I quickly discovered that carving just by hand is a long process (and painful on the hands). Rotary tools can all basically do the same things, but this one has two particular features that set it apart. First, you can use it much more dextrously since it doesn't have a power cord pulling on it. You can also take it anywhere without pulling an extension cord along with you. It's hard to overestimate the benefit of this. You'd think that you'd have to sacrifice some power for this, but this Dremel has a very strong and long-lasting battery and it charges quickly. Secondly, while most rotary told have a few speed settings, this Dremel has a sliding scale, from very slow to extremely fast. This thing can do about a million different jobs, but I would point out one drawback, which is certainly not unique to Dremel, is that it's a small chore to change out the different tips.
Pro tool seller in KCMO Impressive that the voltage drop with the power stack and 4.0 low profile battery were identical. The 3.0 and 4.0 low profile batteries are identical. Same size, same weight, take exactly the same amount of time to charge. Hence the 3.0 low profile battery is really 4.0 Makes any tool stand without tipping, my personal favorite battery in the Dewalt line.
Just bought this on special from home depot with free 5ah battery. Installed 18 shutters in brick wall with the 2Ah battery with no problem. The best part it has a belt hook and light weight on extension ladders. I watched a few videos about the power stack but now I'm definitely getting them for all my small tools like drywall cutter and screw gun, router, planer, impact

Man this was my dedicated for punching holes in clients walls installing wireless internet, at a lot of houses the attic and walls are not viable to run cable in once they are filled in and at that point if they don’t have an internet cat5e or 6 cable stubbed out somewhere we have to go thru the wall to get in. I would punch 1/2” and 5/8” holes through 2ft of concrete with it regularly and it never even skipped a beat. It was astounding fast at that. The key was using good Irwin and Milwaukee bits. I found that these super cheap 18” and 24” irwin bits were by far the fastest with it. At 3/8” you could put the whole 24” rod into pressurized concrete or stone like butter. I’m so damned beat that it was in my tough system 2.0 set when it got stolen… this was my favorite tool! I bought it before release day because our Home Depot had them a week early some how
I drilled a hole thorugh sheet steel with a DCD791 and 1.3Ah obsolete battery yesterday - in high gear - cut out multiple times on what was effectively a very easy job :-D I will reconsider what I run on that drill. I think I'd like to get some power stacks for my impacts and 79X drills only. But not available to me yet. Patience. 4/5 packs in the meantime.
@@jncn1490 I know, but that wasn't steel, I could bite a piece out without damaging my perfect teeth - it was more like paper :-p PS, that drill typically has a 3mm bit into steel or timber and does just fine. Also did just fine in low ratio on this job.
I just got one because my old drill was making fumes and a lot of noise. It's lighter and more powerful I just used setting up some concrete forms. Nice hammer drill 👍🏻

I have a 1" a 1 1/4" and a 1 3/4" roto hammers I think that thing is cool but I think I'm going to stick with my 996 or 999 for little stuff, plus the 200 bucks. It might be nice to see a comparison with the drills???

Not all drill bits are created equally. I recently purchased a diablo sds bit with rebar cutting abilities. Even if I’m not drilling through rebar it makes drilling through concrete that mucj more efficient than just using a regular sds concrete bit. I’d like to see a comparison of this same hammer drill but using different brands of bits, ect. From this video I’m not very impressed with this little hammer drill.
Has anyone else noticed grease coming from the vent on the top. I use mine for 100 or less holes a week ive had it for 6 months and it just started happening about 3 weeks ago.
Take it back during your warranty period . Don't put up with it any longer . Thats a manufacturing fault . That shouldn't be happening Let me know how you get on with it
I'm completely new to rotary hammer drills. Would the DCH293 be able to use the same bits as this one without breaking them? I'm debating whether to get that drill over this one for more range in the drill bits I can use.
Yes, although you might find that it drills smaller holes a bit too large. Rotohammers tend to have a “sweet spot” range in which they are most effective, the DCH293 is probably best for drilling 3/8”-3/4” holes. Might be a bit too much power for smaller 3/16-5/16” holes

The 12v extreme line is pretty good. I use the impact drill daily. Not that the 20v impact is heavy, smaller, lighter tools make a difference at the end of the day.
@@beeps7 I like the dewalt 12v stuff. They just took way too long to develop that line. I have a couple Milwaukee m12 tools. Only bought in because of the 23g pin nailer, which is fantastic. Don't want to buy into more different battery platforms. I like that there's an atomic version of the 12v hammerdrill. No reason why they couldn't do the same with the installation tool as well. That paired with a powerstack battery would be just as small and light.
@@jamessimon7292 they didn't do it with the installation driver because it was literally designed to work in tight spaces, which is what the 12V tools are all about. The 12V line isn't exactly expensive to buy into either. You can get the brushless screwdriver kit with two 2ah batteries and charger for only $130. Or the brushless hammer drill and impact driver w/ 2 battery kit for $200. The batteries are also relatively cheap on eBay.
Thanks Brian this looks a brilliant tool. I am all Milwaukee but I want a set of compact tools to complement my full size Milwaukee tools. I don’t like the M12 Milwaukee tools owing to their battery design/uncomfortable hand grip as a result. I think with the power stack Dewalt is seriously making me question the point of 12v tools. I think I will get this along with the 805 hammer drill and 850 impact driver all with Powerstack. Dewalt is making the best compact tools right now for my money.
Drilling holes in cement, concrete, brick, stone etc up to 5/8 but 3/8 hole is the recommended max..SDS drills are 10x faster then hammer drills for multiple holes
The reading you’re getting on your voltage meter aren’t accurate by any means. Yes, it will give you an idea of voltage sag but if you truly want to know the batteries pack voltage sag you’ll need connect your voltage meter directly to position and negative side of the battery pack (Before the batteries connecting terminal block) 👍🏻

I used this all day at work today. Hung conduit around a mansion, also drilled in with a 1" and this thing rocked. I bet i drilled 80 holes in total.
As a homeowner I have probably drilled 2 dozen holes in concrete in 10 years of homeownership. But I still “need” this tool

Completely the wrong battery (1.3) for drilling steel. Should be a 5ah for many holes or a powerstack or at least a 3ah high output

Yes. The 5Ah batteries are the ones I use most often. I don’t even bother with the 2Ah or 1.3Ah batteries unless it’s something quick around the house
