Dallas Zoo's New Sumatran Tiger Explores With Confidence

- With GoPros mounted and our cameras ready, we captured our new Sumatran tiger Manis’s first thrilling moments in his new habitat last week. This is the largest habitat Manis has explored in 10 years! He inspected his new home with tons of enthusiasm and confidence. This 283-pound 11-year-old comes to us from the Kansas City Zoo.
Manis is here on a breeding recommendation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Sumatran Tiger Species Survival Plan. Today, there are more tigers living in human care than there are in the wild. For Sumatran tigers alone, fewer than 400 cats still roam their native land.
I love his new home, looks like his natural habitat. Thank you so much for providing enough room and nature for this endangered beautiful animal!!

This is one of the best exhibit designs that perfectly replicates the Sumatran Tiger's habitat all the while giving guests a good view of the Big Cat.
These Sumatran tigers maybe the smallest tiger subspecies but they have the most beautiful fur.
They are little bit smaller but with robust built and intense colouration looks like a true BIG cat..
Sumatran are descendants of ngandong tiger along with extinct javan and bali tiger, so maybe ngandong tiger have the looks like sumatran but with the body bigger than siberian tiger

Sumatran Tiger has more beautiful pattern its because his natural habitat are very dense tropical rain forest, his pattern make him able to hide perfectly since tiger are ambush predators.
Yeah..what makes sumatran tiger different is they have long beard and more hairy on her neck and nape, dark orange coat, and bold black stripe

It’s probably a top 5-10 tiger exhibit in the US. Really huge. The two best however are in the Minnesota zoo and the Bronx zoo.

Its amazing to see sumatran tiger with big moscular like that..👍 from one of the Indonesian island actually has 3 sub-species of tigers siginifcantly.., even we never seen javan tiger and also balinese tiger since 1970.., 😭

I dont think so, darker coat, bold stripe, lil mane and long beard makes them perfect and frightening (densed forest), siberian tiger is the lighter version of sumatran, both have long fur and beard... really2 handsome tiger

Nope, he aims to squirt on the leaves to mark his territory with his own scent. Its part of a male Tiger's lifestyle by letting other Tigers know especially other male Tigers that this is his territory and his staking claim to it. All cats including bigcats do that also Lions..
