- Immersive flight report on board Aer Lingus Airbus A330 from Dublin, Ireland to Chicago, Illinois, United-States. During rotation the airplane hit a flock of birds, damaging the right hand engine and causing vibrations. The Airbus A330-300 was safely diverted back to Dublin with an overweight landing and we got a replacement aircraft a few hours later. Thanks to Aer Lingus for their professionalism!

My heart would actually sink looking out that window and seeing those birds fly in followed by the droning engine sound
What minute is is that bird strike?

Anyone noticed the Air Force One at 36:15?
Good eye. Biden was here in Dublin between 11-15 April
And 01:38
Great how everyone was calm on that flight, and 2019 that's very new for an a330
You can hear the engine changing sound, after the birds hit on it. 😯
Probably the blades on the compressor got destructed
Very interesting
Air Force One just casually parked lol
Aerlingus crew a so skillfull😊
[Edit] The captain on that flight was my god father
Hey, look on the bright side, your replacement aircraft had the newer Aer Lingus interior. Gotta find the silver lining, I suppose.
Indeed, I am not complaining 👌🏽
Well that's me missing my train from Chicago to Champaign IL. Would the airline have to pay for overnight hotel expenses?
Hallo Pascal - wieder mal ein Superbeitrag! Habe 1977 in Toronto PPL 1 für Cessna 172 gemacht. Wegen Rot-Grünschwäche ergab das Medical Exam: "Daylight flying only, no commercial aircraft." Bin ich halt in die Ingenieurwissenschaften gegangen. Ein interessantes Detail, das ich gerne erwähne - in unserer Flugschule in der Nähe Pearson Airport stand ein Spruch über der Tafel im Unterrichtsraum: "There are many bold pilots. There are many old pilots. But there are very few bold and old pilots."
did a birdstrike hit air force one ?
Excellent synopsis of flight, glad all safely down. Wonder if fuel dump done? ☘️
Thanks, no fuel dump. We did an overweight landing and used the full runway length
Yes, it makes sense because doing a fuel dump requires enough altitude for the fuel to décompose before it touches the ground (environement safety) and in a case of an engine failure like this, you don't want to waste time to climb, do your fuel dump and descend back again to the airport. This would take easily an hour. Anyways thanks for the inside pov it's very good quality!
@@grat12courge39 Exactly! Thanks
@@grat12courge39 The A330 can't dump fuel. (Doesn't really need to as even fully loaded it's only barely above its regular max landing weight)
@@en7165 ofc i didn't think about this thanks so much
The poor bird had a very bad day
I can see my house in the video :)
is the bird okay?
Popped 🗼
les flights reports sont finis?
Non, ils se sont passé beaucoup de choses ces derniers temps. Il faut que je publie le retour
Economy class?

@@TheFlyingFrenchmanHD nice I sat at that seat before on Korean air but the seating number was 29H I was flying to HCM after we flew from SFO landed at ICN switched to the A330 it had PW4000s on it
@@Pkmn_mlp_sonic_fnaf_fan Yeah it’s a great engine and wing view
@@TheFlyingFrenchmanHD my fav view of heavy planes
@@TheFlyingFrenchmanHD also the bird strike it broke the fan blades too that’s what causing the vibration
Pauvres oiseaux 😓
If there is a bird strike would they change the engine?
Depends on the extent of the damage. Usually they may be damage to some blades and/or engine intake and some ducts. Maybe a few other components but nothing that would require complete engine change. Usually.
Went from an a330 to a b-17 real fast 🥴🥴🥴
Oh , 24:12 - bird strike! 😮
