- As part of their I Love the 1990s series the BBC talk to Louise, Kelle, ex-manager Denis iIngoldsby and other figureheads from the decade about the girls career throughout the 1990s.
Originally aired in 2001.
esther was vocally gifted
Easther has a stunning voice. Such a shame we didn't get to hear more of her as a solo artist.
not very fond of the sisters, but i have to say Easther has one of the best voices i have ever heard. not only that but she was such beauty.
Easther has a fantastic voice. One of those voices that stirs up so many emotions when I go back snd listen to old performances these days.
I love the sisters. They have class, dignity, soul and talent compared to the other two stage school wannabes!
@@1977UKThey were bullies, regardless of how talented they were. Treating people badly isn’t “classy”.
@@lisa_squared the sisters were not bullies. why did Louise try to reunite with said bullies? Trashing ex-band mates in the press is actually bullying and enabling trolling. That’s exactly what Kelle and Louise have done! Shameful!
it was such a joy to see all the footage with the original line up. i lived through it. good times :) a treat to see michelle gayle as well :)
So a bloke was stalking round nightclubs approaching 15 year old girls who were even too young to be in a club!
A lot of questions there indeed.
Weirdly enough that would happen. 16 yr olds in clubs singing. No one cared
@@thehawk5141 right....
Yeah to get them into a pop group.
Lol why were they in the club ?
easther and vernie are my cousins amazing singers💕💕x.
What are they doing now? Please tell Easther to sing again
The four of them were perfect together. Eternal wasn't the same once Louise left, and it's a shame because before the Spice Girls they showed that a diverse group could be successful.
Funny watching this and Denis Ingoldsby being all 'What destroyed Eternal was themselves'. His track record after them with Honeyz and his complete ineptitude with managing girl groups suggests otherwise!
I agree. If the girls weren't going to be managed properly, separation was inevitable. Toxic splits are so unnecessary. People's mental health is at stake but most of these money-hungry managers see is controversy sells papers. Seeing a line up who fans loved fall apart is hurtful for them - not as devastating as for the artists whose identities have been shattered but still disappointing for fans. So a big thumbs down to bad girl group managers.
@@sirjaya2534 I think bad managers full stop, but especially for girl groups. You watch stuff like this, and also The Big Reunion and when Steps reunited and one thing is common to all of them. Managers that had no business managing people that were still quite young and delicate to begin with when they joined these bands. Not all, because there are some exceptions, but they are all the same. Chris Herbert (who originally managed the Spice Girls before they chucked him for Simon Fuller) was abysmal looking after Five and Hear'Say. Nigel Martin Smith likewise with Take That. Tim Byrne DATING H from Steps and pushing him to the front of everything. And Lou Pearlman with NSYNC/Backstreet Boys? Let's not even go there 😒
I agree with this i believe Denis didn't do a good job of keeping the girls together. He did a horrible job of neutralizing the miscommunication between them. To be honest I believe he wanted Louise solo from the start and put it in her ear to leave the group, look at how he was going on about her looks.... he gets a major side eye from me
Louise was the Justin Timberlake of the group.. Wasnt the best vocally but could hold her own and visually stunning and could dance! I feel she loved being with the girls but also knew she could be the main character on her own which is understandable.
Lol she’s the only white one lol
@@bgcrp2005So?
Justin Timberlake is talented!
Denis we thank you!
I loved this group I wish they would have stayed together
Nothing is eternal. Pun intended.
As a black male i was very sad when Louise left.
What has your race got to do with it unless you are one of those guys that only fancies white girls??
They were so much better than all saints, these were the real and raw 90s rnb talent of the UK.
Nice try sis. All saints are supreme.
@@g.g.2102 eternal - 12 hits in the top 10, all saints only 9. Eternal 4 albums in the top 10, all saints only 3. Sorry you've lost this one.
There's no need to compare, though. All Saints was a great group too.
@@jeniestra. for me the issue is recognition. Ask people if they can name an all saints song and they can but can they name an eternal song? Less likely. So how is it a more successful but predominately black group are less remembered in society than the former?
@@asmrfoodieuk7965 But recognition doesn't equal quality, if we only talk about music both groups were great. As for recognition, All Saints had a more diverse audience than Eternal and they were far bigger around the world. I'm saying this as someone who is from South America, Eternal got some sort of recognition around here in 1997, while All Saints were everywhere since they started until 2003 or so.
Better than destiny's child they were great songs!!
Such a shame these girls Broke up. ♡ Amazing group Louise music so different to Eternal both music was Brilliant ♡
I still have a copy of that FHM magazine (5:14) and I bought it at the time just because of the photos and article for Louise. :-)
What a down to earth girl, loved ta of meet her in person ❤️ xx
That lady @6:07 asked the RIGHT & ONLY question: "Why didn't Easther & Vernie do it by themselves from the beginning cuz they clearly didn't want the other 2 there & they were the main talent??!!". I've often asked this about Destiny's Child & Beyonce. Hell --- even Diana Ross & the Supremes!!
No personality
You'll notice the lead of most groups don't actually have much personality and the others do the talking.
This was the same with Destiny's Child. Beyonce couldn't compete with Aaliyah, Brandy and Monica cause they had personalities
Its marketing, you can market a girl group but you cant market two sisters. Anyone know any famous sisters in a band who made it? Nope.
Easther was the best singer out of the group and its not like they put the group together in the first place they didnt have a say in what decisions were being made the manager who put them together even said he want like a gospel/pop type of group the sisters provided the gospel sound to the group while Louise and Kelle added more of a Pop touch to the sounds tbh Michelle comes off abit flakey here considering she was best friends with both the sisters at one point but hey
Well, It wasn't surprising about Beyonce. As someone reminded me once, the group's name was Destiny's Child after all.
@@asmrfoodieuk7965 Mel & Kim 😉
Louise and Kelle were brought in because they're attractive
Debatable
And they were doing great together, why did they split up? So sad.
love eternal.....😋⭐🔥😎👍🏿🖤💙💛💚❤
i wish kelle Louise and vernie sung more Love easther's eternal was all about the sisters they clearly didn't Want kelle in the band Anymore after Louise left
There is still hope yet - i think had covid not happened we'd have heard an announcement for a tour or something by now with Louise. I dont think its far off. They are all in a good space now.
I'd be surprised if the tour restarts. I think they need to concentrate on the new album and look at promoting that the best they can. Hopefully that will give them the opportunity to look at exploring the possibility of a future tour once new music has made an impact.
@@inwalkedlouise1074 restarts? The album? Haha they didnt announce anything yet did they lol
Wild thought, but maybe they left because they were relegated to backup singers?
Who cares as long as your raking in the dough!
I think the other two members didn't want be back up singers because in sum of thier performance you always see the sisters do the lead not other 2. I think that why they left. If the sisters had voices then why do a group for?
A guy i know was working in circles involving the band and he told me that Louise had to leave because the band wanted to crack America and at the time a band with a mix of black and white girls would not be accepted
I heard Louise couldn’t tek it na more
@@MIMI232 Yeah I can totally imagine that she felt left out especially going to places where people don't acknowledge that she's even part of the band. It appeared to be all about the sisters really, so her and Kelle probs didn't have much say.
That’s funny. The Spice Girls became huge around the same time but America accepted them because their group was predominantly white, with one black member. Eternal was the other way around, and the Louise stuck out like a sore thumb to society. It was for the better anyway, she found success on her own.
Thats BS, she left cause she met jamie. Her last album was what 1997, right around the time she married him. She became a housewife is all.
@@asmrfoodieuk7965 we’re talking about the reason she left Eternal which was long before she dated/married Jamie.
Sisters doing it for themselves
The sisters made it uncomfortable for Kelle
I thin Kelle made them uncomfortable!
Such a shame that Louise has carved her face up. She was gorgeous.
The manager Denis whatever his name is.... putting the blame on the girls why the group ended then years later same thing happened to Honeyz, another girl group he managed.... I'm like dude you shared the blame for both groups's demise.
Unfortunately eternal were actually terminal
It’s much lonelier being a solo act than it is being in a group.
Louise wasnt the best singer but her girl next door good looks and easy going charm made her the star of eternal.which means she had to go in those vile sisters eyes 😂😂😂😂😂
Louise needed the group for her entry to showbiz and fame and then she trashed them last year in the worst way possible... leaking stories to the press and enabling trolls against them to promote her flop album. Louise is also vile because she doesn’t support women, girls and vulnerable children. Read the Cass report!
I’m here because of hollyoaks
I had a crush on Louise
You and every guy
everyone and their dog had a crush on her back in the day
I'm only Happy, that Ester, and her sister, are no longer anyone worth speaking about. Horrible People.
Yes 😊
eternal died when one of them left.. hahahhaa. yup.
No they didn't, they died when Kelle left.
