"Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said Thursday that he planned to sign a bill state legislators sent to his desk this week that would allow school staff members to carry concealed handguns on school grounds.
"What’s important to me is that we give districts tools and the option to use a tool that will keep their children safe in their schools," Lee said at a news conference Thursday after he shared his plans to sign the legislation."

Not if the teachers hold up in the class rooms between the door and the students and do not leave the class room making sure that nobody breaches the classroom door.
I think it will be pretty for the police to know who is who.
The teachers will be the the ones inside the class rooms behind a locked door not running around looking for somebody to shoot
Plus most school shooters use some kind of rifle. AK, AR15, SKS....ECT and since the teachers have to keep their guns concealed that means the person moving around school grounds with a rifle. Will be the one doing the shooting.
And even in school shootings when the police make contact they always say,
      "Drop the weapon!"
      "Get on the ground!"
      Or something to that effect.
The bad guy will turn the gunon the police or continue shooting ppl that's going to be the guy. And nobody else should be pulling the trigger. Unless confronted by the shooter.
Before I went to prison I lawfully carried a 380 on me everywhere. I went for years and I never found a reason to pull it on some one.
One time I was even attacked by somebody. And never pulled it out. And I've never met a lawful gun owner who has actually had to pull their gun let alone fire it.
So follow the sound of gun shots and they will lead you to the shooter and only the shooter.
Lawful gun owners don't act the way you think they do lawful gun owners don't start shooting ppl every time they get upset or or go out looking for a reason to use it and most gun owners understand that every bullet that leaves the chamber could potentially escalate it to a life or death situation which nobody wants to do.

School is me t for learning teachers are ment to teach. Cool and shooting ranges are ment for shooting, killing ppl with a weapon of war should be left to war zones and guns are suppose to not be on school grounds.
I think your mixing up what is going on.
The school isn't adding "armed security" on to the teachers job description. Nobody is forcing any teacher to carry a gun and am disarm bad guys if they show up.
But if the teacher is put into a situation the teacher will be allowed the proper tools needed to defend their own life and the lives arounf them..
Since when is being unarmed and completely at the mercy of a madman with a gun at a school better than being armed. And given the ability to fight for your life Instead of putting your safety (only) in the hands of ppl who are miles away and more concerned about them making it dmhine to your family than their concern for you making it home is.
When your in a life or death situation most ppl, (including school teachers would like to have as many option to not die as possible.
If I was a teacher caught in a school with a shooter and the cops were not nearby to rely on. And I knew every minute that passes idms another child getting killed.
I would be breaking all kinds of laws and teacher protocols if it ment that there was even a slim chance of making it out alive and saving even one child.
And what do you think is going to happen in TN now that teachers have the right to conceal carry in the classroom in. The chance that a school falls victim to a psycho with a gun?
I don't understand how your irrational fear of gunss should impede on my constitutional right to self defense..
I'm not reained in muy tai or kick boxing should I also not be allowed to fight back if I'm attacked?
Im not a marathon runner either so should it be against the law for me to run away from a feral dog?

Cops who's entire job it is to serve and protect and enforce the law, in this high stress job fail miserably on a daily basis at those duties. What will happen when you place weapons in the hands of already high strung teachers, dealing with the most disrespectful little turds. Besides all the obvious things that can go wrong, now teachers who are fighting and putting hands on students, quitting and getting caught in sex scandals will have guns on them? And (god forbid) the worst case scenario takes place while 20 kids (ta full classroom) are under your supervision. And those kids have only you to rely on making sure they get home to see their family again.

If some how that does happen and 1 kid gets shot but the shooter gets hit and disarmed by staff quickly due to returning fire the out come is still better and gives the every teacher a fighting chance rather than waiting until the shooter runs out of bullets or the cops to get there.

I used to be anti gun and I can even remember in 1987 when Floriday passed it's shall issue ccw law and the left shrieked "There will be blood in the streets". Decades later and now most states have gone beyond shall issue to constitutional carry and it's not an issue in fact there is solid data showing it has reduced crime. Gun violence across the US is going down while gun ownership is going up and gun laws are getting thrown out. Guns aren't the issue, policies that destroy class mobility and force people to be lifelong wage slaves in combination with the caging of children in public education systems are the issues. And yet don't care about fixing these issues because if you did you would be out of a job. You are no different than big pharma. You focus on the symptoms so you can keep raking in the woke mob money. They were right when they yelled blood on your hands but just wrong on whose hands.

    • @jasonhaines5982
      @jasonhaines5982 17 дней назад

Yes Uvalde taught ppl that when shit pops off even cops will hesitate to long.
That just proves (to most people wiith a fully operating frontal brain lobe.) That sometimes you have to be your own first responder.
Are you saying that if one of those teachers happened to have a gun that day (in TX) that instead of shooting the attacker that they would just start shooting with out considering what was behind the shooter that could also be hit? Or just start wasting bullet's and with sloppy shooting which would immediately bring attention to your position and get you killed almost immediately.?
Do you really think that everybody that has different political views than yours is so mentally vacant that ppl who have been around guns their entire lives havenever thought about that but your such a mental superior compared to them that within a few moments you found a flaw in the plan.
      🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Really?; you mean aiming the gun is important when your firing it?

Give me more of these earth shattering epiphanies!
      😄😄😄😄😹😄😄😄😹
And why/how would you "accidently" forget your Glock in. The bathroom and not realize that your holster is about 15 lbs lighter.. WTF was you doing even touching your loaded gun. While in the bathroom.
Taking selfie's with it spinning it around on your finger?
An additional rule that should be implemented into the rules should also be "anyone removing or touching their gun except in the case of an active shooter will be immediately terminated and removed from the property and labeled a possible threat to staff and students).
But a real gun owner would never be sutting there playing with their gun.
Liberals are the only ones that freak out and do dangerous things when you see a gun. (Remember Kyle Rittenhouse? Done BLM rioters seen that he was holding a gun, never pointing it at ppl or or acting irresponsible, and said that because he was just in possession of a fire arm that they felt threatened. By him and three ppl were shot trying to disarm somebody for absolutely no reason.
As long as liberal teachers (for some reason) don't decide to buy a gun and then take it to class. Then none of those things your concerned about will ever happen but a liberal with a gun. would be extremely sketchy and dangerous for anyone around them. Everybody better watch how they move no sudden quick movements. A Liberal with a with a gun is like being around a feral animal.
Liberals are the only ones that makes any situation where a gun is present become become dangerous for absolutely no reason at all.
But again ai liberal with d gun is kind of a contradiction so I don't think that's going to be an issue.

Before we shoot down this idea, let’s hear it out. What kind of loaded Guns will be allowed in the classroom with our children? Do they expect a handgun can stop an assault rifle? We already saw even the finest police won’t face those odds. So I imagine they want military style riffles in all of our classrooms because of course our young children will understand it’s for their own safety and won’t actually touch it. Plus it should help normalize being around these weapons. Also, how much training should these teachers have? Are we proposing that we hire only military veterans as teachers? Or is tactical weapons now a college course? Will they also need to wear body armor; or just have it nearby? I believe we should absolutely consider this option and ask all of these questions just to see how far we can get before they realize just how stupid this idea is.

I live in Tennessee and have worked with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) trying to come up with money to buy even the most basic school supplies for our children. Meanwhile I have seen this state only making it easier to get and carry guns with/without background checks, concealed or open carry. First thing about this Tennessee law; no teacher is "Required" to carry a gun. Only the Teachers who Volunteers may carry, after an extensive background check, psychological evaluation, 40hrs of training and then permission from the Superintendent and Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the county.
New Hampshire is the only State that places no restrictions on teachers or school staff to carry a gun at school. If a teacher, lunch lady or even the janitor wishes to carry a gun on campus during school hours, they don't have to get permission to carry a gun. How many shootings have happened at a school in New Hampshire? ZERO!

I am a former licensed gun and ammo manufacturer, pistol instructor, gunsmith, and retired combat arms soldier.. This is crazy ,I had too many teachers that had real untreated mental health problems in school. I have also worked with public school teachers, that are also instructors, most of them also agree that most teachers don't need guns in schools. Public school teachers are not soldiers. They became teachers, not law enforcement for a reason. Not everyone is a soldier. Any one who went through any basic training , will tell you, this is true. Even trained soldiers freeze up in combat. Expecting teachers to do this, is not reasonable.
Now, lets have a mental health break second. If a teacher uses having a gun as a means to get a specific behavior from our children, are you ok with that? Would you trust your child's report that the teacher scared them with a gun. NOw, an a-hole HS kid uses that to get a teacher he does not like in trouble. The school has to pull the teacher, if they don't and something happens they are liable. Just another way to get good teacher kicked. has anyone here ever had a teacher have a full mental breakdown in class? I have. What happens if a teacher gets their mental health meds , wrong. Do you really want someone on meds, that havre a suicide warning on them, with access to a firearm, on their hip? Do you trust someone experiencing postpartum depression with a handgun in room full of children?
I am all about guns, I love them, I build them, design them, teach people how to safely use them. I am not willing to turn my child over to people who don't have the amount of training or combat experience experience needed on a daily basis. Complacency is already a problem when using a firearm. Putting guns in an environment where the same thing, is done every day, in the same order, is asking for a problem.
What type of training would be enough training? I cannot think of any amount of training that would be enough. Short of being in actually combat, in an urban setting, seeing children that you know and love killed in from of them. I can't think of anything that would prepare them for that. Even the training could cause PTSD. Not happy happy joy joy call of duty PTSD. Real PTSD. That take real work to get through, and dare I say, mental health meds that have blackbox suicide warnings on them.
This is monumentally a bad idea.

Wow! While I agree with the fact teachers carrying in schools is ridiculous and outrageous, to state that teachers shouldn't have guns because they have mental illness and may use guns against children is also outrageous. You have no evidence that teachers have a higher rate of metal illness than the rest of the population. So if you think the possibility of mental illness should restrict things like conceal carry then maybe we shouldn't allow it all. (I'd be ok with that). All your reasons against teachers having guns (i.e. training, mental health) should be used to restrict the general population from having guns as well.

Maybe provide the teachers with “Qualified Immunity” just like the police ……
News headline … “teacher justified in the shooting of several students who failed important trigonometry exam.”

Arming teachers makes sense in a way. Bodies often pile up in school shooter events long before cops arrive--and that is in URBAN schools, where the cops are actually NEARBY!
The 2012 Sandy Hook shooting went six minutes (police took five); the 2005 Red Lake incident was nine minutes (police took eight); the 2016 Parkland incident was seven minutes (first off-site cops arrived in 11, giving the gunman a chance to escape).

But none of the people in the schools are really trained. Plus they don't trust teachers to teach history - but guns no issue.
But lets be honest., Now teacher has gun and a student comes in with a knife or rock or anything. All of a sudden we are shooting angry people, etc.

@@richardhaighway4816 You must think teachers are as angry and stupid as the cops.

Uvalde is the only example you need to give. Cops showed up and did nothing.

If,,,,They can do this in a way that wouldn’t be dangerous, I would be all in.
Like making people think they had guns, but no guns, poker face deterrent.

How about metal detectors, locked doors, cameras at doors so if a student is late they get buzzed in via on duty officer, he may as well earn his paycheck anyways.

Flaunting can attract the wrong attention.
Soon, disagring with opinions or alterate perspectives have determental consequences, if it didn't already.
People unable to defend themselves should keep, their opinions, beliefs, observations, conclusions; to themselves for safety reasons.
