Is this a car review or a review of the latest laptop?

These cars look better in person than on video. Nice car.

This is an excellent vehicle delivering an average of 325 miles in full charge..not lying

Mileage tests have been claiming well over 300 miles of range on this one - well above the EPA

I bought one. I wasn’t won over by the styling, but the “norm core” look is growing on me. I’m a Range Rover fan, so the handling etc is works for me.
Most of my driving is on roads that don’t deliver “spirited joy”, and I really just want the drudgery to be reduced. When I want to live dangerously I hop on my bike.
To be honest years of tracking cars (Cayman S + Lotus 211) have made me view fast street cars as meh. To really have fun you have to drive so beyond the limits that you put too many people and your license in danger. This is especially true in contemporary cars because they are so capable and composed.
The range is fine. I really don’t want to carry more battery than I have to, and I have a home charger. I think the push for giant batteries you only need occasionally is a bad trend. The charging infrastructure will eventually fix this for most folks. In my market I haven’t had charging issues.
I think the trade off of having to stop and charge on long trips is offset by never having to stop the rest of the year. It’s still less time than my old ICE cars spent at the pumps.
I also considered the Lyriq. The styling is good, the interior quality is not as good and the most recent issues with the Blazer launch scared me off the brand. It’s a great value if they can sort the apparent tech issues.

I enjoyed watching your review. Lots of info provided. I learned few things others haven’t pointed out like the “intelligent mode”. I think the interior looks great and feels very comfortable. I think the outside is ok. I agree with the range. I would like it at 350 just for peace of mind. Remember, Teslas range is not as advertised. It is usual much less. The EQE and the EQS have been getting much better range. Thanks you for your review.

So, Todd refused to get out of the Emira, right? 🤣

While he did want to linger... he did eventually get out of the Emira and gave it back to Lotus PR. Meanwhile, during the time we had the EQE, Todd had laryngitis - which was quite hard for him! Thanks for watching!

Mercedes EQ needs an entirely new design language, something that is attractive in the first place. They just don't look like something I would want to get into.

Next year all Mercedes EVs will be able to use the entire Tesla North American Supercharger Network using an adapter and from 2025 model year forwards will use Tesla NACS port natively. The vast majority of people that can afford this car in Metro Salt Lake can charge at home and will need charging stations between Salt Lake and their destination. Not in Salt Lake itself.

For $90k I could buy Smart fourtwo EV, a big fancy golf cart, and even a pontoon boat for the lake!! Car manufacturers have lost their fucking minds with these prices lately... see ya!

So is Mercedes better at discovery than Land Rover?

    • @BlackPenquinn
      @BlackPenquinn 5 месяцев назад

I had a Discovery (Diesel). I traded it in on a Defender 90 as my kids had grown. The Discovery was a much better choice for anyone who is not living in the bush. The ride is better. The interior is better. My Defender would fit in underground parking lots.
The EQE isn’t as spacious inside as the Discovery and it doesn’t have 3 rows. It is also nowhere near as boxy and utilitarian. That said the flat second floor is great.
The Mercedes has much better tech. The leather in my Discovery was better. The seats in the EQE are better, as is the screen layout (no hyper screen). Day light always washed out the Land Rover dash screens.
I like the lower seating position and wrap around cockpit of the EQE. But I also loved the Discovery.
I got an amazing deal on my EQE, but it was spec’d without air suspension. The reviews said it didn’t need it. The reviews are wrong. As my car is spec’s the Discovery has much better bump compliance. Especially when you go over deep sewer grates, potholes etc.
We have owned 8 Land Rover/Range Rover products and though many were more “desirable” than the Discovery, it’s the one I have the best memories of.
So far I’m loving the EQE. I do think had it been spec’d with air suspension it would be near perfect.
In our market you still can’t get a Land Rover Phev product.

279 miles range will be fine in 2024 with NACS access. I agree EQE styling is boring and it’s overpriced. The Model Y Performance is faster and actually drives very sporty despite being an SUV.

I wouldn't trust the GM vehicle because its GM and that said a Cadillac is nothing more than a potential Chevy that has a bit more stuff but still a GM..... it will break and Good luck getting it fixed...LOL

Mercedes really missed the boat with their current EV designs. All the EQ models look super generic and cheap.
