14 years later and RO fans still have nothing but thanks and praise for this truly magnificent game. I'm just glad I got to experience it in its prime. It was truly in a class of its own. I think only the people who actually experienced rag batik between the years of 2002 and 2009 really, truly understand how special it was. Now I just hope ToS can bring back even just a fraction of magic dust they used to make RO.
fully agree. RO is at it's best in the early days. I still remember there are no bots in Byalan.. and people are cursing each other at the Vadon area for kill stealing. XD
I am almost 50 myself and this song still gives me goosebumps. BTW when the RO servers first went online in my country (2003), i was a college student. back then not many people had access to online gaming. unless you're hard core gamers and/or adult (college students, office workers, etc). I remember the RO was fun to play because the community in those early years were the best, since they mostly adult gamers, so they knew how to behave. but then, the RO became famous and attracted many little kids to joined the game, and the quality of the community went down hill since then. because most of those kids players were rude and didn't respect other players. many old time players moved to other servers to avoid those kids, but they also swarmed the other servers too. that's the beginning of the end of RO in my country. the community wasn't the same anymore and it made many players feel uncomfortable, and since the game isn't fun to play anymore, many people left the game, some people moved to private server, some left it completely. but RO still has special place in my heart. when the COVID pandemic strike and the government ordered a nation wide lockdown, I started playing RO again in GNJOY server. i remember crying when i saw Prontera again after all those years. but still... even if it's the same game, it feels very different than 2003. the communities are different, and now it's all about WOE, not adventure anymore. so now i only play RO if i feel nostalgic. the old RO community are still the best.

Remember back then when i started playing around 2006 i was just 17, and now i am over 30. I still remember saving my pocket money for lunch at school just to buy daily cards to play RO at cyber cafe. My proudest things in RO is that I leveled up my priest to level 90 with using my bare hands with my leveling partner (a hunter) at GH. And then, transcendent classes was introduced. and i build my high priest to DEX99 with drops card and all DEX eq just that i cast sanctuary and safety wall over the emperium over and over again /gg /e4. Throughout the 3-4 years, i have met new many friends and enemy (who eventually become friends when i quitted). These will be my most precious irreplaceable memory. Thank you Ragnarok for giving me such an amazing and once in a lifetime childhood experience.

Too bad, when this game is at the peak, I still in my high school. I didn't have enough money to play regularly. Only reached level 75ish spear knight, hunting high orc with ice pike pierce. But, thats made my memories beautiful.
Still remembered how much i was so ADDICTED and LOVE this song. So much that I changed other maps' BGM to this song and listen to it 100+ times while levelling up.

I played that game for hours everyday in 2003 and 2004 (then I discovered Lineage 2), I don't know what part inside exactly gave us so many emotions, but MMORPG never reached that peak again after. Once a year at least, this melody suddenly rushes through my mind, I open RUclips and the magic occurs every time. Never misses.
That's really interesting, my journey was similar Diablo 2 --> Ragnarok Online (XaosRO) --> Lineage 2 (L2 Dexternet) There's no other game like RO or L2 with the same balance between grind, (mass-) pvp, pve

Flashbacks. My Professor uses a Cloak Muffler to stealth along the wall with my Assassin Cross buddy.. Sneaking past the big fight at the entrance where the Bards and Wizards spam Bragi, Storm Gust, etc.. I pop out near the top, my SinX friend casts EDP and I use Land Protector on the Emperium to remove all the Safety Walls, start whacking that Emp and the whole battle is over. WoE was just such a fun part of my life. Miss you Shika/Divi/etc.

Everyone imagine... back in a time when there weren't as many P2W servers... people sat in towns talking in ENGLISH not Spanish. You would see someone in a dungeon and you guys would form a party. You could join a 255 server and it would still be the same just more fun and grinding with friends. People hung out in PVP talking as if they weren't in PVP and WOE wasn't a required thing to do if you didn't want to. Back... when these servers... could survive... Now it's: "Do eden quests!" "If you join LimitRO get to lvl 100 3rd class in 1 hour." "Solo is the best kind of leveling because party members just slow you down because the exp is cut in half." "You want to use the full 9 character slots in the game? Fine pay us and we will give them to you and a few other bonuses." I joined a server called Earthbound-RO in 2009/2010 as it was dying. It closed then reopened in 2011 after the Admin screwed up and added op donation items into the game and went from 300 players on to in 2011 about 50 on the first few weeks then 1 or 2 afterwards. Ir then did a new reopening i think in 2012 or 2013 and it happened again... 20 or so players joined at first then it died. I never did reach the max level of 255 (got to 253 then stopped) even though it was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the Zombies mode they added and the custom maze that was created. The server just couldn't be revived... still have yet to find a server like it that isn't on the verge of death. Damn it sucks joining into a really fun game when it is dying... it really does. Also back in the day where you typed like this because you were walking and couldnt type fast enough so you spammed enter on every word .

This is definitely my Childhood, and this came out when i was in secondary school, 2003, and i played this the 1st week it was released, and i played until 2012 and play a bit more in 2018 for a couple of months.... i devoted 10 years of my life for Ragnarok, but not once i regret it. If i could do it again, i would.

I never did reach the max level of 255 (got to 253 then stopped) even though it was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the Zombies mode they added and the custom maze that was created.
The server just couldn't be revived... still have yet to find a server like it that isn't on the verge of death. Damn it sucks joining into a really fun game when it is dying... it really does.

I get chills the entire time i listen to this song. Memories of a time when i used to play this game fill my mind and shake me. Music is truly powerful.

This is definitely my Childhood, and this came out when i was in secondary school, 2003, and i played this the 1st week it was released, and i played until 2012 and play a bit more in 2018 for a couple of months.... i devoted 10 years of my life for Ragnarok, but not once i regret it. If i could do it again, i would.
