  • "Coiltek 10x5" V 14x9" comparison on undug targets. Went out with both coils to give a true comparison between the two. No digging test holes, no nuggets buried. Went out to find my own targets then swaps coils to see which performed better on true targets. You be the Judge

I've gone back to the 8" coil from the 14x9. I'm not a big fan of eliptical coils. Too many ground signals that weren't targets, kind of wished I had of gotten the 11". I also detect in the creeks and the 8 is waterproof and more backpack able. The 14x9 has a dead spot on the sides.

Yes, you see when I was trying to locate the target after it was out of the ground, the sides of the coil didn't pick it up, when you got closer to where the coiltek logo is it was more sensitive

For a mono coil, I like the round ones, mainly for depth and pinpointing from all sides equally. Cheers Mick, keep up the vids🇦🇺😀

      Turn the sensitivity down

Ended up with the 11" round coil. It works great, really like the center mount/ GPX style coil👌🇦🇺

The first target 10x5" clear signal, with the 14x9" just got it, maybe because you knew it was there. Thanks for the video thumbs up

I think the 14x9" is maxed out at this depth for this size gold. Any deeper I don't think it wouldn't have picked it up.

The 10/5 is near speaker mate the 14/9 recorder was on tree stump not near speaker so not good comparison

    Good vid Mick 🍺
I think if the ground your working is shallow then the 10 x 5 is the go.
Better target response, but less ground coverage.
    Elliptical Vs Round ?
Well how many goldfields in NSW and VIC are open flat ground, free of rocks, trees, bushes and fallen timber ?
    Not many.......
The 14 x 9 is a great search tool to find a patch, then the 10 x 5 to clean up the scraps.

Ok so what is your opinion on an all rounder. 8” standard. 10x5 coiltek or the 14x9 ? Im in the market for one but cant make my mind up.

I might try and get out this weekend and compare the 10x5" V 8" , I still like the 10x5" though and would be my coil of choice. It's lighter than the 14x9 and more balanced than the 8" At the end of March I'll be doing a 4 day trip to the GT and will take all coils with me as the areas I'll be heading to all vary and each coil will come in handy. At the end of a day I'll sit down with a beer find a target and compare the 3 of them

Hi MIck, a question about the SDC. Does having it on a higher sensitivity mean it detects deeper?

    • @TheBasilmutt
      @TheBasilmutt  3 года назад

The correct answer is no, some believe it does but it actually doesn't. I mostly have my settings on 4 as I find 5 is too noisy, but then I do adjust it to my ground. By increasing this dial it will enhance fainter signals but does not punch deeper. The threshold I always have at halfway, otherwise you could "drown out" those faint signals

I've seen the mod, but they are still working on it. I really wouldn't want to be digging down 7 feet by hand

Can you do something about the bad audio volume please. Could hardly hear the tone differences.

The last 0.05g seems to be 10 * 5 clearer, 14 * 9 does not play out in depth!
Come on, look forward to more exciting videos!

Slow your action down alot and try to keep your coil always nose down.
The 10/5 is a deadly combination for the sdc
Matched with Ss 300 headphones makes life a dream in the GT goldfields...
Nice and light can swing all day no dramas/stable on mineralization ground and hella sensitive on targets
