      @ᜑᜈ᜔ᜇ᜔ᜌᜓᜅ᜔ Hi, di kasi 'religion' ang anitism, paniniwala (belief) siya, kaya walang 'conversion' na nagaganap.

      @ᜑᜈ᜔ᜇ᜔ᜌᜓᜅ᜔ It's a belief dude not really much of a Religion, Anitism itself is still present pretty much in modern Filipino Catholicism especially in the Visayas and in Mindanao

      @Xinnie the Pooh Anito in by itself can actually mean ancestors so... Yeah, just honour your ancestors or great grandparents and often asked them for guidance in life that's pretty much it for our Anitism.
      I often do that, when visiting my grandparents graves
      My family even believes that our disease family members is always watching us in form of butterflies and such, be it with a Catholicism touch.

    • @gungatz6696
      @gungatz6696 2 года назад +1

      @Xinnie the Pooh I wholeheartedly believe that the Anito statues were only there to represent a diceased love one, of which died in a time were our people had no concept of such things as gravesites
      Or name placks for the diceased.

    Being an Indian Hindu,it makes me feel glad that people are taking interest in learning about their pre-colonial roots. May the Ancients across the Globe rise again and give us their blessings.

    Anitism is an umbrella for many different and separate cultural practices specific to particular regions. Like paganism. Ancient practices are a reflection of the homage paid to natural totems and forces. They weren’t the same.

    Aswang is a general term for a monster in Philippine mythology. That lady monster with half-body and bat wings is called "Manananggal" and related to "Penanggalan" in Malaysian folklore.

    @Gogof Magog : Tungkol sa Abba -
    The first news about this Religion, we find in the story of Lombard Antonio Pigáfetta, Magellan's chronicler. When he discovered our archipelago in 1521. Pigafetta tells that the natives of Limasawa, an island between Surigaw and Butuan, called Their God Abba , which he described as a frightening diety made of wood and was hollow at the back this was in cebu, It's legs and arms were spread, feet raised, a very wide face and an open mouth revealing four long fangs like those of a wild boar; On the shores of that island there were many temples ... where food was offered to the dieties or souls of the ancestors; but in cases of serious illness, they slaughtered a pig, (what he mistakenly called the 'consecration of the pig') . they also feared a large black bird, which, according to them , perched at night on the roof of their houses and cawed. The dogs howled and scratched until the dawn.

      I wonder if they also have record about the religion of waray people before the colonialistion because my people believed that "batik" (tattoo) can give you "Mana"(power or protection) from our "Apoy"(ancestors) if you are in Pangayaw(war).😅

    In the ancient Philippines archipelago, the predominant religious beliefs were rooted in paganism. This encompassed a diverse array of spiritual practices and deities, ranging from reverence for human-like gods to mythical creatures, animals, plants, fairies, and even beings associated with darkness or evil. These beliefs were deeply intertwined with daily life, shaping cultural traditions, rituals, and societal norms. The polytheistic nature of paganism allowed for a multifaceted understanding of the world and spiritual realm, reflecting the rich tapestry of beliefs among ancient Filipino communities.
    For example, among the pagan Gaddang group, their reverence extends to their king, whom they regard as a divine deity. Their religious practices often include rituals and customs that may be deemed unacceptable and forbidden in more mainstream or civilized societies. These practices, though integral to their spiritual beliefs, may challenge conventional norms and moral standards, reflecting the complexity and diversity of ancient Filipino religious traditions.

      Our country is much estable in the Christian way, but the Spaniards doesn't have any interest turning the pH into a Christian majority, they only want is gold and glory, but the Filipinos have gotten interested to convert in Christianity. I love and thanks the Spaniards without them there would be now Philippines
