    This would be such a nice way to include bits of sentimental fabrics from the clothing of growing children, or deceased loved ones. When I was a kid, my mother made us wall hangings covered with pockets to store our treasures in. They were cute as well as handy.

    its fun to use our clothing in journal making - or even purchase some from the Thrift Shop - Natasa when you were showing the pocket with the pens on front - but you didn't want to attach it because it would get in the way of writing - you can Velcro it on - and then remove it when writing or creating in the journal - just wanted to give you a suggestion - lovely video - Hugs xx

    You inspired me. . again! I planned on making my girls and my nieces journals for Christmas, and in my older girl's journal, I will use a pocket from one of my scrap clothes pieces and fill it with cut out typed messages of love to her. I wrote it up before I even watched this whole video. I love her so much! I am so lucky to have her. She's 7. The other one just turned 3, so she is too young for the same kind of gift, but she will get one for painting and gluing in. She loves to play with the toys I use, so she rips paper and glues it down on other paper, etc. Lol She also loves to paint! Thank you as always!

    What a great way to start my weekend I just took pockets off some jeans and wondering what I could do with them for this time? I've use the pockets before to transfer old pictures when I was a little girl, (3 or 4) yrs, in a black & white photo I left a little bit of the pants above the pockets to tie thick twine in one knot on each side decorated with buttons, etc now it hangs on the door nob in my sew studio. So when I seen your video it brought back memories I'm so happy to find another way to use my pockets and all your ideals where awesome & loved all your ideals. Great ideas here! I’ve been saving old jeans because I want to make a purse using the seat...so front pockets with zipper are in front and rear pockets in back. But using other jeans or shirts I can make journal inserts! I think it would be fun to attach one to a large paper clip so it can be slid on and off easily. TYFS! Your channel is still my fav ❤️🦋💜

    Very inspiring, thank you for this video. I've often wondered what to do with pockets on clothes that I deconstruct. Organizer bags also have very interesting pockets that could be stitched on a cover or tag. Last week I followed your tutorial making covers from tissue boxes. They turned out cute, and now I'm thinking these pockets would have been nice ephemera pockets . However, instead of an ephemera journal, I turned my tissue boxes into traveler's notebook covers. The seam of the tissue box cover formed an extra crease to accommodate gator mouth expansion. I made five of these TN and they fit nicely stored in a tissue box.

    Natasha these are SO cute! The first two you showed us, the plaid ones, looked perfect for a man's journal... I know some men would love a place to keep treasures and write things down. I'm sure you're too young to remember, but in the '70s we used to make bags (not a "purse" really, but it held all that kind of stuff) out of jeans by cutting the legs off, stitching just above the crotch, and making a shoulder strap out of fabric from one of the legs. Some girls would even line theirs with flannel! I love re-using jeans 👖 (but REAL jeans, not those ones with stretchy Lycra in them. 😮😳😩😝. This was fun! And I love your idea of a bulletin board of sorts with a couple of pockets on it to hold pens and pencils and stuff. So clever my dear, SO clever. With love from the Southern California desert, MK. ❤️☀️🌵

    Hi Natasha, These upcycled pockets should be a hit with your followers. I love that you think outside the box and use a lot of recyled items in your projects.
    Summer has ended in the states a few short weeks ago so I really wasn't into the craft for awhile. I started again this week and turned to your videos for inspirations. I watched your finished journal video ( one with the large sunflower) so I had in mind a larger size journal. Well I made the cover and soon realized that the signatures would be way to small, even 12×12 papers wouldnt work. Now I see your large journal here so I wondered how you made these signatures. Would you please explain a little of the process? It's very nice that you offer questions and I am grateful.
    Phew! Long comment. Lol,
    I thank you for sharing all your creatively and your wonderful personality. 🌻

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  4 года назад +2

      Oh yes, I see what you mean. Ok so for large jourals, or the particular one that I've shown, I either have the printer paper sideways in thee, I also used large sheets out of large notebooks, or I also hinge smaller papers together by overlapping and gluing, or I sew them together. I hope it makes sense. If you have a look at this video here ruclips.net/video/hN1a5lbLb6s/видео.html there is a very large journal, and you may be able to see what I'm talking about. Good luck!

    That is an amazing idea!! The one pocket you thought about gluing to the front but it was going to be too bulky to write when open. . .I am a visual person so I am not sure if I can explain my idea. . The journal is closed and the pocket is sitting on top. Make a tag that is two layers and HINGES ON THE RIGHT. Then make a "sandwich" - form the bottom up - the journal, the two layer tag (that hinges on the right) and finally the beautiful tag. From the bottom up - glue the FRONT of the journal to the BACK of the two layered tag. Glue the FRONT of the two layered tag to the BACK of the beautiful tag. When it is done the beautiful tag will "hinge" put of the way when the journal is opened. You will still have access to all your pens and drawing instruments in the pocket. Did that make sense? I hope so. Lovely video!!

    When you come to the rivet the height of the pocket causes the presser foot to not lay flat and it will cause problems with the sewing. You can lift the foot, put a piece of chipboard BEHIND the needle to level out the foot, lower the presser foot and continue sewing. You night find a tool for this purpose in the sewing section of your craft store. They are sold as jeans hemming tool for the extra bulk of the seams when you are hemming jeans.

    for the one with the pens you could put elastic around it and pop it on or off the journal

    Love your pockets!
    You used a large journal to demo with. How do you make a journal that big? I could see the signatures were sewn in just like other journals but how do you make an 8.5 x 11 inch signature when you can't fold the paper (because then it's 4x6 roughly)? Do you use bigger paper?

      Yes I use bigger paper, or I hinge, or sew two papers together :)
