Hi there! It's great to see fellow outdoor enthusiasts like yourself discussing group trips and outdoor gear. In terms of maximizing your outdoor experience, I highly recommend considering the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. Its massive capacity, powerful output, and waterproof technology make it a reliable choice for outdoor adventures. Stay powered up and make the most of your camping trips with this versatile power station. Happy camping! 🏕️
Great video as always. So enjoy following you on your wonderful adventures. We live in a parked RV during the summer months and have to thank you for your tip For condensation issues. We purchased the Dri-Z-Air for our RV and it works GREAT at keeping the window condensation down. Keep up the excellent videos..so look forward to them.
A converted Sprinter for $30 or $40K??? Try $130 - $140K. RVs are made with cheap, toxic materials, that don't last. RVs come how they come, layout wise. There's very little customization you can do. With a van conversion you can design the layout to suit your needs. Just my little plug for van life. 😊
RV's especially trailers like other vehicles can be made of cheap materials and are often not made for daily / weekly over the road activities they are generally made to be parked or taken on vacation once a year for a week or so. However in the past couple decades a lot of companies are building very good quality RV's and trailers. I don't believe in the past 2 decades there has been Toxic materials used in the RV industry they are inspected checked and certified prior to being sold to the public, not many companies are looking to be sued for using Toxic materials. As far as Customization that is all about how much $$$$ you want to spend, it can cost tens of thousands to pay someone to build your custom designed van then hopefully you get what you want. But you can also buy something that is 10 years old cheaper and customize it yourself much cheaper and there are a ton of videos how toos and books if you are handy . It all comes down to what you want and how much money you are willing to spend.
Sorry have to disagree with teh "blanket" statement "they don't last". I've got a 20 year old full sized Class C RV. Sure he's looking a bit "worn in" on the outside, but his house systems are solid. He's totally manual, as far as power switching, propane to shore power systems, etc. I've already done several "customizations" including adding improved battery systems, a solar array, security cameras and lighting, power inverter, remodeled the interior to not look so "dated",, etc. I can take my rig out, with just my wife and I, and get about 5 days of power (before using the solar array for recharging or onboard generator), can run for about 7 days on our freshwater (before deploying my water pump into a nearby water source, (if available, a month on our propane tank. So far, I've got about 40K into the rig. So while I respect van builders and think they are some of the most innovated folks out there in the nomadic lifestyle world, saying RV are made from toxic materials, and cheaply build, is just a generalization, and one more specific to covid and post-covid builds. When van folks and schoolie folks start running twenty-year old rigs, with 80k miles on their engines and chassis, then they can start talking about "RVs being made cheap. Like everything out there, some ARE made cheap, but not ALL are made cheap.
Thanks this is super helpful. You guys seem easy going enough, and I’m sure the process of getting used to RV life takes time. You’re doing great ! I would love to do a meet up, but we are a bit older than you, so it might be weird. I just really resonate with you and I love watching your channel. Stay strong and healthy. 😊
An rv is a home that moves, a sprinter van is more a vehicle you have to live in and make it work, I have a dodge grand caravan I could live in or my civic if I have to (I had to once) but with no pets, if you have a dog, you need an rv
Converted a VW Crafter purchased for 50K AUD fitted out over 12 months for $45K used a lot of ikea flat pack, has a tow bar pull a custom inclosed trailer with BBQ and food prep section but when folded away can store two BMW 310 GS motorcycles, the van has business logos and relevant parking rights so we can use loading zones, I do counselling and life coaching, ride for therapy and cook basic food as part of workshops. We use Anytime fitness as a place to shower and gym we don’t have a bathroom or shower in the VW, this saved us a lot of money. A lot of the places we go to is paid work and part of that allows us to say on grounds rent free most of the time, we also prefer to stay on hobby farms in a vacant paddock for $20 AUD we went with a VW utility van because we are able to adjust and essentially evolve an RV is set and not easy to mod or renovate, to clarify we upgraded the towbar a few times to increase the weight and the breaks, we have an office area, and we have some interchangeable internals we can switch out.
Loved this video from you both! I spent 6 months living in a Kombi van on the Atlantic Coast of France, touring through Portugal and Spain and loved every moment. Not many RV campers back in them days (early 1990’s) and would welcome to opportunity of doing the same rout in and larger RV! Travel safe and keep up the great work 👏❤️👏❤️
Love the space of your rig esp w bear but ideally a class B 19 footer could get down the logging roads to the best forestry dept camp sites plus bushwack boondocking. Can have all the modcons despite 19', my fav model would be a Canadian made Pleasureway (but spendy af).
Just bumbled onto your channel, and it's a thumbs up for me. I watch several people on the road. I travelled and lived full time in a 1984 Toyota Dolphin for 3 1/2 years. Loved it. I stayed primarily in campgrounds (had a Thousand Trails membership so camping cost next to nothing). I do enjoy watching all the backcountry, off-roading vans do, which my Dolphin would neveer have been able to do. But I probably wouldn't have done that, anyway, on my own pre internet. Anyway, you presented valuable information, and you're both good presenters, very pleasant to listen to, without a lot of background music. Good luck to you both. Subscribed.
RV you need to run a noisy generator if you are without main power with the Van many now have Lithium that can run the AC/Heat all night without making noise.
Good morning, I've been chasing your video's to get caught up on where and what you're doing. Your Class C has it's con's, the long overhang can be a problem, so when you decide on another RV look at the wheel base to overhang, also where the dump valves are located, you want to find one that has it's dump valves ahead of the rear wheels, much less chance of damage from dragging when the tail is lower than the front going into or out of gas stations, stores and such. The last thing you'll ever want to do is break off that dump valve on the tail of your RV It looks like yours is a 26ft or 28ft, you might consider a 24ft but look for the older ones that don't have the bed in the back corner, those beds can be a real bother when getting into or out of. My Class C is a very rare one, it's only 20ft but it has the room I want, When looking for a an RV figure 20ft for the amenities, kitchen, bathroom w/shower and storage, then add 4ft for each extra person other wise you'll be in each others way all the time. Older RV's are built better than the new ones made after the year 2000, stay away from the Ford V10 engine, look for the Chevy 454 or the Ford 460 V8 engine. I'll be around so ask before you leap!! I tried to link a couple of examples of RV's located near me for sale but YT won't let me post links to CL ad's, the examples were of what to look for when purchasing used RV's,,,,,, Oh well,,,,,,,
I think you have to sit down and determine what type of living / camping you want to do the majority of the time. If you want to be off the beaten trail boondocking and experiencing mountain views and rivers running thru your back yard then you may want to look at an overland vehicle and an off-road type trailer. If you want to see cities and towns and live at campgrounds then possibly an RV with a towed car or trailer with motorbikes/e-bikes to explore on. Honestly I see van life being more for single people as there is not a lot of room for two grown adults and pets nor is there many with functioning washrooms so for me anyways this becomes the limiting factor but then I'm not in my 20's anymore.
I feel like I'd be looking for a smaller size RV, mainly just wider than a sprinter van. Then I'd hope that most of the interior is poor, so that the price is low, and I can just tear it all out and renovate it myself (usually the layouts are just made for families going on a road trip). I have certain goals with my layout, and the defaults are not it.
Toronto boy, been following you guys intermittently. Congrats on the wedding. I'll be in Mazatlan by October. If your epic road trip takes you that far south, first round's on me. Otherwise, I do get out to Vancouver two or three times a year, maybe catch ya there.
Living in an RV is better than living in a van 🚐 and not just any RVs but RVs that you can actually drive yourself instead of the ones that you have to haul behind a pickup truck 🛻 also vans 🚐 aren’t meant to be lived in.
Loved this one. Wish I was younger. Bear looks like he is a little over weight at the moment . He should be around 33kg. I know it's hard in a van , but he probably needs more raw food in his diet. Our two eat all raw meat, mince, chicken wings, drumsticks, wallaby...ha ha no wallabies where you are, and heaps of vegetables, I.e. carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato, potato , silverbeet, apples, yoghurt etc. Anything that can be purchased cheap. Raw if grated. Even if you mix it with what ever he is eating now. By the way, How old is he. I love him to bits. Love xx

Class C, they check all the boxes, just get the floor plan and length you feel you need, they come 21 ft and up

If on a Friday afternoon I want to go on a road trip the van is the way to go IMO

Maybe we'll cross paths before then!

They do make RV’s like coachman 20 xg and Winnebago Ekko that are more designed for off road driving
I’m in Montana now traveling around Missoula area this weekend. I’m in a Storyteller Van. Hopefully run into you guys and have a beer.

Great content as usual . Question ....... how does camping in the US compare to other places you have traveled ?.
Planning a month long van/rv experience for my partner’s birthday. Thanks for helping me choose.
