As great as Mariana was, i wonder how he would have faired if he played during previous eras where Closers routinely pitched multiple innings to 'close' a game. Rivera came in each time just to get 3, sometimes 4, outs. I'm sure there are other HOF closers who would have loved that low quantity workload during their careers
A closer. They just have a different mentality, the same kind of mentality as me. Its not about being in the game at the beginning I want to be in the game at the end. They also have it a little easier. Less innings, don’t have to be as crafty. Just go out there and throw your 1-2 pitches and finish a game.
