm not crazy.
Good guitars, typical Ibanez :) I have a two - a ltd etd GRG called the 'heartsnatcher' from 2010 w/ Reverse Headstock and the black RG7 - though tbf the pickups on the 7 string ARE crap and sound dull.
It is funny that almost every guitar demo on youtube is literally showcase the sound of the guitar with heavy distortion. With that level of distortion a toy guitar might also sound similar to a premium guitar. I wish they show case clean signals without any effect when they review guitars
I used to own an older model of the AX120 that was better than the newer models I should've never sold it because I was going to put EMG hetset pickups in it
@@Highrollinhunter I sold the AX120 a few months ago. I got less than 1/2 than whati paid for it. I seen older guitars with Floyd Roses for the same price of this guitar new price.

Maybe the strings are too low when you press down see if it is rubbing of the other frets maybe you're bridge saddle needs adjusted its realy easy to fix take It to a guitar shop or ask somebody with experience to help
Come on dude. If you just oversell a product, it doesn’t make you sound serious. The necks on these guitars cheap Ibanez guitars have bad fret edges. Also, you are playing through an expensive amp which makes half of the sound of a guitar. You simply sound like an untrustable sales man, sorry!
I understand what you’re saying, and I think it’d be good for G4M to do comparisons to pricier guitars to see what you actually get for (more of) your money. However, the broader point is that, despite Gios being super affordable, they play well and can take you very far. And I agree with you, another broader point is definitely that your tone comes from your amp for sure, so that’s where you’ll reap the rewards for investing your money! I don’t work for G4M anymore but at the end of the day they are a musical instrument e-commerce company, and they’re trying to sell things. I’d personally like to have mentioned any drawbacks (not that there are any major ones imo), but at the end of the day this was just a nice day out of the office for me where I got to play some cool guitars 🤣 I did write the script, but ultimately had no control over the direction of the video, and the script had to be approved by a different team. Ultimately, what I’m trying to say is, don’t hate the player, hate the game 😝 But also, I agree with you. I am, however, no salesman, I’m just a guitarist who got the opportunity to do this 🙂
any guitar will last forever if it isnt made up of balsa wood. its how you take care of your axe and keep it shiney and sharp. enough said of durability of guitars. thats such a lame sales pitch as if someone is going to smash it on the ground like a rockstar for no reason to test how long it will last.
Actually that's a better test than if played through an inexpensive amp. If the guitar is going to show its weakness vs high end guitars it will show them on a high-end amp. The goal is to demonstrate the quality of sound from the guitar and an entry amp isn't going to do that.

All guitars work great when 1 day old
Isnt that in reverse? They suck until they are properly set up...... then they get better with age
