Flat out amazing what Iceland has done with the walls and saving the blue lagoon and the power plant. I hope for the best for Iceland and these eruptions stop. Great video Roman!

When they started building the wall in 2021, and it became effective. I was very surprised.
Then I begin wondering how come Hawaii can't do this very same thing ? 🌋❓️

Iceland’s engineers and equipment operators amazingly brave warriors, so determined to save important capitol assets in the face of a monster enemy.

I hope you are right about February, given the current wild weather. The graph you showed of the various uplifts was very interesting.

Thanks Roman for your update, yes I have been watching the earthquakes and the GPS data quite closely, I did notice past couple of days there has been earthquake swarms but not at the sundhnukur crater but a bit to the north east, but today 31st jan it's gone quiet with only 5 earthquakes in the whole of Iceland which rings alarm bells to me.
Going by the GPS data I would say another week maybe 2 at a push befor the next eruption.

Is another eruption expected on the Reykjanes Peninsula soon?!

It is just mathematical probability that one of these eruptions will happen inside the wall...and potentially destroys the power plant.

The most important infrastructure is not the Blue Lagoon; it's the power station. When the power station is disrupted, the Lagoon will stop receiving hot water.

I think so. The last 10 eruptions didnt effect airport or Reykjavik anyway. Only Grindavik, Blue Lagoon area is usually effected.

@IcelandExplorer - I wonder if the area under Svartsangi being filled by lava is gradually increasing in area, so the rate of uplift would decrease even if the inflow remains constant ?

Hard to say, but its a trnasition sill (chamber), the oroginal chamber is further east under Fagradalsfjall at 8 km and that one is 11 km wide
