I do not get why such a legend only has 68k subscribers. I have watched him debate for several years on apologetics, and he make, for me, part of a trinity with Lennox and Ravi. God bless you brother Craig.
Romans 4:21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
1 Corinthians 1:30 clearly says where we get our righteousness from. Philippians 3:9 and a myriad of verses imply we can only be seen before God with Christ's righteousness. How can such studious men not see that.
Imputed Righteousness: Yes, righteousness comes through faith, but justification is a legal concept based on the forgiveness of sins; a verdict of acquittal given to sinners as a gift - he is declared free from guilt and accounted as righteous (Romans 4: 6-9). But it has nothing to do with being imputed with Christ’s righteousness. There’s actually not a verse in the bible that specifies, ‘we are imputed with Christ’s righteousness.’ If we were, we would become as sinless and perfect as He was - and we’re not (1 Jn 1: 8-9). Romans 3:23-26 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, BEING JUSTIFIED freely by His grace THROUGH THE REDEMPTION that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and THE JUSTIFIER OF THE ONE WHO HAS FAITH IN JESUS.” Notice in the paragraph above, how JUSTIFICATION is always connected with sin and the sinner? To justify is a legal term meaning - to declare, pronounce or account one to be righteous; the verdict of a judge- the verdict of acquittal in which one is declared to be free from guilt; the act of a judge in accounting a person righteous - not guilty! Therefore, we are talking about a - JUSTIFICATION OF SINNERS based on forgiveness of sins; a verdict of acquittal given to the sinner as a gift - by which he is declared or accounted as righteous. By two means here: 1. It is - “through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” 2. It is - “through faith in Jesus Christ.” The word faith sums up the means by which a person receives or appropriates to himself this righteousness manifested in the gospel.
To add up..... A theological comment as I see it clearly gundry commit an error in his inference.... It is clear that there is no inherent righteousness in us by faith or as means of faith.... It simply our faith as respond to Christ Righteousness or as outstrech hand to Christ Righteousness.... In his view he will destroy the Justification Doctrine or The Substitutionary Atonement. This is from a quick search, so do more research... The word “righteousness” (Greek: dikaiosune) is intrinsically associated with the concept of justice. It stems from the Greek word dikaios meaning “equity of character and action” where the stress on equity (impartiality, fairness) and action implies the concept of justice. I'm trying to understand this myself. The correct interpretation of this is critical for understanding so much of the rest of the Bible IMHO.

Nice to hear from someone else than NT Wright on this. Good work WLC!
Great content!

Righteousness?? What does that mean?
Right relationships with others.

Talk about cognitive dissonance...this guy is the master.
Faith has many definitions. He doesn’t even bother to define the word as he sees it. That is problematic.
He can't define faith in every video, he's spoken about it a billion times.
Union with Christ?? Wtf?
