- Really enjoying the Escalation soundtrack. It's got some percussive elements similar to the S2: Master of Arms soundtrack that sound great!
The 2042 Soundtrack was composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir and Sam Slater, who are known for their work on Chernobyl and Joker.

This soundtrack sounds so depressing. Dystopian, depressing, but just a little bit of hope is left, just enough to keep on fighting. It reminds you of your mortality, and how short life really is.

A campaign for this game could've been amazing, the whole atmosphere is amazing a world where the emerging problems of the real world are now the problems of the present with the world in ruin and the few remaining country's fighting for scraps to delay the inevitable, forcing people with no other option to fight as soldiers in this final war. A depressing take on what the world could look like in only a few years

I getcha but I feel like this a mournful tune, the kind of tune that you'd have after a pyrrhic win. "You've won the battle but your friends died; the war continues, more loss is ahead." It is beautiful, probably the best in 2042 by a length
I mean it is called 'escalation' that probably means that season 4 will be something big (at least story wise)
I love it, relaxes you but definitely gives you that vibe of war.

For the first time in bf2042 I actually feel that this game has its own atmosphere and when I saw new map I thought "this actually could look like 2042". More maps and music like this and I will die happy.

I'll also feel same too, first time play bf2042 on free trial and I'd began loving the game despite all the hate,it was fun playing it after the free trial ended

I was just amazed by the color that is on both sides of the wall: on the left is the desert that we have been seeing for decades, and on the right are green fields that are irrigated by automation and you understand how much detail the developers have come to the moment of greening the desert, because they have already thought of the existing concept
To me, it sounds like:
“There’s not much left, but there’s hope.”
Imagine a BF3 style campaign in this universe with this lore, with some of these tunes playing in the background as you kick ass. There's so much they could do for single player/co-op. It would be pretty cool as far as BF campaigns go.

I love that they’re going for a more consistent sound design for BF 2042’s ost, especially one that sounds as good as this.
I hope they take advantage of this OST with some single player/co-op content in Year 2. What a surprise that'd be!

This theme makes me wanna buy it tho i don't want to at the same time as bf2042 wasnt a battleifield game at least for me I also had a lot of bugs and all when i first experienced it which made me feel mad and sad since i really wanted to enjoy this game. But if it is really improving and getting better maybe ill just buy it and give it a shot again i only experienced the first season anyways using ea pass. Hopefully it will be a fun experience!

honestly i disagree, i’d say this easily the most hopeful song out of the entire ost. even the end of round music is kinda hopeful, the other eor songs sound like “this is literally the end of the world” while this sounds like “things are screwed up bad but we’ll make it through”

This one is absolutely matching the setting. When I’m thinking of the future it’s often more dark/depressing then Overwatches portrayal of hope and beautiful cities.
I really wish this game came with a campaign. The sound design is top tier.
Do what I do - go back and enjoy the older campaigns from Bad Company 1 & 2, BF3, 4, 1, and V. The sound design is great in all of them. I usually can scoop up at least one achievement I was missing this whole time.
Hot take: 2042' OST is not bad and it fits the world DICE wants to create, it is just that with how bad the game was and the lack of atmosphere and empty maps, you couldn't feel the world the OST was trying to express.
Always did love this game ost, very unique from the previous 2 we had with 1 and 5
its only a hot take because too many people are bad at appreciating art... and i dont mean that to be mean or anything, its just been a really fascinating phenomenon to observe haha. 2042 is a good case study in that respect
i actually personally think the music is slightly worse now in regards to how well it portrays the (lore not game) theme- some of the feel has been sacrificed to make it sound more like satisfying music. to be fair, as a map, spearhead itself has few other themes than “futuristic” so the maps music is pretty good this time around, but in terms of the theme the music portrayed, stranded in my opinion actually wasnt that great, it was oddly uplifting at the end for a map set in the dry arroyo of one of the largest lakes in the world…
dont get me wrong though its great music and i love it, but its definitely got much less thematic power behind it now than it used to. i guess the silver linings though are the old tracks still exist and are a blast to listen to, and i mean given the comments on this video it admittedly is nice that people are finally starting to feel the vibe of the world hildur and sam have created through their fantastic music, even if it was done better earlier ☺️
@@b.p.emma. I think it's better now. There was a direction for the vanilla tracks, but it's still a little hard to grasp. Now though, this is refined to perfection
@@giahuynguyenkim6389 i bought the game a few days ago in order to extract s3 files and at least in game can say firsthand its much worse now, actually. the way theyve replaced all urgency waves (those tense, rising bits of music that occur near a matches end. thats what theyre called in files) with strandeds, how most maps play the 2042 theme (especially on breakthrough and rush) when they used to not prior, and theyve also recently changed the script for how eor music triggers which has essentially made it never play, especially in conquest. game wise its really bad now haha, but i guess the silver lining is people who hate the soundtrack get to hear less of it
that all aside though its not really _as_ good unfortunately, no. its just managed to strike (minus the parts i mentioned above) an almost perfect balance between the vision and the compromise of the vision people have wanted since release. if thats what you mean by perfect then thats fine, but when i say perfect, i mean in terms of its artistic and thematic power, which i really really appreciated when it was at its peak in season 0/1

This theme has a very disturbing/somber "this is the end" feel, moreso than the original OST. I really, really hope they keep with this sad ambient type music going forward. It fits the game significantly better

@Zuthfird Music is everything, I keep coming back to the game just to hear it. They haven’t released the track anywhere, but the new direction is fantastic. I want to support and play Battlefield, it has the grit, scale and intensity that COD just can’t deliver for me. Really glad this game is making a comeback. Plus they had +45,000 players on Battlefield 1 after the Netflix WW1 movie came out, so we may get a sequel after they see that players want more of the WW1 setting

Almost sounds like a lullaby in a weird way but everytime I hear it before I join a match it feels like the music is telling me to hold strong and keep on fighting until I can find a way to victory

This is basically a refined version of the preseason music.
Hildur and Sam was the perfect choice for 2042 all along.
This is probably my favorite tracks so far! The original soundtrack was good, gave dystopian vibes. This does too in a way, but it’s more listenable. Has the same vibe as the original tracks which is good, so it all feels connected.

Really hoping we’ll see a battlefield 2242, I love the grim “humanity is hanging by a thread” vibe. 2142’s story is even more grim when you think about it. Global ice age, only two superpowers left, fighting in the only habitable regions left on the planet for resources (Middle East and North Africa). I’d love to see the story continue with a sequel to 2142, since we now have 2042 as the prequel
That would be awesome! I'd imagine everything would be quite futuristic at that point...or perhaps humanity will suffer further collapse and we'll be using worn-out secondhand "artifact" weapons. I'm down for anything in this modern/post-modern timeline, but wish they would expand on 2042 more first. I'd love a campaign but I understand that's probably not going to happen at this point. Some co-op missions like in BF3 would be great and would be an awesome opportunity for DICE to expand on this world. Maybe even an Irish cameo would be possible in these missions to help tie it into previous events from BF4.

As an old Bf 1942/ desert combat and BF2 veteran I was thrilled by the intro music and also the battlefield felt like the old days! i came back!

One thing I'll say about 2042, the soundtrack has been nailing it since launch, even with the bugs and issues the game faced, the soundtrack fits the game so well, and these new season themes fit just as well

@@lamborgini86 If they actually really finally truly learn their lessons this time around 2063 would be an amazing second chance for them to knock this kind of game out of the park. This timeline/universe has plenty of untapped potential. For me, a lot of that untapped potential lies in single player and co-op modes that utilize the lore they have started to build with 2042.

The soundtrack is awesome
Beginning of round sounds like rapid combined arms warfare, death, brawl, and combat. The music paired with spawning in a helicopter is as dark as it is glorious and really captures what the sound of a war machine, an army, an oncoming battle, and ensuing death sounds like. At least in this game's experience.

I played this game at the beginning of its release but quit on the second day because it didn't look like a game. A year later I downloaded the game again. The first thing I liked was the music and I felt the game had a new atmosphere. Now it's my favorite game after Battlefield 4. 💙

I love the music on the menu. Melancholic. And the game seems to have taken the right direction. It would have been better if he had already started from these basics, but okay. Battlefield and always Battlefield. My first love and always will be.
I like how, gamers have a love hate relationship with BATTLEFIELD games, they hate the game, because of their crappy launches, but end up loving them as the game progresses, 😅
I get a sense of there is still hope in what ever it is your fighting for, that sliver of you and excitement you get coming out when you know that there isn’t really anything waiting but its enough to motivate you

I just came from playing 2042 for the first time. This season is my first taste of bf2042 and tbh I very much like it better than mw2 right now. Really like the dystoptian future/end of world vibe cus it reminds me of humanity right now. Hope dice can keep this feel up.

One thing this game has over any shooter is it’s amazing tracks that play while you receive your match xp. Wish more games had stuff like 7:15 playing while you earn your xp.
Yep, you gotta have a cooldown period after the match to calm those nerves for a second! Also the ideal time for a drink refill/bathroom break.

I really like this soundtrack. I have just recently got into BF2042 and have not seen earlier versions of the game. I personnaly really like it and feel bad for the devs that it is still such a hated on game.
It’s been much worse before this season. I’m more than sure that there’s a lot of talented and passionate devs over at DICE that really want 2042 to be the best it can be, but they have (or had for those that left after launch) to listen to big boss and the shareholders with no say.
And while 2042 is getting better, we can’t keep letting AAA game devs get away with stuff like this: “Half-ass now and worry later” work ethic. It’s lowering the morale when it comes to the quality of games, and it’s worrying.

Maybe if enough people ask, DICE will consider it. With all of the settings currently available in-game it seems like it wouldn't be too hard for them.

I just bought the game the other day for 70% off and it’s so freaking awesome. Gameplay is super fun plus the in-game soundtracks are the best. It makes me feel like I’m really fighting for something big and not just for myself.
Much better than some of us who got the $120+ Ultimate Edition! 😂 Glad to see more people hopping on though.
