    I just bought the Touring V6, and I actually like the center console. As for the non-splitting rear seats, well, you don't have to bring the whole family with you when you're shopping for a carpet or a Christmas tree. Overall, the car is a marvel. Mph or Mpg? both; can go 0-60mph in 5.6 sec, can do 35 mpg on highway. Drinks regular gas, too. Plus actual LED headlights (not just daytime lights), radar-assisted CC, active noise suppression, three cameras, engine start pushbutton... Love this car.

    The Accord has always been a good car, the center stack shouldn't be the reason why you don't buy one. There's a car out there for everybody, if it's not this one it'll be something else. But find out for yourself, don't just be taking critics word for it.

    i have a 2014 touring and i have to say the engine is amazing. Its definitely under rated at 278hp. I think its more like 300hp. I did a 25 mile highway run last weekend and i got 36mpg! Also the LED headlights are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. You can see sidewalk to sidewall while driving down a street. (they look real cool too)

    90% of our driving is in the city anyway. For people new to Honda 4 cyl with automatic transmissions, learn to select a lower gear when necessary -relax and let the engine rev. Honda used to race a 125cc twin motorcycle (1960's) that revved to 22,500 rpm! Long stretches at 4-5000 rpm to maintain highway speeds up long grades/ hills cause no problems for 4 cyl Hondas. Just make sure to change your oil on time, and have a bit of fun. 91 Accord 480,000K- 97 CRV driven same way 317,000K. I like a..

    the center stack is very logical imo and is not even too cluttered, but your guys' opinion is different. Everything seems to be laid out where similar function buttons are next to each other.

  • @capmarvelous

    I like the layered stacks in the center console, you should not be deducting points for something like that. What should matter are the engine, ride quality, noise, comfort and materials. Design elements are up to the individual buyer.

    Try going into any metro area freeway with metered lights on a short on-ramp to a freeway that also serves as major interstate trucking route. 0-70 becomes a very important factor if you don't want to get mowed down by a semi truck in the right lane.

    Compared to the V6-EXl, the V6 Touring in addition has: ACC, LED headlights, Standard Navigation, Song by Voice, and an improved display on the guage cluster.

    I have this V6 Accord since Oct of Last year I have For the Record coming across the US 40 MPG that RIGHT!! ! I Stayed at 73 and the VCM Kick in! And I was blown away! I had a TSX 2010 V6 and I the Highest I ever got was 36 MPG Across the Country. This V6 is so much better than the 4 CVT. And if your thinking wanting to say on MPG and getting the 4 Cyl. I say Spend the extra 1200 and get the V6 and it is worth it. Having that Extra Power on tap is also Great!

  • @sherwoodfiftythirtybc4433
    @sherwoodfiftythirtybc4433 11 лет назад

    Guys- 4 many years, one of Honda's 'pro' arguments for the 4 cyl Accords is that they handled better...4 cylinder engine is lighter than a V6 so steering is more responsive. I feel this is still relevant. Clearly, long highway trips w/ hills & crosswinds most want the momentum of the V-6, but in that situation I just shift our inline 4's (Accord-91 & CRV-97) down into D3, and let 'em rev until it's ok for D4 again....drop in MPG isn't drastic. James is correct. The 4 cylinder Accords have direct injection but the V-6 models have multi-point. Go to Honda's website and look on the "specifications" page and it verifies what James stated.

    My 2014 Accord EX-L V6 does not have navigation, therefor doesn't have the "four levels of control" that Alex and Dave dislike. It's a wonderful car and quite an upgrade from my 2004 EX-L (4cyl). Power from the V6 is incredible. Fit and finish are worlds ahead of my car, and even the 2011 EX-L I drove for a week while waiting on my new car to arrive. I highly recommend.

    I rate it a 9. I'm happy w/ the center stack. I'd like to see an accessory charger in the back seat area. Great Car! If they can sell on par w/ Mazda 6 I'd buy it over the Mazda 6.

  • @sherwoodfiftythirtybc4433
    @sherwoodfiftythirtybc4433 11 лет назад

    ...lower gear selection in the city too as it curbs lapses in concentration for photo radar traps, corners w/ more control, and engine braking is better down hills...and for stopping for pedestrians. Experiment a bit and a 4 cylinder Honda w/ automatic transmission can still be very satisfying.

    Hands down the best midsize car right, so classy and sharp looking, the engine is great, the fuel economy astouding, and the interior looks and feels as premium as an Infiniti or Acura (even better than the Acura because is not so crowded with buttons).
    Definitely a car I would consider buying in the future.

    Thanks for reviewing this vehicle. I've been waiting for you to review the Accord Touring. I'm currently in the market to replace my '10 Acura TSX V6 and am very interested in the Accord Touring. The performance stats on this car are incredibly impressive. Several sources cite a 5.6 second 0-60 time. And 34 mpg highway to boot on regular fuel? I am very impressed indeed. Thanks again guys for the review and keep up the good work. I watch almost all of your videos and enjoy them.

    A little info for everyone about this car deciding between a 4 cyl or a v6. The 4 cyl engine has a timing chain wich should last for 250k miles+, but the v6 has a timing belt that has to be replaced in 110k miles and the cost for this is almost $1000. if you plan on keeping the car for as long as you can or if you drive a lot, i think the 4 cyl is the better choice. just my 2 cents guys

  • @NavyKings2007

    You're forgetting that this car is a bit faster yet is more fuel efficient than an Avalon, with about the same interior room, and is loaded with every option you can think of. The Avalon, while a nice car in its own right, is the option-less base model for around $33K. One could argue that the level of refinement in this redesign of the Accord brings it even closer in refinement, technology, and comfort to the TL, no slouch in it's own right and a worthy competitor to your Lexus example(ES350).

    Don't get me wrong, Dave . . . the review was good. You guys usually pick up stuff like that when you are talking about storage capacity. This particular feature is a big thing for me, but for others, they may never think about it. It is all relative. Keep up the great work!

    I still like the look of the Sport model better. You guys are right that center stack has too many screens and is too busy looking on the Touring model. I really like the Sport model but wish the sport came with heated seats and a sunroof. For 25 grand the Sport really is the best value in the line up. You get pretty much everything you need.

    kudos for changing your ratings to 1-10. JMHO, The 72 month rating was far too ambiguous. I'd still like to see some type of standardized way to show how much/little space is in the trunk.ie so many grocery bags, so many golf bags, so many dogs...Maybe based on car type, target buyer, use...
    You're doing a great job.

    I have a '12 Civic EX-L. I too would like to see how the new Civic compares. I love my Civic, but make sure you get in and out of it a few times to see if access is an issue, especially when parked next to a car, where you can't open the door fully. My only gripe with the Civic.

    I agree most of what you said, having said that,....I like the center stack....How can you complain about a dedicated navi-screen? I also have G37x it has a Navi screen that is shared with the HVAC and Audio and frankly everything else....trust me the Accord is a better set-up. My wife drives a '12 RX 350 the Honda center stack is superior. Like I said, I have a '12 G37x, this accord does not give up much in the performance area. Infiniti is tighter, more power, sounds great but, is only a 1/2 or so second slower to 60.....and is $12,000 more on the window sticker. But the Honda is a little quieter. In all honesty, the Honda V6 is very competent and poised throughout the entire rev range... Now about the $9,000 over the sport edition....where is there a car, in a manufacturer's line-up that has 90 HP more that is less? the IS 250 vs 350, the G37 vs G25, the c300 vs C400, the 328 vs 335 I don't know about the Camry pricing...But, the $9,000 up charge for 90 HP seems to be about right to reasonable, and I believe there are more items than the v6, I may be wrong---the sunroof, navi. 6 speed transmission, heated seats The difference is so noticeable when driving the v6.....Not a bad review ....the center stack is an opinion item. you way over played. My "15 Accord had a window of $33,090 they knocked of $5,700. for the year, they tossed in a few things----I'm out the door for about $27,000-for that money a great car....Black over ivory leather....Beautiful....and it runs on 87.

    Navy -- As I look at a side-by-side comparison at the $33K price point for a "touring sedan", I think the Avalon has a nicer interior and ride comfort. And $33K will get you the Avalon XLE Premium, not the base, so the equipment is comparable. Motor Trend tested the Avalon against the Azera and Maxima, and it came out on top.They show a 0-60 time of 6.2 and a skid pad of 0.82g (though I think the Accord has a 0.86g rating). But I would like to see Alex and Dave do a head-to-head comparison. :)

  • @oldtwins
    @oldtwins 11 лет назад

    Well, at least the seat folds? The Camry V6 models do not fold at all ! Neither does the ES350 or the Avalon. I'm actually thrilled to see the EX-L V6 be able to fold, even though it's just single folding, it makes a tremendous difference if this is your only car.

    Guys, I also enjoyed this video and I DO agree with you about the interior four parts on the mid-console. But with that said, I still have plans to buy a 2013 Accord EX-L 4-cylinder by the end of the year. I like the silver color but not the gray leather interior that much but I can live with that compared to a black interior. Yes, Honda should re-design the center console technology AND have the back seat fold down in TWO parts like so many other cars. Not sure why they cannot do that.

  • @hikoukla
    @hikoukla 10 лет назад

    I have no problem with the "center stack". After having a BMW X5 (which I LOVED) I had to get a less expensive car this time around and the Accord V6 gives me all the power I had before and it looks really good on the inside! you should invite me to be a guest reviewer sometime.... ;-)

  • @TheOtherMan11
    @TheOtherMan11 11 лет назад

    The one and only thing I dislike about the new Accord is that the rear bench seats are always 100% fold down. I still need to confirm this whenever I can get my hands on one, but if they really are just 100% fold down rear seats with no 60/40 split, well that could be annoying:
    Imagine you just bought a new rug for your home. It's too long to fit appropriately in the trunk but you cant let the rear seats down because you have two other passengers. Now you have to unroll the carpet and fold it.

    Excellent review, guys! Honda is showing some signs of life with the new Accord. I'm thinking of buying the Accord coupe w/ the 6sp. Manual. It reminds me of the Prelude of old. I still don't know why they killed off that car. **puzzled**

  • @TerranceHorton
    @TerranceHorton 11 лет назад

    Dave & Alex -- At $33K, you're into Toyota Avalon territory. The Accord at this price point seems to be a relatively plain car dressing up, whereas the Avalon is like a Lexus only slightly dressed down. The specs on these two cars are very similar in terms of size, hp, etc., though I'm sure the Avalon, though redesigned to be more sporty, has the softer ride. Will you guys compare the Accord Touring and the Avalon at some point?

    I love my sport! Only thing I would wish for is a sun roof!! :/ The power is plenty enough for me and I don't need navigation where I live. Lane watch is pretty nice feature but I am used to being careful checking on my sides so it's no biggy. The accord is a great car!

    Jeffrey in response to your tranny going out, I can see why. I took delivery of a 2014 Accord Touring and the transmission does shift a lot in city driving. It also doesn't have the feature to keep it from going into overdrive. The gas mileage is awesome even with 220 miles on it. Also, a note to all you guys demoing these cars on RUclips, grasp the concept of push button start. Push button start is designed for you to push the button for a nano-second and let the vehicle do the rest. Do not push and hold. I've owned many push button and tip start vehicles.

I think auto makers would do better to keep the cost down and leave the tech stuff to Apple, et al.

The Avalon, Toyota Camery V6, and Lexuses350 have the same Engine 268 HP 10 HP less than this accord also the tech in those cars are still behind the accord. The only thing that I see wrong with this top of the line honda is that it does not have spilt folding rear seats and does not have paddle shifters for the sport mode.

    Very safe car! Too safety pick +!
    However the Accord V6 is slightly in the news for its excessive oil consumption. Actually a class action lawsuit against HMC. Go with the 4 cyl because it is a more durable engine. Cyl deactivation is the problem with the 6 cyl. Just google it if ya don't believe me :)
