Great value made in Spain, I've got a pair of there Chelsea boots bought in Spain some 20 plus years ago and still going strong. At that price point you'll sell plenty I'm sure

Very nice. I’ve wondered about Berwick 1707 ever since seeing them on the ‘A Fine Pair of Shoes’ website years ago. If you say they’re good, then that’s good enough for me.

    Viva Berwick Anthony.
Certainly a great alternative to Loake at these prices 👍.

Berwick shoes show how the UK shoe manufacturers could improve their manufacturing with more investment in their businesses. They sell their Spanish made shoes for the same price that Loake sell their completely Indian made shoes.
From my relatively uninformed perspective they seem to have a very modern factory and efficient manufacturing process that doesn't see piles of half finished shoes languishing for weeks awaiting finishing.
I know Spanish labour costs are a bit lower than UK labour costs but manufacturing in the EU is hardly cheap and I doubt that Spanish workers are working longer hours (or harder) than British workers.
And having owned around twenty pairs of Berwick shoes including some sold by Herring under their own name, I agree completely that the quality control is very good and materials are comparable with the main ranges from UK brands like Loake and Barker.

Spot on....especially when you understand that almost all retail is marked up 2.5 times !
We don't quite get that on shoes, but it's not far off. I'd like to do a video on this topic so people will understand why most shoe manufacturers push to make more retail sales than trade sales. And how they have special styles that aren't available to their retailers. When I sell a shoe a percentage goes to the
Stock, rent, rates, electricity, accountants, gas, window cleaners, insurance, wages, decor, and shop fittings. And probably lots more that the manufacturer won't have on their extra online sales. 🙄

@@shoehealer8853 I've certainly seen Cheaney wheel out the same dress shoes in the 6184 last every sale season that you don't see on their website for the rest of the year. By law they must have sold them for at least a month at the previous price so they probably did have them there at some point. To be fair though I have to admit to getting a good few of Cheaney's regular shoes and boots at bargain prices off their website, usually because it is a discontinued colour or style. I have noticed that they also cycle through many styles so they return a few years later.
It's the same with Barker's and Loake where they sell off the discontinued colours or styles in the sales plus use up some spare leather by making the same styles in a new leather type. To be fair again they may be testing out the market for these and they can end up in their ranges eventually (e.g. Barker Orkney in snuff suede) . In addition they can also sell models from their overseas ranges that sometimes have different models or colours to the UK ranges.

That sounds like very good deals! How are the lasts and are they UK real sizes?
That’s the problem with buying Italians for example.
I would like your opinion on Sanders. I have one pair of suede boots and they are fantastic.

Berwick tend to be a little oversized like Loake or Barker, depending on last.
For example, as a size 12UK Brannock, I wear size 12UK in Cheaney and Crockett and Jones and Trickers 4497S lasts, but 11.5UK in Loake Capital last and 11.5UK in Barker 464 last.
For Berwick, I wear size 12UK boots or 11.5UK shoes in their 207 last.
For Berwick lasts 184 and 110 I'm an 11.5UK but can wear 12UK if I want a bit of extra room for thick socks etc.
For Berwick last 132 I actually wear a size 11UK a whole size down.
If you're still not sure A Fine Pair of Shoes retailers have a useful comparison chart where they give measurements (I've no connection with AFPOS).

Your absolutely right, sometimes the sizes can be a little bit deep and roomy depending on the style and last shape.
I will have to do another video on sizing.
      Antony 👍
Sanders do make some fabulous stuff, we love them..
