Many years ago l was up north in my very old troopy. It was so fn hot, obviously it was running hot and using lots of diesel. We stopped at a truck stop and army guys were there, they diagnosed the issue in 2 seconds, pulled out the thermostat and threw it over the shoulder. Ya don't need a thermostat in Qld mate, they said, bolted it back with liquid gasket and went alot better
what a lovely job Toyota gave us . Not , stupid place to put it ,there i was thinking when i went and brought a thermostat, it would be a ezy job .🤣 and i have big hands 🤒 tnx for the grate video
Hi mate, I have a question. When you mentioned, you had a feeling the thermostat wasn’t working. What the needle on the dash boards doing at the times? Very high or no reading at all. Cheers 🍻
Would run fine in traffic but as soon as it hit a hill of any sort temp would creep even at 100kph then drop again once the hill was over. I knew the fan was working so it could only be a blocked thermostat or temp gauge sender
Great video, but if you squeeze yours hands there is no need to open the air box and the alternator,i was surprised to see you did all but its ok for others to learn how to open the other stuff
Just curious as to why you didn't drop the bottom radiator hose at the radiator in the first place to make things much easier with no fluids to get the turbo wet or hinder you with... I'm glad my 80 series is NOT a turbo.. too much shit in the way. Great idea showing others how to test and see when the thermostat opens.. they also have stamped on the outer ring the temp that they are supposed to open at, you can get different ones for different temps.
Some engines the coolant outlet and thermostat come in at the top of the radiator, and others at the bottom. In this case with the 1HZ is comes into the bottom
thermostat comparing was a good touch in the video!
Cheers James.. If the thermostat opens like the new one then you gotta start looking elsewhere.. Radiator would of been the next thing to be changed.
Great video mate. Can’t get clearer than that
Thank you sir. Much appreciated.

Thank you. That helps alot, especially since mine is turbo also
No problem glad it was helpful 👍
Great video. Super clear. Thanks

Great video mate
Thankyou Sir
How much coolant does it take motor +radiator
Great that's was helpful as I have a 1hz-c in a 1999 coaster and was trying to find out where it was located now even harder to get to on a bus 🚌 😊

Love it ... good work.

Just wasn’t necessary to drop the hose at the bottom. The less things you touch the less things can break.
What is defrent between thermostat use in top and bottom hose pipe and sepexifaction.? Pl
Not understanding your question. Only one place to put the thermostat

Hi sir, do i need to unscrew the 3rd bolt at the thermostat, or just 2 bolt 🔩.. Thanks
All bolts need to come out .
@@4wdglampingaustralia102 done replace thermostat on my 1hz 80 series, thanks 👍
@@nasleathercare4827 Excellent stuff.
Hey mate where does your temp normally sit around on the gauge?
On the gauge it’s usually about half way. If it’s a really hot day like high 30s to 40s it still gets a bit warm up steep long hills.
Good man
cheers mate
On a NA 1hz its literally 2 bolts. use a 1/4" and unibit and unbolt.
