Flørli 4444 Steps and Lysefjord Cruise | A Challenging Climb with Spectacular Views

- Hello Everyone! Put on your hiking shoes and come with me on a cruise through the Lysefjord in route to Flørli and up the longest wooden stair in the entire planet Earth!
Flørli, which has been inhabited on and off since at least the seventeenth century, is beautifully located amidst 1000-meter-high mountains along the southern shore of the Lysefjord. In 1916, construction began on a hydro-electric power plant, which, from 1918 until 1950, supplied electricity to the city of Stavanger. At its peak (1917), 142 people were employed at the plant; quite an impressive number considering that only 13 permanent residences were ever built near the site.
Once at Flørli, we will hike up the 4,444 wooden steps that parallel old water pipes which, at first glance, seem to be precariously clinging to the mountainside. Reaching an elevation of 750 meters above sea-level, Flørli is the longest wooden staircase in the world. On the way up, you’ll enjoy jaw-dropping views of the Lysefjord and surrounding mountains.
Once we've reached the mountaintop, we will follow the "red Ts" and hike along a trail through the forest and on to the remains of the Flørli village.
This is a demanding 4-hour, ~6 km (round-trip) hike with a total ascent of just over 750 meters. Following the hike back down to sea-level, you can visit the Flørli 4,444 Power Café, which is located inside the historic hydro-power hall built in 1916 and reward ourselves with some drinks and snacks. I got a delicious Ice Cream!
With Love,
David Semidey

Ufff...suddenly I remember the pain in my body after this hike last year! Haha ! Nice video, btw thanks for showing us the way you took going down. We didn't take that trail last time. Enjoy to your next adventure!
JOJ it was definitely challenging, specially couple of spots that are very steep along the steps. I'm a little afraid of heights but proud that I was able to overcome! have you done Prekeistolen? maybe I go there next...
@@Seminight7 Haha yeah, those spots! I remember our knees were shaking😂 especially on our way down. We haven't done Prekeistolen yet. It's getting cold now so we are more on just driving. Hopefully next summer we can do it!
@@JOJAdventures drive safely my friend!

That’s great to hear. It is a tough hike but the views are amazing. So happy you enjoyed the video ❤️
Took the navigastion cadets from The Naval Accademy here every year between 2010 and 2018. Loved this hike 👍
Awesome experience. I’m sure the cadets had a good time overcoming Flørli.
Great job! Doing those 4,444 steps must’ve been tough. Great video!👍
Gracias papito. It was tough but well with it 😄

I visited nirway in 2003.Sailing by cruise ms trollfjord to geiranger fjord abd narrow fjord.Hiking on Briksdal Glacier Driving by motor cycle on trollstigen road.
Takk for videoen
Thank you! I really want to go to that place, your overview was really good. Is the hiking down too difficult? Or medium? I seems very nice to take that way back.
Hi nievels! I felt that the hike down was a lot easier than the steps. There are some rocky spots you have to pay attention so you don’t twist an ankle. I would say easy to moderate with stunning views specially in a sunny day. Plan for about 4 hour round trip. The blueberries are the sweetest I have taste in my life! Let me know how your trip goes, Skål 🍻!
No cameo from the guy yelling at you across the lake?
LoL! next time buddy, next time :))
Que bello lugar.Te felicito Davis un abrazo
