    How utterly fantastic that Divers are able to safely travel to such cold, dark and eerie environments and bring back videos of their adventures amongst the luckless wrecks.
    The superb narration really takes the viewer along.

      Divers at this depth and down there for that length of time have to do decompression stops on the way back up and these waters are so dark. Imagine having to float for 30 mins at a time in pitch black halfway back up to the surface with nothing but an abyss of black in every direction, never sure what might emerge just feet away from you.

    This is great because you voiced over your dive perfectly and added photos to clarify what it is we're looking at. So many dive videos are the diver talking through the dive mask while under water making it difficult to understand and then the features being pointed out are also unclear. You're really good at this. Keep it up and thanks for sharing.

    The wreck of the Lusitania has indeed taken QUITE a beating, not only from the sinking itself but due to a number of other factors. You've got the winter tides, corrosion, the mess with the fishing nets, and lets not forget the Irish Navy in all their wisdom deciding to use the wreck as target practice for their destroyers.

    • @corribferox9099

      CJCody2006 - The Irish Navy never depth charged the wreck, this was done by the Royal (British) Navy during World War 2 when they believed that German U-Boats would use the wreck as cover. On another point, the Irish Navy has never utilised destroyers or frigates only patrol vessels.

    • @AvengerII
      @AvengerII 4 года назад +5

      A couple of things have contributed to Lusitania's disintegration.
      1) It settled on its side instead of its keel/upright like the Titanic. When a ship settles on its side like this, it tends to accordion/fold up. This is also happening with the Andrea Doria on the other side of the Atlantic. The superstructure for both ocean liners is pretty much gone now and the hulls are starting to cave in.
      2) It's in shallower water which makes the ship more accessible. You don't need to use a sub to visit it; it's within range of scuba gear but the depth is still dangerous and you have to limit your time down there. Nevertheless, that accessibility means a huge number of items have been removed from Lusitania including at least 3 of her 4 propellers. One of those propellers was melted down to make golf clubs! The US has one of the propellers on the grounds of a hotel in Texas, the other remaining propeller is owned by maritime museum in the United Kingdom.
      3) The current is very rough and contributes to the decay of that ship.
      4) The wreck has been used for target practice by the Royal Navy. They were concerned it might be used as a hiding spot by German u-boats. To discourage this AND to get practice at deploying their weapons, RN vessels did depth charge the Lusitania wreck.
      5) I already alluded to this but the easier access to the Lusitania wreck has meant there's been more salvage ON THE SHIP itself. In Titanic's case, most of the items have been removed from the debris field including the "Big Piece" and recovered telemotors. They've taken tons of things from inside the Lusitania including a recovered motion picture (1980s/1990s?) which they found wasn't completely damaged by the water! There are rumors of priceless paintings sealed in lead containers that might still be recoverable.

    • @average.6079
      @average.6079 2 месяца назад

      Because the wreckage of the Titanic is inconsistent with the design of the Olympic. Nameplate, bridge wing caps, promenade deck windows, grand staircase design, more first-class cabins, and the serial number on her propeller being that of Titanic.
      The idea that they swapped because Olympic was 'old' is untrue. She was in service for only a year at that point and was actually the more popular sister up until Titanic's sinking.

      Yeah well if you think about it, the sinking of the Lusitania made America join the war therefore making Germany lose the war.

    The bow of the ship is where many lives perished and had no chance to escape from what I understand.

    too cool. she was a beautiful ship that made history for terrible reasons, IMO. Woodrow tried his best, but the Lusitania’s fate swayed the matter. too bad no one learned their lesson(s) ever since
