💯 Days of Sun
Today marks 100 days since I started my daily observations of the Sun. Each morning from Central Florida, weather permitted..
My goal is to have a timelapse of Sun rotation from the summer solstice to the winter solstice. In June, during the summer solstice, I observed the sunspots moving from the 8 oclock position to the 2 oclock position. But now, I'm noticing a counterclockwise wagonwheel effect as we get closer and closer to the winter solstice. We are in September and now the sunspots are moving from the 6 oclock position to the 12 oclock position.
FYI, my shots are in the morning, and each day we have a clockwise wagonwheel effect that happens as the Sun moves across the sky east to west. Remember that this is due to perspective as the Sun moves throughout the day. So its almost like the wagonwheel effect becomes greater as the Sun moves away from me and gets closer to the winter solstice.
We need more people doing daily observations.
For example...
Maltese and myself got sun shots simultaneously and the positions of the sunspots seemed strange to us. It looked like the sunspots rotated backwards a little bit when comparing his shot to mine, but he is about 3 hours ahead of me. So that could explain it.
But this is why we need more people out in the field doing observations with us.
