I lived in Metz France as a teenager for five years right inside the Fort Bellecroix bunker and tunnel complex of the Maginot line.....we teens explored a great deal of it.....and found hundreds of tons of abandoned German munitions and weapons.....literally still in their original crates......it was dumped there inside those tunnels and bunkers by retreating German forces.....they also got rid of their personal Nazi identity documents and uniforms, helmets, webbing etc.....boxes and boxes of their “potatoe masher” wooden handled grenades....some of which we activated and dropped down shafts....the explosions were considered “cool” but still dangerous....we gathered up Nazi belt buckles, Nazi badges, hats with the eagle and swastika, binocular cases, ammunition pouches and Lugers....machine pistols and ammo clips and Nazi flags and pennants etc....a lot of their radio equipment was found smashed....a real treasure trove of loot.....then down to sell the stuff at the flea market or to friends.....,!

I agree the Germans could’ve held out for a lot longer I’ve seen many videos like this and if you watch carefully the civilians are checking little pieces of paper to see if there’s any money or other valuables they can scrounge up at least that’s what I would be doing if they only knew what that stuff was worth today I’m sure they wouldn’t of discarded it so easily

This is enough hardware to have kept up the defense for much longer.

Just an old ruff k98 will bring $1000.00 , even a Russian capture 98 will bring $600.00 or more at a gun show .
