I have a '65 Ranchero with a '93 Cobra 5.0, AOD, and an 8" with a 3.55 trac-loc. For what he wants to do, the 8" is more than enough and the 8.8 is overkill.
***** One of our team leaders left to do management there so it's gotta be better than doing inventory lmao. I'm also betting that it's better than 90% of other retail jobs.
+alexlam24 I work for another company and I'm guessing it'll be pretty much the same experience. It's a lot of fun, most customers will be really great, but you'll deal with people sometimes on really bad days so they'll be really pissed off a lot. From what I heard their pay is good though and if they're anything like my company you should get a sizable discount on parts and whatnot!
As a long-time fan of you guys, watching this video and seeing how far this channel has come is really just so great. Best of luck with the Vagabond Falcon, and everything.
The 60-63 Falcon is the narrowest rear end Ford made at 56" . Even the Pinto is 57.5" wide.Your best bet is a Maverick 8" which is 56.5" from drum-to-drum. Slightly wider but still enough to get the tires under the fenders. They're also cheap, have an infinite range of gear ratios and traction devices available, and are fine for the power of a warmed up 302. Besides, the diff cover on a Salisbury/Dana type rear end looks out of place on a Ford in my opinion. The 8" and 9" have that distinctively "Ford" look to them being Hotchkiss type.
+RegularCars If you're up for a trip to Georgia, I know a guy with a 63 Falcon 8" rear end for sale, and at a good price too. I found the Maverick rear end I used on my car by trolling a Maverick/Comet forum and finding a guy parting out a car. The good thing about the 8" and 9" is the carrier comes out. So even though the Maverick rear end will have an open diff and a crappy gear ratio, you can easily swap out the chunk for one that's more copacetic with your program.
A moment for the Range Rover Classic in the back at 0:21! I didn't expect to see one of those in America, let alone in such good shape. Do you know much about it Mr. Regular?
pre 301+ club. Oh yeah. About the axle, I would think you could use that Mustang 8.8 but just use modern positive offset wheels like an 05-up Mustang to cancel out the additional axle width. The wheel/tire may tuck under the fender nicely and it would give a pro-touring look to the falcon.
Someone may have already mentioned this but the early ford ranger 8.8 is 56 1/2" wide. Alternatively you can shorten the long side of an explorer unit using two short side axles and cutting the tube down. The explorer would end up right around 56" when shortened.
Looks and sounds like garages in the part of Britain that I live in, I am not saying what country in Britain that I live in or the region state county and town but however from my area us who grew up around these parts along with our parents and grand parents do tend to sound more closer to a Pennsylvania Ohio Tennessee accent compared with the British accents in the Movies and on the TV shows.
As far as modifying the 8.8 inch rear end i wouldn't do that myself, i would definitely go for the 9 inch rear end, or like some others have said the 8 inch rear end from a stang. I feel modifying the length of the rear end is just going to be a problem in the long run.
In the Falcon V8 conversion world, the Maverick 8" five lug is the swap of choice, at 56.5" total width - or 1/4" more per side so wheel and tire fitment is no problem, and it's a bolt-in. But if Bruce likes 8.8s, then go with the mid-late '90s Explorer disc brake 8.8. It has a long and a short side axle. Get another short side axle, put it in the long side, and cut/weld the tube to match - presto, a 56" 8.8 rear end, and many have 3.55 gears which work well with an AOD.
During the lift, I definitely thought you were going to say "If this was Roadkill, the car would have fallen off the lift and broken 72 separate parts"
This is so cool, I just got a 1965 amc marlin and have my first project as of a month ago. Advance Auto parts has been my go to place after experiencing lazy employees that are usually clueless everywhere else.
Watch a bit of hot rod garage on motortrends channel mr regular . They do a lot of suspension swaps and upgrades to muscle cars and it's an educational show , not fake or anything
I think the Chevy Astro was built that same way. It had part of a truck frame in the front and part of a truck frame in the back, with only the unibody holding the two together. Having minimal crumple zones, strong frames at either end, and a unibody in the middle caused it to buckle and drive the rear seats into the ceiling in front-end collisions. It sounds like your Falcon is going to get some frame reinforcements. That should make it a little safer.
Though it's not being built for this purpose, I do hope that there's some smokey sideways action. I'm not talking about the kind that happens in a dirty doublewide trailer at 2 am.
So happy the channel is going well for you, to the point where you can now do a RCR Project Car, I hope this is the first of a few and best of luck with OVF
In any future episodes I would suggest that you turn the background music down. Some jackass could come along and copyright strike your videos, and I want to see this series to the end!
From what he was saying about "all this comes off" and "box it here and it goes all the way across" it seems like you're going to go Mustang II on the front, no?
not all of those bushings were completely destroyed. the original suspension doesnt have to be thrown away either. is it going to be automatic? if so dont just throw your original axle away, it sounds like you are a pretty light footed driver, the rear axle if set up properly may be just fine.
I personally would just find a guy to shorten that Mustang rear .... a Ford 9 inch is nice but it's overkill for that car and tough to find because everybody wants them for their high horsepower race cars
to add, if you find someone to shorten it, keep the drums as well if possible , not great for performance but it will make the installation better and you'll be able to keep your wheels
+Kyle Morgese the 8.8 they bought has disc brakes on the rear. its also a 5 on 4.5 inch bolt pattern for the rims. the rims that were originally on that car the red ones, they're 4 on 4.5
+Kyle Morgese move ing those 4 on 4.5 drums onto that modern 8.8 rear end probably wont be that simple. it'd probably be easier to find a 5 on 4.5 wheel that can huse those hubcaps and just powdercoat it red like the originals
4:55 pretty sure hes talking about a mustang 2 set up. i would really recommend that set up for this car. rack and pinion steering. all new bushings a stiffer front end because of the beefy cross member. can come with springs to handle the v8 better as well. also have the option to go with tubular control arms and a nice sway bar and make it handle alot better for not alot more money then just the normal mustang 2 set up.
I like MCM but since they live upside down they upload at a time which makes it so I get them in the morning, and that show is not made for the morning.
Mr Regular, asking the internet for 9 inches...
All of you guys here on RUclips are just awesome people. With that said, the bit about MightyCarMods was spot on.
Today were going to show you how start your car. Don't forget to jack up your car first!
Oh look Marty, it's Cheryl!
+Leroy Butts How to install tint, step 1: Jack up your car and put it on jack stands.
Try to find a nice used 9" out of a 70's Ranchero. My 76' had exactly a 56" axle, 5 lug, drum, 3.00 gears. Bulletproof rear end.
+AimlessMoto 56" backing plate to backing plate, but not axle flange to flange.
+Maindrian Pace does it really matter? for what he needs it to do the 8.8 is more than enough.
I have a '65 Ranchero with a '93 Cobra 5.0, AOD, and an 8" with a 3.55 trac-loc. For what he wants to do, the 8" is more than enough and the 8.8 is overkill.
Advanced Auto Parts is a great company. The place I work for does their inventories and it's always a fun experience.
How is it as retail? Might work there over the summer when I get out of college for Summer break.
***** One of our team leaders left to do management there so it's gotta be better than doing inventory lmao. I'm also betting that it's better than 90% of other retail jobs.

+Locutus I tend to go there, or Carquest. The guys and gal that work at Advance Auto Parts near me, seem like really good people, and real friendly.
+SilentDrifter carquest is now owned by AAP. different name, same inventory.
As a long-time fan of you guys, watching this video and seeing how far this channel has come is really just so great.
Best of luck with the Vagabond Falcon, and everything.
I love this series on the Falcon. What's the first car show you'll go to in Pa? Cause I'm excited to see that car in person. :)
Ford Nationals, June 3rd
+RegularCars Are you going to hit the pypes show again next year?
+MrKilroy5 I want to
+RegularCars nice, I'll mark that on the calendar for next year. Thanks
I like this new series.
Nice looking shop!
+Amesie's Automotive Corner your moms nice looking tbh
Saaaaaabsss
Bruce's shop is amazing
+RegularCars I can tell by the pixels
zum 1990 called they want their mom joke back
It's coming... Modified car reviews
More like a director's commentary than a slideshow. but yes
If it was Roadkill the hood will already be off.
ever since the first video, I have seen at least 3 vagabond falcons. Maybe you have started something?
RCR will renew America's interest in the falcon. Australia always loved Falcons but we gave up on them in 1970
lol that low blow on mighty car mods, love you both
I wince a little every time he says "Advance*d* Auto Parts", especially knowing they're a sponsor.
Hate to be the grammar Nazi here, but its ADVANCE Auto Part...not Advanced! I figure you at least want to say/spell your sponsor's name correctly...

A 8" rearend from a Mustang II or Maverick will fit right in, that's what I've got in my 62.
Where do you get those besides the obvious cars I could never find those things in junkyards
+RegularCars Buy a parts car of ebay or craigslist and just take the rearend.
+Datttsnake A parts car Mustang 2 is going to be like 400 thats cheaper than finding a Diff.
+RegularCars If you're up for a trip to Georgia, I know a guy with a 63 Falcon 8" rear end for sale, and at a good price too.

why you have that
One time I fell asleep in someones driveway. When I woke up I went home and slept in my own bed.
One of my favorite cars the 1960 Ford Falcon
Please don't let the battery acid based Pennsylvania salt get to this classic!
Sick Draft Kings reference, bro!
Good job with the Advanced Autoparts sponsorship! :) Happy to see you gettin' recognition!
Good luck on the Falcon Mr. Regular
the '60 Falcon is one of THE best looking cars in the world. It has aged so well unlike the ridiculous Impalas and Cadillacs of the same period.
it has no style
Nice!! Congrats on the sponsor!
A moment for the Range Rover Classic in the back at 0:21! I didn't expect to see one of those in America, let alone in such good shape. Do you know much about it Mr. Regular?
+m1cr0man they're pretty comoon in america, california at least
My god that diff is tiny! Hey what kind of audio set up do you use for voice overs? Shit sounds really good, could just be your angelic voice though.
Speed holes in the floor. Nice.
pre 301+ club. Oh yeah.

+Emil Davis FYI the 301 view limit is no longer a thing.
Hmmm
The Bruce Henns Is Real
This is going to be an interesting series!
i'de try to find a 8.8 or 9in with a factory limited slip and disk brakes
I eagerly await part 2.
Are you planning on doing a drum brake to disk brake conversion to the front end too?
Yep
Awesome enjoy every minute of it!
Thanks Advanced Auto Parts. I'll start purchasing from you.

Did you do the commentary for Classic Game Room's, "On this day in gaming" on November 22nd, 2012? Just curious as the voices are very similar.
Mr. Regular getting his Taylor Swift on in this video.
4:39
Exactly how I feel as I'm getting into modding my miata, and added up the price between that and my '88 XT600.
Haha, well to be fair MCM does make their own music since Moog and Marty are both professional sound engineers
Uh oh, Taylor Swift in the background. She's gonna swoop down from the sky and kill you!
lol, I went to Advanced Auto Parts once and the guy behind the counter had no idea what an alternator was.....
That US Marines sticker though, RAH!
During the lift, I definitely thought you were going to say "If this was Roadkill, the car would have fallen off the lift and broken 72 separate parts"
i have a 9 inch
+crazyviolent69 ;)
This is so cool, I just got a 1965 amc marlin and have my first project as of a month ago. Advance Auto parts has been my go to place after experiencing lazy employees that are usually clueless everywhere else.
I still don't approve of the engine swap, but I like the way you're presenting the process.
Hey Mr.Regular. Would you consider any under body strengthening to the Vagabond in the future?
what happened to 60fps vids, mr regular?
On this episode of Regular Car Reviews; we turn the show into a reality show with week long commercial breaks.
Dat ending tho.
Good on ya Advance Auto for supporting quality entertainment, as well as being an awesome place to buy parts >_>
Watch a bit of hot rod garage on motortrends channel mr regular . They do a lot of suspension swaps and upgrades to muscle cars and it's an educational show , not fake or anything
If Advance Auto is now a sponser, you might wanna consider not calling them "Advanced" Auto Parts. They tend to hate that.
The garage seems so manly, but I love how girly pop music is always playing in the background, lol.
I think the Chevy Astro was built that same way. It had part of a truck frame in the front and part of a truck frame in the back, with only the unibody holding the two together. So basically only thing to remain stock is the body? All the drive train is going to be modern stuff...
what about a ranger/explorer 8.8? they're even shorter than the mustang 8.8 axles.
Though it's not being built for this purpose, I do hope that there's some smokey sideways action.
I'm not talking about the kind that happens in a dirty doublewide trailer at 2 am.
Still waiting for Bruce and Tony assing the Falcon..
So happy the channel is going well for you, to the point where you can now do a RCR Project Car, I hope this is the first of a few and best of luck with OVF
In any future episodes I would suggest that you turn the background music down. Some jackass could come along and copyright strike your videos, and I want to see this series to the end!
That moon cover removal tool...my garage has one. I always wondered what it was!
Are you going to try to keep the original look for the wheels (as in, the wide white walls and half-moon hubcaps)?
Congratulations on your sponsorship, man. That's big time support.
From what he was saying about "all this comes off" and "box it here and it goes all the way across" it seems like you're going to go Mustang II on the front, no?

Hey, i work at advance... and i'm the only one in my store who knows anything about cars!
I like the style of this video, looking forward to the rest of the series.
this is absolutely the only time I've ever been proud to work for advanced
I personally would just find a guy to shorten that Mustang rear .... a Ford 9 inch is nice but it's overkill for that car and tough to find because everybody wants them for their high horsepower race cars

Nick Martin thats what im sayin, keep the drums and the hubs, right? In order to keep the red wheels?
+Kyle Morgese move ing those 4 on 4.5 drums onto that modern 8.8 rear end probably wont be that simple. it'd probably be easier to find a 5 on 4.5 wheel that can huse those hubcaps and just powdercoat it red like the originals

Please make these longer if possible. Otherwise just keep up the good work.
Looking good fellas! Makes me want to get my dad motivated so we can get to work on our '63 Falcon that is sitting in our garage.
I like MCM but since they live upside down they upload at a time which makes it so I get them in the morning, and that show is not made for the morning.
Anyone else watching this after part 22? You can still hear joy in his voice.
"or if this was a podcast it would be going like draft kings baby" HA
Congrats on the new sponsorship, love the Vagabond videos!
Anyone else just listening to the music in the background?
Was that you Mr. Regular in the begging driving in the vagabond?
you might want to call your sponsor by the correct name... advance auto parts not advanced auto parts
Love these more "Technical" videos... Excited for the rest of the series!
0:33 "if it were mighty car mods it would be goin...." lol
Those holes you see in the floorboard are probably the holes for seat belts. You pull the plugs out from the inside and they're threaded for bolts.
the guy in the beginning in the falcon is Mr. regular
I work at advance auto, and it's great to see them be a sponsor for one of my favorite channels :)
Congrats dude, having Advance Auto as a sponsor is huge and you and the Roman deserve it.
Amazing how little rust there is on that thing.
5:10 well can't be a garage without the sh*tiest music on the radio...
What fuel economy are you expecting out of the 302?
Did we see Mr. Regular driving the car onto the lift?
Yeah, that's the basic way most chassis are built today.
My truck is from 78 and it had original shocks.
You going to add RackNPin from a Crown Vic?
Nice Video , Real Car Reviews. :)
Hey watch the music, we don't want you to get a copyright strike
Gosh, congratulations on the new sponsor c: I hope you're ready progressively more and more noodles accusing you of selling out, though >w
Omg 1 New sponsor he totes sold out Unsub dislike all vids
