    You're the only guy on youtube that has explained how the spring tensioner and spring works. I totally get it now. Thanks

    1:40 this helped sooo much! I'm glad I refined my search to fixing the spring and not the assembly as a whole! I had taken out the rod system when I was packing my drum set away for a long time storage thinking it would fit better, but that was not the case and I ended up thinking I had broken the hi hat stand and would have to get another one, but thanks to that little piece of insight, it’s all fixed and ready to roll again! Thank you! 🤟🏻🤙🏻🤘🏻👨🏻‍🎤

    Omg thx u so much for this fix!! Long story short, I broke my high hat stand, disassembled, reassembled, yet something was amiss. I knew it had to do with the little baby washer, but for some reason mine was stuck somewhere coiled within the middle of the spring, and I didn’t know exactly where it belonged. This now makes so much sense!! thank you thank you thank you 🙌

    Thanks for the info on fixing it. Just place your phone on a stand instead of hand holding it.

    The pedal in my hi ha just stays down. I can pull the rod up and down from the top, and the pedal moves with it, but when i let go of the rod the pedal flops down again. (I have on of those rods that bends over, so i know that its not disconnected somewhere.) I've seen people talking about replacing a spring, but mine doesn't seem to have a spring in it. I'm very new to playing, and i got my set secondhand.

      What brand and model is it?

      @@metifu Hello and thanks for your reply. I actually figured it out. I flipped the stand upside down and out flies the spring. The previous owner had assembled it wrong so that the spring wasn't doing it's job and just sitting there.. I put it together all proper like and it's working like a charm. Drum on!

    Ok but how to take off the inside rod to be able to reach the spring ? I've moved the white plastic piece by the chain but that doesn't help :(

    • @metifu
      @metifu  3 года назад

      Depending on the model that you have, the pedal connects via a chain or a piece of felt. If you take a look on the bottom side of the stand you will see a looking stud that you take an open wrench or crescent wrench and loosen. One disconnected the rod should slide out.

    How I fixed mine was *much* easier to repair, with brute force. After noticing the cymbals were too low, I pulled the middle section below the rod up sharply. It had evidently accidentally been pushed down too far and something slipped past its proper position. Maybe now I can get at its guts and figure out a way to prevent this from happening again.

      You can get one from an old 4” sprinkler or hardware store
